Wisconsin offers 6-foot-8 2025 offensive tackle

Wisconsin offers a 6-foot-8 offensive tackle

The Badgers added to their 2025 offer sheet last week when Wisconsin extended an offer to offensive lineman Eidan Buchanan.

The three-star offensive tackle stands 6 feet, 8 inches and 310 pounds according to his 247Sports profile. Buchanan is a Maryland native who plays his high school football for Good Counsel High School.

The 2025 offensive lineman has offers from Maryland, Boston College, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and USF along with the Badgers.

The Badgers have one early commit in the 2025 class. Quarterback Landyn Locke, the younger brother of current Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke, committed to the Badgers last month.

Breaking down Wisconsin’s class of 2024 commitments by state

A look at where each of Wisconsin’s 2024 commitments have come from:

Wisconsin’s class of 2024 will have a unique look to it when the cycle concludes. The program does not currently have a commitment from any of the top six in-state recruits, something which has not been the case for as long as I can remember.

Nonetheless, it’s an impressive group at this stage in the cycle. Luke Fickell has landed six four-star recruits and currently boasts a blue chip ratio of 35%. While the cycle is far from complete, the class shouldn’t look much different than it does now when National Signing Day comes around.

Trends will be hard to iron out after only one full recruiting cycle under Fickell. But given his connection to the state of Ohio from his time at Cincinnati, Phil Longo’s ability to recruit quarterbacks and some other assistants excelling out East, the location-based breakdown of the class is an interesting look.

Will Wisconsin continue to focus on Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York? Will Fickell’s ties to Ohio start paying dividends? What happens in-state during the 2025 cycle?

There are many questions that are left to be answered. But for now, here is a breakdown of Wisconsin’s class of 2024 by state:

2024 PG Daniel Freitag announces his college decision

Daniel Freitag, a four-star class of 2024 point guard from Jefferson, Minnesota announced that he has committed to join the Badgers.

Daniel Freitag, a four-star class of 2024 point guard from Jefferson, Minnesota announced that he has committed to join some of his fellow Minnesotans to play college basketball.

The 6-foot-2 athlete chose to head to Madison and play for Greg Gard and his Badger squad. Fellow Minnesota natives like Steven Crowl (Eagan, MN) and class of 2023 recruit Nolan Winter (Lakeville, MN) are amongst the players from his state that will likely be his teammates at Wisconsin.

Freitag is set to play for Southern California Academy for his final season of high school basketball in 2023 before joining the Badgers. He is the 10th ranked point guard in his class and could end up being the greatest recruit that Greg Gard has reeled in.

Additionally, he became the second player to commit to Wisconsin for the class of 2024, joining three-star Jack Robison (Lakeville, MN) in Madison.

Four-star guard set to announce college decision Friday

Daniel Freitag, a four-star guard from California has got his potential teams down to five, including Wisconsin, choosing his school Friday.

Daniel Freitag, a four-star point guard from Castaic, California has narrowed down his potential teams to five, including Wisconsin, and will announce his commitment Friday.

Freitag is a member of the class of 2024 and still has one more season of high school basketball at Southern California Academy. The 6-foot-2 athlete is originally from Jefferson, Minnesota, which may explain his potential attraction to Greg Gard and his program at Wisconsin.

In the end, multiple players including Tyler Wahl (Lakeville, MN) and Steven Crowl (Eagan, MN) are from Freitag’s home state. Friday’s announcement could be a massive one for Gard and his staff if they can reel in a talent as highly touted as Freitag.

Additionally, as a multi-sport athlete, he also holds an offer from the Badger football team as a four-star wide receiver.

Badgers in contact with three-star class of 2024 forward from Texas

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team has been in contact with three-star class of 2024 power forward Dillon Battie.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball team has been in contact with three-star class of 2024 power forward Dillon Battie. The 6-foot-8 athlete from Lancaster, Texas still has one more season of high school basketball before he’d potentially make the leap to the collegiate level.

Battie has received seven Division 1 offers and Wisconsin could be set to join teams like Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech in offering him. Typically, the Badgers find most of their recruiting success in the Midwest, namely the state of Minnesota, so it’s nice to see Greg Gard and his staff widen their net.

So far for the class of 2024, Wisconsin has received the commitment of three-star forward Jack Robison from Lakeville, Minnesota.

The Badgers have been sending out a number of offers in the 2025 class, including an offer to four-star safety CJ Jimcoily.

The Nashville, Tennessee native announced the offer on Saturday via his Twitter account.

The four-star safety prospect has a long list of offers including those from Missouri, Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Maryland, Purdue, Memphis, and Nebraska. Jimcoily has played both wide receiver and in the secondary at the high school level but projects as either a defensive back or a safety at the collegiate level.

Here is a look at the four-star safety announcing his Wisconsin offer via Twitter on Saturday:

Wisconsin MBB offers class of 2025 forward from Kentucky

The Badgers offered EJ Walker, a class of 2025 forward from Erlanger, Kentucky on Tuesday (May 2).

The Badgers offered EJ Walker, a class of 2025 forward from Erlanger, Kentucky on Tuesday (May 2). The 6-foot-8, 220-pound athlete still has two more years at Lloyd High School before he’d make the jump to college basketball.

Even though he doesn’t carry an official rating, Walker has received 12 Division 1 offers, with Minnesota and Purdue joining Wisconsin in offering him from the Big Ten.

Greg Gard and his Badgers failed to make the NCAA Tournament in 2022-2023, doing so for the second time since Gard took over at head coach in 2015.

Moving forward, the basketball team may have to take a page out of the football team’s book and completely rebrand themselves and who knows, maybe Walker is a part of that.

The Badgers offered Trent Sisley, a four-star forward from Lincoln City, Indiana on Monday. The 6-foot-7 athlete is a sophomore at Heritage Hills High School and will be a member of the class of 2025 wherever he ends up.

To this point, Sisley has received nine Division 1 offers, including seven from within the Big Ten. With Indiana having offered him already, they should be considered a favorite to land him in a couple years.

Greg Gard and his staff at Wisconsin have been aggressive in their pursuit of Indiana high school athletes in recent years, reeling in three-star Connor Essegian for the class of 2023. Essegian went on the become an All-Big Ten Freshman team member, averaging 11.7 points per game while setting a freshman record for most three-pointers made in program history.greg
