No. 1 – Miranda Elish’s perfect game
Star pitcher Miranda Elish threw a perfect game during the Longhorn Invitational, sitting down 21 consecutive New Mexico batters in a 7-0 win.
Of the 21 batters, 10 of them fell victim to a strikeout, giving her the team lead of 96 Ks. The other 11 outs came in the form of four flyouts and seven groundouts. The most impressive part about it all though, Elish was able to get the perfect game after only 87 pitches.
The performance lowered her season ERA to 1.25, third-best in the Big 12. It was also Elish’s second career perfect game, with the first coming during her time at Oregon. As for the softball program, it was the 11th perfect game in school history.
