Titans players react to team’s flurry of positive Covid-19 tests

Will Compton wished those who tested positive well.

The Tennessee Titans are the first team in NFL to experience an outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020, as the team and NFL both confirmed on Tuesday.

Three players and five personnel have tested positive, and those cases have been confirmed, per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, so they aren’t false positives.

We still don’t know who exactly tested positive, but according to Dan Graziano of ESPN, all eight cases as asymptomatic so far, which means those who are infected aren’t showing symptoms.

Shortly after the news broke, Titans players took to Twitter with their reaction.

While there are obviously bigger fish to fry with the Titans dealing with a serious outbreak, this situation leaves Tennessee’s Week 4 game with the Pittsburgh Steelers very much up in the air.

One possible solution could be to postpone the game and move it to Week 7 when the Titans have a bye. In that scenario, the Steelers’ Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens could be moved to Week 8 when those two teams have a bye.

That would mean the Titans and Steelers both get off in Week 4, and the Ravens’ bye week would be moved to Week 7. For now, the Steelers have been told by the league to prepare as normal until they receive an update.

Titans’ Taylor Lewan, Will Compton try to recruit Jadeveon Clowney on Twitter

Compton and Lewan made a push to recruit Clowney on Thursday night.

In what looked like a coordinated effort, Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan and linebacker Will Compton both took to Twitter on Thursday night to recruit free-agent pass-rusher, Jadeveon Clowney.

Their pitches came shortly after it was reported by ESPN’s Dianna Russini that Clowney could sign “very soon” and that the Titans and New Orleans Saints are “making strong pushes” for the former No. 1 overall pick.

She also added that both teams are using their players and coaches to try and convince him via phone calls and texts, but apparently social media was another avenue after Lewan and Compton fired off a pair of tweets to Clowney at roughly the same time.

I’m not sure how Clowney feels about it, but Compton’s package is pretty enticing as a cherry on top of a deal that will be worth millions of dollars.

Publicly recruiting Clowney isn’t something new for Titans players, as both Lewan and safety Kenny Vaccaro have done so before.

Cornerback Johnathan Joseph, who is a close friend and former teammate of Clowney’s, has also publicly stated that he has tried to steer the 27-year-old in the Titans’ direction.

Whether or not all of this effort pays off remains to be seen, but clearly Tennessee is doing whatever it can to bring Clowney to Nashville.

Former Saints linebackers Will Compton, Jayrone Elliott sign with new teams

More players who once suited up for the New Orleans Saints have earned new NFL opportunities: linebackers Will Compton and Jayrone Elliott.

[jwplayer p8EALkhf-ThvAeFxT]

Two one-time members of the New Orleans Saints linebacker corps have earned new NFL opportunities: Will Compton signed with the Tennessee Titans (where he played in 2018) while Jayrone Elliott reunited with the Pittsburgh Steelers (who teamed up with him for five games in 2019).

Compton caught on with the Saints in the middle of training camp last summer, but was waived with an injury designation after getting hurt in a preseason game. He later joined the then-Oakland Raiders and started a few games down the stretch. Back in Tennessee, he has a shot at cracking the roster with strong practice performance.

Elliott became a Saints fan-favorite for his pass-rush upside in the 2018 preseason, but he didn’t make the team and ended up starring in the short-lived Alliance of American Football. He led the AAF in sacks for the San Antonio Commanders and briefly joined the Miami Dolphins last year, though he got more action with the Steelers. His familiarity with the system may give him an edge even late in training camp.

This is just the latest example of how deep this year’s Saints roster is. Players who once competed for real minutes in their defense have instead gotten looks with other teams, which has become something of a theme this summer. Cornerbacks who started games for the Saints like Ken Crawley and B.W. Webb are competing for backup jobs with the Arizona Cardinals. Half the players the Saints released at the start of training camp have already signed with new teams.

The Boy is back: Titans agree to terms with LB Will Compton

The Boy is back: Will Compton is officially a member of the Titans again.

The Boy is back: the Tennessee Titans and linebacker Will Compton have agreed to terms, the team announced on Thursday.

After getting a tryout with the Titans, ESPN’s Field Yates reported on Wednesday that Tennessee was expected to sign Compton — and that is indeed what happened.

Compton now returns to the same team he played for in 2018. The 30-year-old was a key contributor on special teams that season, and he’s likely heading for the same role, with a chance to get some snaps on defense in a backup role.

Compton spent the 2019 season with the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, where he played in nine games (four starts).

Along with Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, Compton is the co-host of the wildly successful “Bussin’ with The Boys” podcast, which was recently picked up by Barstool Sports.

Titans expected to sign LB Will Compton

Compton is set to re-join the Titans in the near future.

The Tennessee Titans brought back a familiar face in running back Jeremy McNichols on Wednesday, and are could add another name in the near future that fans will recall.

According to a report from Field Yates, the Titans are expected to sign Compton, who also co-hosts a podcast with left tackle Taylor Lewan.

Yates also reported earlier in the week that the Titans were hosting Compton for a tryout.

Compton played one season with the Titans back in 2018, recording 16 tackles and one pass defensed over 12 games.

Last year with the Raiders, Compton recorded 41 tackles in nine contests.

Over seven seasons in the NFL, Compton has tallied 306 combined tackles, 168 solo, one sack and three interceptions.

With the Lewan-Compton duo set to be reunited in Music City seemingly any time now, it just doesn’t get much better than this, folks.

Titans hosting free agent LB Will Compton

Free agent linebacker Will Compton visited the Titans this week.

The Tennessee Titans are hosting a familiar face in linebacker Will Compton, as was reported Monday.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the team had him come to Nashville for a tryout this week. Compton finished out the 2019 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, and currently hosts his own podcast with left tackle Taylor Lewan.

The linebacker played a single season with the Titans back in 2018, posting 16 tackles and one pass defensed over 12 games.

Compton has spoken highly of the Titans, especially general manager Jon Robinson.

“Jon Robinson sits in meetings,” he said. “Unless you really needed to talk about something and save face, you never saw Bruce Allen around at all,” Compton said. “Jon’s really involved. Just the communication from the top down. It all starts at the tip-top.”

Last year with the Raiders, Compton recorded 41 tackles in nine contests.

Over seven seasons in the NFL, Compton has tallied 306 combined tackles, 168 solo, one sack and three interceptions.

It will be interesting to see where the free agent lands next — and if that will be back in Music City with the Titans.

Former Titans LB Will Compton says time in Washington was ‘miserable’

Former Titans LB Will Compton says his time in Washington was “miserable.”

Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Will Compton did not enjoy his time with the Washington NFL team, as he recently revealed during an episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast.

Compton, who hosts the podcast along with Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, said his time in Washington was “the most miserable experience of my life” (H/T Mike Hogan of Sports Illustrated).

“It was the most miserable experience of my life,” Compton said. “We all tolerated it because if we complained, they reminded us that 1,000 people out there would take our jobs in a heartbeat.”

Compton then went into further detail about what went wrong during his time with the team, which lasted five seasons.

“It’s just up in flames. In the locker room, you did the best you could as players,” Compton explained. “Washington [D.C.] is such a melting pot of media, people trying to divide and politics that go on. Upstairs always seemed like a mess, but no one ever knew factual stuff. You could just chalk it up, they could be better about leadership organizationally.”

Washington has been in the news quite a bit lately.

Not only is the team in the process of changing its controversial name, but a recent report from the Washington Post detailed rampant sexual harassment of women within the organization.

Compton addressed the latter issue, saying he felt terrible for what those women have to go through.

“You hate it for everyone involved,” Compton said. “You hate it for the women involved who have to come out and talk about this. People that are getting called out and held responsible, that’s what you want.”

In the past, Compton has been very complimentary of how the Titans, a team he spent one season with, are run. He went on to commend general manager Jon Robinson for his involvement and communication.

“Jon Robinson sits in meetings. Unless you really needed to talk about something and save face, you never saw [former Washington GM] Bruce Allen around at all. Jon’s really involved. Just the communication from the top down. It all starts at the tip top. If a team has a bad head coach or a bad culture, it’s up to the people above them to get it right.”

Compton spent the 2019 campaign with the Raiders, playing in nine games (four starts). He remains available on the free-agent market.

‘Redwolves’ is gaining momentum among former and current Washington players

The debate for what the new team name in Washington should be is heating up, and Redwolves seems to be the leading candidate among fans.

It seems that the team name ‘Redwolves’ is picking up a lot of steam for Washington as they search for a new name going forward. With sponsors threatening the relationship, and growing outcries for the team name to change away from ‘Redskins,’ it has become apparent that the name will change at some point soon, but to what we don’t yet know.

There are a few candidates that have risen to the top, with Redwolves, Warriors, and Redtails leading the way. It appears that former Washington player Will Compton is a big fan of that idea, and current player Jonathan Allen agrees.

With an ode to an endangered native species in the southeastern United States, the Redwolves name also has a nod to the military as a helicopter squadron in the Navy Reserve. This seems to fit the criteria listed by Ron Rivera earlier in this process. Redwolves has also become a fan favorite on social media, where a petition has gained thousands of signatures lobbying fo this to be the name change.

We’ll see if Dan Snyder is listening to what his fans want.

Ex-Titans LB Will Compton says he’s set to hit free agency

Will Compton announced he’s set to become a free agent this offseason.

It’s a story so big that no one’s even talking about it.

At least those are the words of former Tennessee Titans linebacker Will Compton as he supposedly prepares to hit free agency.

He made the announcement via Twitter on Sunday evening.

So, where will Compton end up?

Well, there’s a chance he won’t be going anywhere. Compton, who was with the Las Vegas Raiders last season, thinks there’s “definitely” a chance he could remain with the team.

There’s plenty of possibilities though and after all, Compton did think there was a chance he’d never play football again when he launched his podcast last year.

“Nothing is off the table,” he wrote.

Compton played a single season with the Titans back in 2018, recording 16 tackles and one pass defensed over 12 games.

Last year with the Raiders, Compton tallied 41 tackles in nine contests.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out for Compton and several others around the league as free agency begins on March 18 at 3 p.m. CT.

Podcast owned by Taylor Lewan, Will Compton joins Barstool Sports

Both Compton and Lewan announced earlier in the week that they had some big news to announce, and it’s become clear as to what exactly that is.

Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan and current Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Will Compton launched their ‘Bussin’ With the Boys’ podcast last year, and have since taken it to new heights.

Both Compton and Lewan announced earlier in the week that they had some big news to announce, and it’s become clear as to what exactly that is.

The two have now joined the Barstool Sports Podcast Network.

[lawrence-related id=24826]

Here’s a look at a brief description of the podcast, which balances football with interesting topics that have left not just Titans fans, but a large audience laughing since it came into existence.

“Barstool Sports presents Bussin’ With The Boys. NFL players Will Compton (Oakland Raiders) and Taylor Lewan (Tennessee Titans) AKA “The Boys” sit down with a guest and bring their ridiculous-yet-insightful personalities to discuss various topics surrounding their lives. Each episode will bring different personalities from all industries to provide insight and conversations that will educate, make you laugh, and give you an inside scoop on their fast-paced lives.”

The podcast opened with late internet sensation and RPO podcast host Matt Neely running social media and digital marketing, with the University of Tennessee’s Zach Patton to the team.

“We want it to be fun and do something that not a lot of active players do,” Compton told Titans Wire back in May. “We want to hear insight on others personal journeys and share our own as well.”
