Texas basketball continues to have a very nice offseason. Chris Beard is getting his starting point guard back for another year.
Marcus Carr announced he will be using his COVID-19 year of eligibility and will be returning to Texas for 2022. With the news from both Carr and Timmy Allen in the past few days, Texas’ 2022 roster is starting to take shape. The Longhorns also landed New Mexico State transfer Jabari Rice from the transfer portal on Tuesday.
The Toronto native transferred from Minnesota ahead of last season. Carr started 32 games at guard in his first season in Austin. He finished as Texas’ second-leading scorer (11.5 ppg) and assist leader (3.4 ppg).
Carr was Texas’ best player in the NCAA tournament. He guided the Horns to its first March Madness win since 2014 with a victory over Virginia Tech.
