Texas has finally received some momentum on the recruiting trail.
On Wednesday, four-star defensive tackle Byron Murphy II announced via his personal Twitter account that he was decommitting from Baylor.

The 6-foot-1, 290 pound athlete was highly recruited by Texas defensive coaches Chris Ash and Mark Hagen, therefore the Longhorns instantly became the favorites to land him.
Less than an hour after announcing his decommitment, Murphy committed to the University of Texas. The DeSoto native is a top 50 overall player in Texas out of the 2021 recruiting class according to 247Sports.
110% committed respect my decision. @CoachTomHerman @OscarGiles95 @CoachMarkHagen @TexasFootball @TXHRecruiting @BON_SBNation @FootballDesoto @CoachSweeny @PaulBeattie17 #hookem #longhorns 🤘🏾🐂 pic.twitter.com/I6OyIDcqJB

This is now the second recruit that the Longhorns were able to flip from Baylor. In April of this year, Texas landed four-star cornerback Jahdae Barron who had originally committed to the Bears out of the 2020 recruiting class.
