Wisconsin offers Oregon transfer defensive back

Wisconsin offers Oregon transfer defensive back

Wisconsin is in on a former four-star defensive back as the Badgers offered Oregon transfer Avante Dickerson on Monday.

Dickerson was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021, and the number one player in the state of Nebraska in the 2021 group per 247Sports.

The Badgers were quick to offer him as he only entered the portal back on April 28. In high school, Dickerson was a two-sport athlete as he starred in both football and track and field. He played both wide receiver and defensive back as a high school player before being recruited as a defensive player at Oregon.

He ran a sub-11 second 100-meter dash as a high school track star.

Dickerson has already received offers from the likes of Indiana and Minnesota as he looks to potentially make his way to the Big Ten.

Wisconsin offers four-star 2023 DL Jordan Hall

The Badgers offer a 2023 DL

On Sunday, Wisconsin sent out another 2023 offer as the Badgers continue to start targeting talent in the class.

Jordan Hall, a four-star defensive lineman from Florida, announced his Badger offer via Twitter on Sunday. The 2023 product has received a number of high-profile offers at this early stage, currently holding offers from Oregon, Florida, Michigan, Indiana, and Ole Miss among others.

Hall plays for Jacksonville Westside High School and is off to a tremendous start through five games of the 2021 season. The Florida native has 4.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 15 quarterback hurries through the first five weeks.

Oh, he also blocks field goals:

Wisconsin football made the top three for 2022 four-star defensive tackle K.J. Miles, who listed the Badgers alongside Georgia Tech and Texas as his top three teams on Wednesday via his Twitter.

The Jersey City, New Jersey, native is ranked as the No. 31 defensive tackle in the country and No. 4 player in New Jersey by 247Sports. Last week, Wisconsin also received two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports to land Miles. The four-star recruit has starred the last few seasons for St. Peters Prep in New Jersey.

Since Wisconsin is now in Miles’ top three and has two crystal ball predictions, it looks like the Badgers are leading the way in landing the 2022 defensive tackle.

A look at 2022 targets that Wisconsin football contacted today

Wisconsin can now initiate contact with 2022 targets

There were hundreds of high profile high school athletes counting down the minutes last night, waiting for schools to contact them. Per NCAA rules, Tuesday marks the first day that schools can initiate contact with class of 2022 prospects, and the Badger were busy when the clock hit midnight. Here is a look at a plethora of prospects that Wisconsin reached out to yesterday.

The new Badger bat signal “#BadA22Badgers,” a Twitter hashtag used to signify the Wisconsin class of 2022 was sent out to a number of highly touted targets both in-state and out of state. Wisconsin’s first commit in the class, in-state S Braelon Allen, shared the edit and hashtag that was sent out to prospects.

Here is a list of 2022 players that Wisconsin contacted yesterday (not all-inclusive):

S Xavier Nwankpa — Pleasant Hill, Iowa (Southeast Polk)

OLB Jordan Kwiatkowski — Sterling Heights, Michigan (Adlai Stevenson)

TE Andrew Keller — Waunakee, Wisconsin (Waunakee)

WR Eian Pugh — Oak Park, Illinois (Fenwick)

CB Marcus Allen — Marrieta, Georgia (Walton)

ATH Grant Page — Boulder, Colorado (Fairview)

ILB Jayden Montgomery — Green Bay, Wisconsin (Bay Port)

OT Chad Schuster — Franklin, Wisconsin (Franklin)

A top Wisconsin 2021 target pushes back his commitment date

The Badgers will have to wait on the commitment of a top OLB in 2021

The Badgers are looking to round out their impressive class of 2021, and a top OLB target is still high on their target list.

Yanni Karlaftis, a four-star (according to 247Sports) OLB out of West Lafayette, Indiana has decided to push back his commitment date per his Twitter account.

The 247Sports “crystal ball” speculation sees the battle for Karlaftis as a two team race between Purdue and Wisconsin. The location of Purdue, being right in the four-star ‘backers home turf, certainly gives the Boilermakers an advantage, although the Badgers have built a special class in 2021 that could get even better. Karlaftis also has his brother George Karlaftis, who is a rising sophomore DE at Purdue, trying to sway him in the direction of the Boilermakers. His decision was supposed to come on August 9, but has now been pushed back to an unannounced date.

Cal and Oregon are also still in the mix for the four-star prospect.

Wisconsin looks to flip a 2021 WR who is currently committed to SMU

The Badgers are looking to add a WR in the class of 2021

The Badgers have been in the 2021 WR market over the past few weeks and have looked to the state of Texas to fill the gap at the position. Wisconsin’s latest offer came yesterday to a player who is already committed to SMU. The Badgers offered Texas native Joseph Manjack, a three-star 2021 WR.

Manjack holds offers from Arizona and Colorado, and committed to SMU on May 5. The Badgers and WR Coach Alvis Whitted are looking to flip the 6-foot-3 target. Check out Manjack’s highlights via Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9885969/5da7ddbc4207200710dcbbd9

Wisconsin offers another exciting 2021 WR/TE prospect

The Badgers an exciting 2021 WR/TE prospect

New Wisconsin WR coach Alvis Whitted is staying busy on the recruiting trail despite this current dead period. The Badgers extended yet another 2021 offer to a WR/TE yesterday. Wisconsin offered Leo Blackburn Jr. out of Atlanta, Ga. (Westlake) per his Twitter account.

The physical, 6-foot-5 receiver has an offer list that includes the likes of TCU, Colorado, Minnesota, Duke, and in-state Georgia Tech. Illinois also recently jumped in with an offer on March 3. With his size, Blackburn Jr. is a hybrid TE/WR prospect that the Badgers are likely recruiting to play the WR position.

Pro-style QB commit Deacon Pe’a Hill has been selected for one of the most prestigious events in high school football

[lawrence-newsletter][lawrence-related id=16144]The Polynesian Bowl announced that 2021 Wisconsin QB commit Deacon Pe’a Hill has been selected for the 2021 game in Hawaii. The game began in 2017, and has since served as a way to bring the best high school talent in America together to showcase their skills in Honolulu. A plethora of four and five-star talent is already on the roster for the 2021 edition.

The 6-4, 225 pound pro-style quarterback fielded offers from Kansas State and Nevada, before ultimately choosing the Badgers.

New destinations for Baun and Taylor in the latest USA TODAY Mock Draft

Taking a look at where former Badgers fell in the latest USA TODAY Mock Draft

[lawrence-newsletter][lawrence-auto-related count=2]Our friends at USA TODAY’s DraftWire site recently uploaded the latest edition of their 2020 Mock Draft series.

Here is where the five Wisconsin Badger’s taken through the first four rounds fell:

Jonathan Taylor, RB — 29th overall to the Tennessee Titans

The only Badger taken in the first round was Taylor, who by nearly all projections will be the first Badger off the board in a couple weeks. The two-time Doak Walker Award Winner had previously been slotted by USA TODAY to end up going 28th overall to Baltimore and 24th overall to New Orleans in the previous two mock’s respectively. The Titans do not seem like the most natural fit for Taylor given the play of bruising back Derrick Henry, but the Badger legend landing anywhere in the first round feels like a win.

Zack Baun, LB — 36th overall to the New York Giants

This is the highest spot that the former Badger has landed in USA TODAY’s Mock Draft series so far. The first team all-Big Ten performer could make an immediate impact on a defense that needs help in New York. We also know that the Dallas Cowboys are interested in the linebacker with the 51st pick near the end of the second round given they interviewed Baun via Zoom last week.

Here is where the rest of the Badgers taken in the first four rounds fell:

Tyler Biadasz, OL — 78th overall to the Atlanta Falcons

Chris Orr, LB — 109th overall to the Detroit Lions

Quintez Cephus, WR — 127th overall to the Philadelphia EaglesÂ
