This marks the fourth time that Ehlinger will face off against the Texas Tech defense. In the first matchup, things did not go his way in Austin. Ehlinger threw back to back interception that ended up dooming the Longhorns shot at a comeback. Texas lost 27-23 at home. Ehlinger would get his revenge in Lubbock.

In his second start, Ehlinger was able to help hold off Tech with a 41-34 victory with a last minute touchdown pass to Humphrey. Last year Ehlinger rallied the team from a two-touchdown deficit early on. Tech would retake the lead 21-14 before Ehlinger and the offense went to work.

From the eight minute mark of the second quarter through the end of the game, Texas outscored the Red Raiders 35-3. Ehlinger found Duvernay on a 75-yard score. Roschon Johnson would score three times and Jake Smith would score the other touchdown. Sam threw for 348 yards on the afternoon. Given how Tech played last time out, look for Ehlinger to get it going through the air once again.
