Tom Herman is 3-0 in Big 12 openers
The last Texas head coach to win their first three conference openers was John Mackovic in 1992-1994, back in the Southwest Conference days. Flash forward to 2020 and Tom Herman is looking to win his fourth consecutive Big 12 openers.
Wins at Iowa State in 2017, against TCU in 2018, and at home vs Oklahma State last season, the Longhorns have won those three games by an average of 10.3 points per game. Texas Tech will mark the fourth different opponent Herman has opened Big 12 play against.
Hopefully this season, the Longhorns will be able to increase their average margin of victory on Saturday. If they do, Herman will extend his Big 12 opener record to 4-0.
