On-screen sign language interpreters are coming to ‘Forza Horizon 5’

Playground Games is working with sign language experts on this ambitious feature!

Forza Horizon 5  is expanding its accessibility options, bringing even on-screen sign language interpreters in a new update.

Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza series, is adding a staggering amount of features to Forza Horizon 5  that will help out gamers with disabilities. Mike Brown, creative director on the critically-acclaimed racing simulation, says working with the disability community was a big part of the game’s development.

“We want everyone in the world to be able to experience our game,” Brown said via Xbox Wire. “With more than an estimated 400 million gamers with disabilities across the globe, it is vital that all players be able to tailor their gameplay in a way that works best for them.”

One accessibility feature coming in a future patch is on-screen sign language interpreters for cutscenes. Playground Games even sought out ASL experts to bring this ambitious feature to Forza Horizon 5.

“The team is excited to share we are also working on American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) support for cinematics in Forza Horizon 5,” Brown said via Xbox Wire. “This feature will include a picture-in-picture display near the bottom of the screen of an ASL/BSL interpreter during the cinematics in the game.”

Check out a brief teaser of how on-screen language interpreters will work in Forza Horizon 5  for yourself below.

Playground Games sure is a trail-blazer, which is no surprise given how committed the team is to releasing incredible titles. We reviewed Forza Horizon 5  already and think it’s one of the best racing games ever made. So maybe give it a go, eh?

Xbox Game Pass subscribers get a free trial for ‘Battlefield 2042’

That’s 10 hours to figure out if you like the game or not.

Battlefield 2042  is coming out soon, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get a 10-hour trial of the game.

Anyone who is an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC subscriber will be able to play Battlefield 2042  for 10 hours on Nov. 12 during its open beta weekend. However, after the trial has lapsed, players will have to pay for Battlefield 2042 to keep the physics-based hilarity going. EA Play Pro members won’t need to do that, though.

“EA Play Pro members get the Ultimate Edition of the game, and all rewards associated with it,” EA said in a post. “Including early access to Open Beta and access to the full game from Nov. 12.”

So yeah, unlike Marvel’s Avengers, Xbox Game Pass Subscribers are not getting Battlefield 2042  totally for free. 10 hours should be enough time to figure out if you actually like the game, though.

It’s not clear if Battlefield 2042’s  recently revealed Hazard Mode will make its debut during the upcoming beta, but here’s to hoping. Developer DICE also showed off the snazzy PC-specific graphical features that’ll make Battlefield 2042 pop. Seriously, it’s stunning!

New story trailer for ‘Starfield’ explains its universe

Want to see what the folks behind Skyrim and Fallout are up to next?

Starfield  is the highly-anticipated RPG from Bethesda, and a new teaser trailer just came out about its backstory. Oh, and there’s plenty of beautiful concept art as well!

Set in 2327 and roughly 50 light-years beyond earth’s solar system called The Settled Systems, Starfield’s primary conflict centers around a war between the United Colonies and The Freestar Collective. Players will explore this turbulent area of the Milky Way while hopefully not getting shot up by vicious mercenaries, spacers, pirates, and all sorts of unsavory folk. Think of the Cantina scene in Star Wars: A New Hope, but (unfortunately) without Obi-Wan Kenobi watching you back.

Check out the full Starfield  Settled Systems teaser for yourself below.

Some stills of the concept art in the teaser are available for you to take a look at below.

Starfield is one of the first big Bethesda exclusives for Xbox after Microsoft bought the company last year. It’s coming out on Nov. 11, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Oh, and it’ll be free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to boot.

The spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead  from developer Turtle Rock Studios is doing the good old-fashioned midnight launch across most regions. One curious note is pre-ordering the Ultimate or Deluxe Editions of Back 4 Blood  grants you early access on Oct. 8, four whole days before it’s supposed to release. Those two editions will set you back $99.99 USD and $89.99 USD, respectively. Not exactly cheap, but if you’re dying to play it, the option is there.

Xbox is curious if you would eat baked beans stuffed inside a PC

Well, would you?

Well, there’s a PC case mod for everything nowadays, eh? A couple of years back, someone on Reddit tried to use baked beans as a coolant for their PC hardware, and the folks over at Xbox want to know if you would try eating them.

“Would you eat the forbidden PC beans,” Xbox Games Pass UK said on Twitter.

As if the question took a lot of thought or something! Over on r/pcmasterrace some time ago, user Mr_Loaf tried using baked beans to cool their PC. Why would they do such a thing, you ask? Well, for one, because stuff like that nets a lot of upvotes on Reddit. But also, why not try it out!

Another user asked how the beans didn’t get into the PC’s pump, to which Mr_Loaf said that wasn’t an issue because the beans got stuck before that could happen.

“Nothing, the beans themselves blocked the flow,” Mr_loaf said. “This pump/res combo is insufficient to mash up the beans. Temps were in the min 40s, up from the high 20s they usually are. Didn’t leave it running very long.”

Check out this monstrosity, er, beautiful work of art for yourself below.

So the question remains: would you try eating the cursed PC baked beans? Personally, you’d have to pay me a lot of money even to do so, especially considering they would probably taste like plastic and iron. Not to mention, you know, this case mod would totally ruin a PC minutes after turning it on.

Watch: Hilarious ‘Halo Infinite’ glitch spawns hundreds of wet floor signs

Careful not to slip if you’re in the multiplayer beta.

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer beta is in full swing right now, and players discovered an absurd glitch where wet floor signs multiply out of thin air. Yup, wet floor signs — spawning by the hundreds whenever a grenade explodes nearby.

Over on r/halo, user natdog806 was among the first to point out that something is seriously wrong with Halo Infinite’s wet floor signs. For whatever reason, tossing grenades towards these signs causes them to replicate until everyone playing is practically drowning in yellow plastic. I’ll likely never be able to spot one of these signs in the real world again without smirking a bit.

Check out the wet floor sign glitch for yourself below.

So many floor signs from halo

It seems to be a common bug as well, considering Reddit user Rough-many-4308 encountered it as well. This clip gives you a more wide-angle shot of the absurdity.

Just got the funniest bug I’ve ever encountered, I missed Halo Infinite from halo

Anyone worried that this might be a sign of Halo Infinite’s technical polish or lack thereof needs to remember that betas exist so development teams can address bugs before a game’s final release. So, for now, enjoy the wet floor sign carnage. It likely won’t be around much longer. Unless, of course, developer 343 Industries wants everyone to know the dangers of slippery surfaces!
