Tackling
When defensive coordinator Chris Ash was asked how many missed tackles Texas missed against Texas Tech, he “wouldn’t be able to give you an answer.” According to PFF, the Longhorns missed 19 tackles.
“There were too many of them,” said Ash. “I never would have seen that coming, to be honest with you, from the work that we put in in training camp and the way we tackled in our four scrimmages.”
Another issue Texas dealt with last season, Ash tried to fix the tackling during summer and fall camp. Against the Horned Frogs, even if low number double-digit tackles are missed, it will be considered an improvement. A whole week of practice should sure up the issues.
