Texas Longhorns Football: Three reasons Texas lost to TCU

Saturday’s loss to the Horned Frogs was a frustrating loss where UT beat themselves all day. Here are three reasons Texas lost to TCU.

Inability to stop Max Duggan

Before the game, defensive coordinator Chris Ash described TCU quarterback Max Duggan as “the closest thing to Sam Ehlinger in the Big 12.” Well, Duggan played the way you would expect Ehlinger to.

Not only did the quarterback pass for 231 yards on 20 of 30 passing but Duggan was also TCU’s leading rusher. He finished with 17 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns. His second sealed the deal for the Horned Frogs.

This is how the Longhorns defended Duggan’s eventual game-winning touchdown:

Duggan looked calm, cool, and composed despite getting hit all day. The sophomore quarterback looked like the senior leader Ehlinger is supposed to be for Texas.

After the impressive performance, Duggan should be looking towards a Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award on Sunday.
