Michigan basketball makes top 10 list for top transfer target

#Michigan has a chance to land him!

It was a disappointing season with a poetic ending for the Michigan basketball team. The Wolverines squandered a eight-point lead with one minute remaining in their final game against Vanderbilt in the NIT Tournament — something Michigan frequently did this season.

The Wolverines are now in their offseason and roster moves will be happening. So far, Michigan has lost Isaiah Barnes to the transfer portal and the Wolverines are waiting on decisions from Hunter Dickinson, Kobe Bufkin, and Jett Howard on their NBA decisions.

While waiting on decisions from the current roster, Juwan Howard and Michigan isn’t wasting time on looking to add from the transfer portal.

The Wolverines are highly targeting Wofford transfer B.J. Mack. The 6-foot-8 power forward averaged over 16 points per game and over five rebounds last year. Mack went to Twitter to announce his top 10 schools he will be considering for next season and the Wolverines made his list.

Mack spoke with 247Sports about each of his top 10 schools he is deciding between. Here is what he had to say about the Wolverines:

Juwan Howard has been recruiting me throughout this process. He is somebody that played my position at the highest level and has reached a goal of mine. He is a legendary coach and a legendary player. I feel being able to play beside an All-American in Hunter Dickinson is a great opportunity. I want to be on that exposure level because there are going to be NBA scouts at every game that you play. Being there with them is highly intriguing.”

Michigan struggled mightily to get consistent help at the 4 position this season. Terrance Williams started the year there, but Will Tschetter got his chance as well. Neither looked to be the answer going forward. Mack could be a good addition to the Wolverines if Howard and Co. can land him.

According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, Mack is listed as the 59th-best  player and a four-star.

Michigan basketball targeting Wofford transfer

Could be a nice addition!

Michigan basketball was active in the transfer portal last season, getting Joey Baker from Duke and Jaelin Llewellyn from Princeton.

It appears the Wolverines may be active again this offseason. The maize and blue may need to be if they lose anyone to the portal or if Michigan loses any of the trio of Hunter Dickinson, Kobe Bufkin or Jett Howard to the NBA draft.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Michigan has contacted Wofford transfer B.J. Mack who entered the portal last week. Mack has played the past three seasons for the Terriers. He originally committed to USF where he played for one season. He is listed as 6 feet, 8 inches and 261 pounds.

Mack shot nearly 50% from the field and 33% from 3 last past season. If Michigan brought Mack in, he has shown to be a better 3 point shooter than his 33%. Two seasons ago, he shot nearly 45% from 3, which would provide a stretch four for the Wolverines.

According to the On3 transfer rankings, Mack is the No. 19 transfer available and is a four-star transfer.

Tennessee basketball shows interest in Wofford transfer BJ Mack

Tennessee has expressed interest in Wofford transfer forward BJ Mack.

The end of the college basketball season is approaching and players are beginning to enter the transfer portal looking for new opportunities.

Wofford forward BJ Mack announced his entry into the transfer portal on Monday. He will be a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward originally committed to South Florida and transferred to Wofford after his freshman season.

The Vols have reached out to Mack and expressed interest in the graduate transfer. Mack has been contacted by over 20 different programs, including Arkansas, UCLA, LSU, Seton Hall and Texas A&M.

During the 2022-23 season at Wofford, Mack averaged 16.6 points per game and earned first-team All-Conference honors. In 2021, Mack earned second-team All-Conference honors and led the Terriers in 3-point shooting (44.8 percent).

Virginia Tech vs Wofford Game Preview

Why Wofford Will Win

So what’s going right so far for the Terriers?

There aren’t a lot of mistakes, there aren’t a slew of penalties, and the defense is doing a decent job against the run.

Virginia Tech is struggling on third downs, it couldn’t stop screwing up in the loss to Old Dominion, and there’s nothing happening down the field with the passing game. The Hokies are averaging just over nine yards per completion, and …

CFN Expert Picks, Week 3

Why Virginia Tech Will Win

You can’t win if you don’t score, son.

You have scored as many points this 2022 college football season as the Wofford Terriers have.

The team hasn’t been totally miserable, but the offense has been awful in the passing game, the running game is averaging just 83 yards per game, and it hasn’t converted in the red zone losing the first two games to Chattanooga and Elon by a combined score of 57-0.

Virginia Tech has had its struggles so far, but the defense is doing just fine, especially on third downs. It leads the nation in third down stops, allowing both Old Dominion and Boston College to convert just 2-of-15 chances.

Week 3 Schedule, Predictions, Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

It’s a true scrimmage for the Hokies before getting West Virginia and then a tough run in the ACC.

They have to sharpen up the passing game a little more, the offensive line has to generate a push to get more than 3.5 yards per carry, and they have to take some chances to see what works.

It’s okay. It’s not like Wofford is going to score if it comes up with takeaways.

Clemson moves past No. 25 Wofford for latest mid-week victory

Clemson’s offense set the tone. The bullpen took care of the rest.

And the Tigers added another mid-week victory to the win column.

Behind the bats of Max Wagner and Tyler Corbitt, Clemson (28-14, 6-11 ACC) pounded out 16 hits, as the Tigers cruised to a 17-4 win over No. 25 Wofford on Wednesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson got five shutout innings out of the bullpen before Nick Hoffman gave up a run in the top of the eighth. After Wednesday’s starter Nick Clayton lasted just two innings, Jay Dill combined with relievers Ty Olenchuck, Austin Gordon, Nick Hoffman and Jackson Lindley to allow just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Clemson got the scoring starting in the home half of the first. With two outs, Corbitt belted a two-run triple into the left-center field gap. Clemson’s third triple of the season allowed the Tigers to take a quick 2-0 lead.

That lead wouldn’t even last a half-inning, though. Wofford quickly rallied back with three runs on three hits to take a 3-2 advantage in the top of the second inning.

Corbitt (3-for-3) would later add his eighth home run of the season to extend Clemson’s lead to 10-3. A double shy of hitting for the cycle, Corbitt was replaced in left field after homering in the bottom of the fourth.

Getting another crack at a mid-week start, Clayton worked around trouble in the first inning, but the sophomore right-hander played with fire when he took the bump an inning later and got burned.

Clayton was pulled after two innings of work, in which he allowed three runs on four hits with one walk and zero strikeouts.

Following Wednesday’s outing, Clayton’s season ERA is now up to 6.16. He was relieved by Dill, who pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Dill’s clean outing allowed Clemson to take back control of Wednesday afternoon’s game.

Clemson was able to steal a run on a Benjamin Blackwell (2-for-4) infield single in the bottom of the second inning. Wofford’s catcher Cameron Gill made a tough throw that was dropped by the first baseman John Dempsey. Then, Dylan Brewer raced home from third base and scored as Dempsey’s throw home sailed a bit high, allowing the Tigers to knot the game at 3 apiece.

Cooper Ingle (2-for-3) hit one to dead center to give Clemson a 5-3 lead. Ingle’s sixth home run of the season went 104 MPH off the bat and traveled 399 feet, giving Clemson its second lead Wednesday. A lead which they’d never surrender.

Bryar Hawkins (1-for-5) tacked onto Clemson’s lead with a two-out RBI double in the home half of the third. The Tigers continued to tack on runs an inning later, as Wagner, who is in the midst of an “unreal” tear, added two more RBIs.

Blake Wright (2-for-6) would later single home two runs with the bases loaded, which was followed up by a three-run blast off the bat of Wagner. The sophomore infielder out of Green Bay (Wisc.) added a solo shot in the home half of the seventh inning.

Freshman infielder David Lewis later added the second home run of his collegiate career

Wagner, who is perhaps one of the nation’s hottest hitters at the moment, now has nine home runs in his last eight games. He finished Wednesday’s contest 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs.

He’ll look to continue that hot streak as Clemson, which has now won nine of its last 11 games, will travel to Louisville this weekend for a three-game set with the Cardinals.
