Texas will be without starting running back Keaontay Ingram for the foreseeable future.
On Tuesday, head coach Tom Herman provided injury updates on several key players via his weekly media session. The two most notable involved Ingram and offensive lineman Isaiah Hookfin.
Ingram limped off of the field after rushing for a touchdown against Oklahoma State on Oct. 31. He was not able to return to the contest and Herman has now labeled his injury as a high ankle sprain.
Tom Herman said RB Keaontay Ingram will not play against West Virginia with a high ankle sprain, will be out a couple of weeks. Texas will lean heavily on Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, Herman said.

While Ingram is expected to be sidelined for “a few weeks,” it provides a great opportunity for young running back’s Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson. In Texas’ upset win over No. 6 Oklahoma State, Robinson was the leading rusher with 13 carries for 59 yards.
In addition to Ingram’s status, Herman provided an update on promising offensive lineman Isaiah Hookfin. The lingering shoulder injury that Hookfin suffered in preseason camp ultimately required season-ending surgery. Herman stated that Hookfin tried to work through the discomfort, but it was unfortunately too painful to play through.
Tom Herman said OL Isaiah Hookfin had season ending surgery on his shoulder. The goal is for him to be 100 percent ready for spring football.

On a more positive note, it appears wide receivers Jordan Whittington and Brenden Schooler are expected to return to the field in the near future. Herman is optimistic that Schooler will be able to return this week from a hip injury.
Whittington has had a slew of injuries throughout his collegiate career, but most recently he’s been dealing with a nagging hip flexor issue. He’s started to run and jog this week, but Herman does not expect him to return until the Kansas game on Nov. 21.
