Defensive lineman William Gholston is one of the longest-tenured players in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history, and now he’s got a permanent reminder of the only franchise he’s ever suited up for in the NFL.

Gholston recently shared a video on social media of his new Bucs tattoo, and it’s absolutely awesome.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back yet another familiar face, re-signing veteran defensive lineman William Gholston.

Gholston, a fifth-round pick out of Michigan State in the 2013 NFL draft, is one of the longest-tenured players on the Bucs’ current roster. He’s played more games than any other defensive lineman in franchise history, and now returns for his 12th NFL season, all of which have been in Tampa Bay.

A massive, versatile defender, Gholston’s return will bolster the Bucs’ depth along the defensive line, and keep a respected leader in the locker room as they chase a fourth straight NFC South title in 2024.

Do the Kansas City Chiefs need to add another piece along the defensive line ahead of the 2023 NFL season?

The folks over at PFF recently put together an article featuring a free agent signing, extension or trade that all 32 teams should explore. They’d already written in-depth about the team’s need to extend Chris Jones, so they went with a veteran free agent option at the defensive line position.

Here’s what PFF’s Brad Spielberger had to say about former Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Will Gholston as a potential fit with the Chiefs:

Gholston is a seasoned veteran who has played at least 400 snaps in nine consecutive seasons. He can bring experience to a new regime while providing a consistent presence in base personnel on early downs. In 2022, Gholston had 22 defensive stops and missed on just 3.9% of tackle opportunities.

A former 2013 NFL draft pick by the Buccaneers, Gholston has 153 regular-season games and a decade of experience under his belt. He has some versatility and ability to play up and down the defensive line, which is something that we know Steve Spagnuolo likes, but the versatility might be a tad redundant given the skill sets the team already has in Kansas City.

Chiefs fans will know Gholston from chasing down Patrick Mahomes on his diving attempt in Super Bowl LV. Last season Gholston proved to be a capable early down run defender, but he didn’t provide much in the way of pass rush with no sacks on the year.

An addition along the defensive interior might make sense for Kansas City with Tershawn Wharton potentially opening training camp on the PUP list. Gholston simply might not be the skillset they need at the position given that fact. His presence also might stunt the development of sixth-round pick Keondre Coburn, who looks to play a big role in the defensive line rotation as a rookie.

One of the longest-tenured players on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ current roster, defensive lineman Will Gholston has been a mainstay in the trenches for more than a decade, surviving a long list of coaching changes and scheme switches.

After signing a one-year deal to remain in Tampa Bay last offseason, Gholston once again finds himself heading for free agency, after a frustrating 2022 season that saw the Bucs get bounced from the playoffs in the first round.

After Monday night’s wild-card loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Gholston spoke with the media about this tumultuous 2022 campaign, and whether or not he’d prefer to remain with the Bucs next season:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have boasted one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive fronts over the last few years, and they’re expected to maintain that high level of excellence this season, even after shuffling some of the roster in the defensive trenches.

The biggest addition, both literally and figuratively, is veteran Akiem Hicks, who replaces the departed Ndamukong Suh. He’ll team up with Vita Vea and Will Gholston to give the Bucs tons of experience up front.

After Tuesday’s training camp practice, Gholston spoke to the media about what the massive duo of Vea and Hicks will do for his position group.

Will Gholston would love to sack Jameis Winston: ‘I want to knock his block off’

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Will Gholston would love to get ahold of his old teammate in the backfield

They were teammates for five seasons, but now, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Will Gholston and New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston are division rivals.

In fact, when Gholston was recently asked on the Pewter Report podcast about which NFL quarterbacks he would love to sack, his eyes lit up when Winston’s name was mentioned.

While Gholston acknowledged that he still considers Winston “a brother” to him, he also said, “I want to knock his block off,” when asked about getting the chance to sack the Bucs’ all-time leading passer.

Gholston admitted that Winston probably would love to run him over, too.

Former Spartans William Gholston, Drew Stanton win Super Bowl with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former Michigan State Football players William Gholston and Drew Stanton will both get rings after the Tampa Bay Bucs won the Super Bowl.

Two former Spartans are now Super Bowl Champions. In a game that saw Le’Veon Bell and the Kansas City Chiefs face William Gholston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was Gholston who will be leaving with a ring. The Bucs beat the Chiefs in a lopsided 31-9 performance.

Former Michigan State Football quarterback Drew Stanton will also get a ring since he signed with the Bucs’s practice squad back in December.

While Gholston didn’t recorded any tackles in the game, he did have some important pressures on Patrick Mahomes. The Bucs were relentless in their pursuit of Mahomes, never letting him get comfortable, and Gholston played his role in that.

Former Spartan Will Gholston donates $225,000 to cancer research

Former Michigan State DE and current Tampa Bay pass rusher Will Gholston is donating nearly a quarter million dollars to cancer research.

I think it is safe to say that former Spartan pass rusher Will Gholston is having the best season of his career, and he has continued to give back during this unprecedented year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Monday, it was announced that Gholston is donating nearly a quarter-million dollars to the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Gholston had 44 tackles and 3 sacks for the Bucs this year as they qualified for their first playoff run since he was drafted by the team in 2013. They are now heading into a Super Bowl match-up with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Gholston has been a big part of that success.

Over Thanksgiving, Gholston first showed his big heart when he donated nearly 1,000 turkeys to families in the Detroit area. Now, in honor of Black History Month, Gholston is donating $225,000 to support research into cancer health disparities.

The donation will help fund discoveries in breast, colon, and prostate cancers, all of which disproportionately affect Black men and women. Gholston’s contribution will go to the Moffitt Cancer Center’s George Edgecomb Society, which seeks to end cancer health disparities in communities of color.

“When I was presented with the opportunity to donate and be a part of the betterment of cancer research for  Black communities, I could not think of a better way to honor my family,” Gholston said. “My father and uncle  both died battling cancer, and my mother has won her battle with cancer multiple times. This battle is hard. The  fight is hard, and any amount of research or help is huge in my eyes. I hope this donation helps others who are  fighting or may have to fight down the line. You can never get the time back, but with this effort we may be able  to add more time for others.”

Gholston’s father passed away due to lung cancer and his father passed away due to prostate cancer. His mother is also a breast cancer survivor who volunteers at Moffitt.

“We thank William and his family for their continued support of Moffitt. This donation carries great  thoughtfulness and intent, and will help fund critical research,” said Dr. Patrick Hwu, CEO of Moffitt Cancer  Center.

Le’Veon Bell, Felton Kansas City Chiefs heading to Super Bowl LV

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl.

Despite being inactive in the AFC Championship game, Le’Veon Bell will be heading to Super Bowl LV with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 38-21 on Sunday to advance. They will be playing fellow former Spartan Will Gholston and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Feb. 7.

Bell is currently out with a swollen knee he aggravated in practice and his status for the Super Bowl is currently unknown.

Former MSU Football DE Will Gholston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers heading to Super Bowl

Former Michigan State Football standout Will Gholston is heading to the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

MSU Football will have at least one representative in Super Bowl LV. Will Gholston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-26 in the NFC Championship game to head to the Super Bowl.

This is Gholston’s first playoff run and obviously his first Super Bowl. While he didn’t have any tackles or sacks in today’s games, he did provide some key pressures on Aaron Rodgers and definitely played a solid role in the victory.

Le’Veon Bell is currently playing the Buffalo Bills and looking to face off against his fellow Spartan in the Super Bowl.
