Status Report: Wisconsin will be without a top offensive weapon vs Minnesota

The Badgers will be without a key offensive starter

The Badgers released their status report just minutes ago, and Wisconsin will be without a top offensive piece against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday. Wisconsin and Minnesota are set for a 2:30 PM CT kickoff at Camp Randall as the Badgers look to regain control of The Axe.

Wisconsin will be without 11 players in total, 8 of whom were already ruled out for the season earlier this year.

It’s a mix of offense and defense, but the big news concerns the Wisconsin running back room. Which 11 players will the Badgers be without? Here is a complete look at the Wisconsin status report for The Battle for the Axe.

Wisconsin releases week 10 injury report for contest vs. Maryland

Five players are ruled out, and seven others are listed as out for the season in Wisconsin’s injury report for week 10 vs. Maryland:

Madison, Wis. — On Monday, the University of Wisconsin released its official injury report ahead of its Week 10 matchup vs. the Maryland Terrapins.

The unranked Wisconsin Badgers (4-4) are coming off a much-needed bye week that allowed them to regroup and get healthier at several key positions.

Heading into week ten, UW has five players ruled out due to injury against Maryland and seven others listed as out for the season.

In a season of disarray, frustration, and underachieving, injuries have continued to ravage the Wisconsin Badgers. However, UW will get back starting safety Hunter Wohler, who missed the last seven games due to injury. In addition, they’ll get back tight ends Hayden Rucci and Cole Dakovich, plus kickoff specialist Jack Van Dyke.

Another notable name missing from the injury report is backup quarterback Chase Wolf, who suffered a knee injury before the season and will be a situation to monitor as the week progresses.

UW will need as many healthy bodies on the field as possible this weekend as the Badgers look to turn things around and continue its push for bowl eligibility.

Here is a look at Wisconsin football’s injury report for Week 10:

Report: Wisconsin LT Jack Nelson had surgery to repair a torn ligament

Wisconsin’s starting LT had surgery on Wednesday:

According to a report from Evan Flood of 247sports, Wisconsin’s starting left tackle Jack Nelson missed practice on Thursday due to undergoing a procedure Wednesday to repair a torn ligament in his thumb.

The good news for Badgers fans, the report also goes on to say that UW expects Nelson will return to practice sometime next week – so everyone can collectively exhale.

The Wisconsin native started all 13 games for Wisconsin in 2021, allowing 13 pressures and two sacks in 769 total snaps en route to being named honorable mention All-Big Ten.

A former four-star recruit, Nelson was kicked out to LT in the spring and figures to be an upgrade for UW, considering his impressive athleticism and tenacity playing in space.

Wisconsin also has talented depth options such as Nolan Rucci, Riley Mahlman, Joe Brunner, and Logan Brown at tackle should he remain on the shelf longer than expected.

A pair of backup tight ends will also miss the Rutgers contest, as both Cam Large and Hayden Rucci have been declared out.

Here is a look at the complete injury report ahead of the Badgers taking on the Scarlet Knights:

Cornerback Al Ashford III, tight end Cole Dakovich, and long snapper Duncan McKinley are all listed as out for the year.

Injury report: Wisconsin gets three key contributors back against Notre Dame

The Badgers get a trio of key contributors back against Notre Dame

Wisconsin will be getting a trio of key contributors back against Notre Dame. CB Faion Hicks and S Collin Wilder both missed the Badger win over Eastern Michigan, but are both not listed on the injury report and have been warming up as normal.

Overall, the Badgers come in healthy while Notre Dame dealt with a last-minute injury to starting DT Kurt Hinish.

In his first action of the season, Leo Chenal is back at LB after missing the first two weeks of action with COVID-19. Wisconsin will be without ILB Mike Maskalunas, backup TE Jack Eschenbach, and freshman RB Braelon Allen among others on Saturday:

Five starters are OUT for Wisconsin today against Wake Forest

The injury report is out for Wisconsin football’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against Wake Forest. For yet another week, the report brought…

The Wisconsin football program has released its pregame status report heading into their Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Excluded from the injury list, meaning he will suit up and play, is running back Jalen Berger—a player who has missed the team’s last two games.

Listed as out for the game, however, are wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis, left tackle Cole Van Lanen, defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk and right guard Logan Bruss.

Also out for today is backup running back Nakia Watson and backup cornerback Semar Melvin.

The absence of Pryor and Davis today will mean the two receivers combined to play only five games this season—that after the offense showed promise Week 1 against Illinois when the two players were both healthy.

Quarterback Graham Mertz and the Wisconsin offense will now need to see tight end Jake Ferguson and wide receivers Chimere Dike and Jack Dunn step up in the receiving game and replacements along the offensive line to play well if the unit wants to compliment their rushing attack and find success against a soft Wake Forest defense.

Wisconsin vs. Wake Forest: 10 players to watch

The Wisconsin Badgers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons are set to meet on Wednesday in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl as Graham Mertz looks to finish his

It is game week for the Wisconsin Badgers as they get ready for Wednesday’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

The two teams enter the contest with similar records, though they took completely opposite paths to reach where they stand today.

The Badgers, as you probably know, began their season with two straight victories, then went on a three-game losing streak and finally finished their regular season with a win over Minnesota to move to 3-3.

Wake Forest, on the other hand, began the season with two losses, won four straight including a 23-16 victory over then-No. 19-ranked Virginia Tech and finally finished their regular season with two losses to move to 4-4.

Furthermore, although the two squads sit at .500 entering the contest, their path to success looks a lot different—Wisconsin’s coming through running the ball and playing defense and Wake Forest’s through playing fast and getting points on the board as quickly as possible.

So, with opposite styles of play set to face off, there are a few pivotal matchups that will dictate the pace of Wednesday’s game and decides who comes out on top.

Those matchups and more are highlighted below in my Duke’s Mayo Bowl edition of 10 players to watch:

Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz is ‘good to go’ for Wednesday’s game

Wisconsin Badger quarterback Graham Mertz saying during a press conference today that he will suit up and play against Wake Forest this week

During the Wisconsin Badgers’ 20-17 victory over rival Minnesota, quarterback Graham Mertz missed much of the second half after suffering an injury during a red zone rush attempt.

Despite the injury, Mertz was still listed as the starter on the team’s depth chart that was released a few days ago, so signs were pointing towards the redshirt freshman being able to suit up for the team’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against Wake Forest.

Today that news was confirmed, as the Badger quarterback said during a press conference that he’s “good to go” for Wednesday’s game.

We now await the status of wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis—players who have missed the last several weeks but, as they have been all season, were still included in the team’s two-deep.

The Badgers and Demon Deacons are set to kick off on December 30 at 11 a.m. CST as each team looks to finish the season above .500.

The Wisconsin Badgers are off to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl this week as they look to end their season with a victory and finish the year above .500.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl wasn’t necessarily what the Badgers–or Badger fan–wanted entering the year, though playing in a Bowl Game and having a chance to complete the season is a success given everything that has happened since March.
