Texas Football: Looking at ESPN’s FPI going into Week 8

Analyzing the remaining opponents on No. 8 Texas’ schedule as they come off their bye week.

Week 8 is officially upon us, with the Houston Cougars up next on the schedule for the No. 8 Texas Longhorns.

Texas has a 5-1 record coming off their bye week and they’ve performed very efficiently thus far.

After a rollercoaster of a game in Dallas versus the Oklahoma Sooners, the Longhorns still mostly control their own destiny as they hope to play in the Big 12 Championship Game in December.

When Texas wins, they win big. All five games that have resulted in wins for the Longhorns have been done by double digits. They’ve also scored at least 30 points in every game and will need to keep that up as conference play continues.

With just six guaranteed games left on the schedule, let’s take a look at ESPN’s Football Power Index to see how the Longhorns fare against the remaining opponents.
