2023 SG Jamie Kaiser Jr. wraps up official visit to Wisconsin on Tuesday

A newly offered wing in the 2023 class wraps up his official visit to Wisconsin:

Things appear to be moving quickly between Wisconsin and newly offered 2023 shooting guard Jamie Kaiser out of Burke, Virgina.

Per Kaiser’s twitter page, the three-star SG just wrapped up an official visit with the Badgers on Tuesday, less than two weeks after being offered by head coach Greg Gard.

The Bishop Ireton High School standout’s name has been picking up steam on the recruiting trail as of late, and currently holds offers from Creighton, Georgia Tech, Rhode Island, George Mason, Harvard, Richmond, Ohio, TCU, Yale, and a host of other mid-majors.

Kaiser is a knockdown perimeter shooter with a quick release, and excellent size for a wing that projects well at the next level – so his skill-set would be a seamless fit into almost any program.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound SG would give Wisconsin a sniper out on the wing that they desperately need moving forward. This is a recruitment worth keeping an eye on, as there appears to be quite a bit of mutual interest here.

Wisconsin showing interest in Illinois transfer Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk

Wisconsin has reportedly reached out to a transfer forward from a Big Ten rival:

Greg Gard and his coaching staff have been incredibly active in the transfer portal this offseason as they look to add some much needed depth to the program.

On Thursday, Jake Lieberman reported that Wisconsin was among a long list of potential suitors that had reached out to Illinois transfer forward Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk.

The 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward appeared in 24 games for the Illini last season. In just over seven minutes per game, Bosmans-Verdonk averaged 1.6 points, and 2.1 rebounds on 47% shooting from the field.

Armed with three scholarships, and having just one recruit signed in the 2022 class (Essegian), it would appear that Greg Gard and company might be looking to add another big man to their incoming class.

It was reported that three-star forward Luke Northweather from Jefferson City, Missouri would be taking an official visit to Wisconsin this week, and now it would appear he’s also trimmed up his list.

The Blair Oaks High School standout stated that moving forward in his recruitment he is going to be focused on Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward was the Missouri Gatorade State Player of the Year as a senior, posting averages of 29 points and 11 rebounds on 70% shooting from the field.

Northweather has an intriguing skill-set that would undoubtedly fit well at a school like Wisconsin. He’s a back to the basket big man capable of stepping out and knocking down three’s, all while being a more than willing passer.

Wisconsin basketball lands a preferred walk-on from the Badger State

The Badgers land a 2022 preferred walk-on commitment:

Wisconsin basketball added to their 2022 class on Monday when Badger State native Luke Haertle accepted a preferred walk-on offer to play for UW.

The 6-foot-4 guard was a high school star in both basketball and football, playing quarterback at Lake Country Lutheran. No, the tradition of high school quarterbacks playing at Wisconsin will not end when Brad Davison and Jonathan Davis leave town.

Wisconsin’s 2022 class currently includes Connor Essegian, a three-star guard from Indiana who has already officially signed with the Badgers.

On the Wisconsin prep circuit, Haertle played for Wisconsin Playground Club, and put up over 24 points per contest as a junior. On Monday, Haertle announced his commitment on Twitter:

The Badgers lose out on a top 2022 target

Wisconsin basketball lost out on one of their top 2022 targets when Braden Huff committed to Gonzaga on Monday.

Huff is a four-star power forward out of Illinois who had an official visit to Wisconsin scheduled for October 29. He was the highest-ranked player linked to the Badgers in the class of 2022 before choosing Gonzaga.

A 6-foot-9 forward, Huff is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois by 247Sports.

Wisconsin had a pair of “crystal ball” predictions in for Huff before he chose the Zags. The Badgers currently have SG Connor Essegian as their lone commit in the class of 2022.

Essegian is an Indiana native who attends Central Noble High School in Albion, Indiana. He is seen as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, and is expected to be a shooting guard in college. Essegian is known as a sharpshooter, hitting over 40% of his threes this past season as a junior.

After a successful visit to Madison, Wisconsin went in on fast-rising 2023 prospect Owen Freeman. The 6-foot-9 power forward has an impressive offer list already piled up and the Badgers have officially added to it.

Freeman currently holds offers from the likes of Butler, Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, Marquette, and Ohio State among others. The Bradley, Illinois native plays his high school basketball at Bradley-Bourbonnais. In his Hudl highlights (shown below via YouTube), Freeman’s length stands out as does his fluidity with the basketball for his size.

Wisconsin will be in a battle for a player who is piling up offers, and quality Big Ten offers at that, in June.
