Tennessee basketball offers two local sophomores in Knoxville.

Tennessee offered basketball scholarships to local Knoxville sophomores.

Guard Shane Cherry (Austin-East High School) and forward Deondrea Lindsey (Austin-East High School) were offered by the Vols.

Cherry has offers from Auburn, LSU, Georgia Tech and Tennessee State. He led Austin-East to a 23-10 record in 2022-23, its first winning season since 2018. The Roadrunners made a state sectional appearance.

Cherry averaged 28.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 steals, 2.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.

Lindsey was a Division II-AA Mr. Basketball finalist for Catholic (22-8). The Fighting Irish advanced to the state quarterfinals.

He has offers from SMU, Ole Miss, Georgetown and Georgia Tech.

Lindsey averaged 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign.
