Collin Johnson might be viewed as the other receiver in the offense but he put up stellar numbers over his career for the burnt orange nation. He clearly stands out as a 6’6″ red zone matchup nightmare for any team. Johnson finished his senior season hauling in three receptions for 62 yards and a first half touchdown to give Texas the 10-0 leading going into half time. On the first play of the game, Johnson catch the Ehlinger pass to get the offense rolling with a 34-yard catch and run.
Despite the fact that Johnson missed a lot of time this year in separate stints with a hamstring injury, Collin set a career-high with 14.7 yards per reception. That was a full yard and half more than fellow senior Duvernay. Despite not being viewed as a vertical threat, Johnson gets up the field quickly.
During his time in Austin, the San Jose native tallied 188 career receptions to put him as the sixth-best in Longhorns history. He moved into fifth all-time in career yards after passing Quan Cosby after finishing his career with 2,624 yards.
The talented duo of Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay might be done in Austin but we are yet to see if the best for them is yet to come.
