Texas Basketball: Longhorns lose a close game to West Virginia

The No. 13 ranked Longhorns lost to the No. 15 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers in a return to action after the winter storm.

After nearly a week of frozen action, the No. 13 ranked Longhorns lost to the No. 15 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers 84-82 in Austin.

The Longhorns (13-6) had to crawl their way back from a 10-point halftime deficit after dominant performances from Miles McBride and Emmitt Matthews Jr. of the Mountaineers (15-6).

For the entire game, 62 of the teams total points came from a trio of collective effort in Matt Coleman III (20 points), Courtney Ramey (28 points) and Jericho Sims (14 points).

At the same time, there was a trio of collective disappointment from Greg Brown (0 points) Andrew Jones (9 points on 25% shooting) and Kai Jones (4 points). All of whom hadn’t yet defrosted, apparently.

The Longhorns have lost three of their last eight games and are only a few weeks away from the Big 12 tournament. They’ll need to bounce back quick if they don’t want to be among those teams who just missed the cut.

Texas will be back on the court on Feb. 23 against Kansas.
