Packers work out veteran wide receiver John Brown

Veteran WR John Brown worked out for the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay Packers worked out veteran wide receiver John Brown, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

No signing was reported on the league’s transaction report on Wednesday.

Brown, who has played in 100 career games, appeared in just four games with four different teams last season. He didn’t catch a pass on three targets.

Matt LaFleur and the Packers could be interested in seeing if Brown is healthy and if his speed can add something to the team’s receiver room to start training camp.

We here at Packers Wire originally suggested the idea of signing Brown in free agency in February of 2019.

Brown signed with the Buffalo Bills a month later and was a difference-maker, catching 72 passes for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns during the 2019 season. He played in just nine games due to injury in 2020 and then couldn’t get on the field in 2021.

Brown, a third-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2014, is now 32 years old.

LeBron James says he would have made Seattle Seahawks in 2011 try out

Basketball star LeBron James says he would have made the Seattle Seahawks or other NFL team had he tried out in 2011 during the NBA lockout.

The Seattle Seahawks may very well be looking for another tight end now that veteran Greg Olsen has retired. If this was the 2011 season, one very big name comes to mind.

LeBron James, in a recent interview with The Athletic, said he received a jersey and a workout invitation from the Seattle Seahawks during the 2011 NBA lockout. James acknowledged he also had an offer to try out for the Cowboys and considered his hometown Browns as well.

“I would have made the team,” James told The Athletic. “I would have tried out, but I would have made the team. One thing about it, I don’t mind working for something, so if I would have had to try out for the Cowboys or the Seahawks, or if I’d have stayed home and went back home to Cleveland, I’d have tried (out), but I would have made the team.

“I just know what I’m capable of doing on the football field. Especially at that age.”

James was 26 at the time he considered adding professional football to his resume. Heading into the 2021 season, the Seahawks might have to look elsewhere for their star tight end of the future.

Miami Dolphins examined Tua Tagovailoa, have not yet worked out with QB

Former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa has been examined by his new team, the Miami Dolphins, but has not yet worked out with the team or coaches.

Former Alabama star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL draft, despite injury concerns. Now, almost three months after the draft, the Dolphins are still waiting to get their hands on their future quarterback.

In an interview with the Palm Beach Post, Dolphins head coach Brian Flores gave an update on what he’s seen from Tagovailoa.

“Yes, he was examined, but again, ‘examined’ and then doing a two-hour practice and playing in a game — there’s a process to all those things,” Flores said. “So, as far as whether or not he can or can’t do something, it would be hard to say.”

The team’s doctors have been working with Tagovailoa, and they have “examined” him, but Flores is more concerned with his abilities post-rehab.

The 2018 Heisman Finalist recovered rather quickly from a season-ending hip injury that required surgery, and even posted videos of him training and throwing back in March.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, team facilities have been closed, but are starting to reopen. It seems as if it is only a matter of time before Flores, and the public, gets to see Tagovailoa throwing in a Dolphins uniform.
