Duvernay had quite the senior season as he came so close to breaking Jordan Shipley’s records as the best pass catching in Texas Longhorns’ history. The senor wide receiver from Sachse, Texas had a huge game against Texas Tech with 199 receiving yards that got him close. In the Alamo Bowl game, Duvernay caught three passes for 92 yards to leave him just short but after what was expected this year it was a huge accomplishment for the slot receiver.
In all three catches against a vaunted Utah defense, Duvernay displayed why he will be so highly regarded at the next level. On two absolute dimes from quarterback Sam Ehlinger, he made two basket catches that would make Willie Mays proud. On the touchdown throw, the man called Duv, shielded his defender for the score.
Duvernay leaves Texas as the second-leading receiver in a single year in terms of yards 1,386 (Shipley 1,485) and receptions 106 (Shipley 116). Even more impressive is that Duvernay compiled those numbers in one less game. His game against Texas Tech put him at third all-time for a single game, just beating out Johnny “Lam” Jones by a single yard. Duvernay finished his career as the eighth-best in yards (2,468) and also eighth in receptions (176).
