On Jan. 29, it was reported that a promising, young linebacker with starting experience would be entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal to explore other opportunities.
Fortunately for the Longhorns, they now have much needed depth at inside linebacker as Juwan Mitchell ultimately decided to return to Texas for another season.

Mitchell enrolled at Texas in June of 2019 from Butler Community College where he was an all-conference linebacker who ranked No. 2 on ESPN’s JC50 and the No. 1 player at his position.
In his first season with the Longhorns, Mitchell appeared in 11 games, including three starts. He finished the 2019 season with 39 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and four pass breakups.
With fellow linebacker Ayodele Adeoye suffering a foot injury that required surgery this offseason, Mitchell has an opportunity to significantly climb the depth chart ahead of the 2020 season.
