“The former South Carolina head coach has been entering and exiting the Bulldogs’ highly secure football complex daily this week and parking in a space at the Butts-Mehre Building. What he has been doing in the hours in between is unknown.”

The UGA alum (1991-1994) was fired by the Gamecocks after a five-year stent in Columbia, finishing with a record of 28-30 overall.

Before South Carolina, Muschamp spent time as Auburn defensive coordinator in 2015 and before that, was head coach of the Florida Gators from 2011 to 2014, going 28-21 during his time in Gainesville.

Muschamp’s ties to UGA and the Georgia football coaching staff are well known.

Coach Kirby Smart and Muschamp are friends and have worked together multiple times during their coaching careers, including time at Valdosta State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins.

Muschamp’s son, Jackson Muschamp, joined the Georgia program as a walk-on quarterback last season.

Although the Bulldogs have retained defensive coordinator Dan Lanning, inside linebackers coach Glen Schumann has drawn interest from LSU for their open defensive coordinator position and Georgia is currently without a defensive backs coach as Charlton Warren left Athens to take the defensive coordinator position at Indianna.

Muschamp played safety at Georgia and has coached defensive backs multiple times over his 25-year coaching career.

There has been no confirmation yet on Muschamp’s work with the program from UGA Athletics.
