No. 5 – Texas basketball’s five-game winning streak
Coming off an embarrassing 29 point loss to Iowa State on Feb. 15, Texas’ season and Shaka Smart’s tenure in Austin looked over. Then, the Longhorns pulled off a five-game winning streak, keeping their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
The five wins came against TCU, Kansas State, West Virginia, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. Three of the games were on the road, making the win streak even more impressive. Andrew Jones led the way, averaging 17.2 points per game throughout the five games.
While the season finale against Oklahoma State ended in a loss, Texas finished the season strong. If COVID-19 had not caused the cancelation of the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns would have been in position to make a run.
