Third suspect arrested after Josh Reynolds shooting

A third person has been arrested in connection to the Josh Reynolds shooting.

A third suspect has been arrested in connection to the Josh Reynolds shooting from October, according to a report from The Denver Post‘s Shelly Bradbury.

Dirk Lisica-Lange, 31, was arrested last week “on suspicion of attempting to influence a public servant, a low-level felony,” according to Bradbury.

Last month, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, were arrested and their charges included six counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Reynolds and two companions were shot after leaving a club in the Denver area on Oct. 18. They were followed by suspects who fired “at least 30 rounds” into the vehicle carrying Reynolds and two others.

It was a “coordinated, organized” attack, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said in court this week, according to Bradbury.

Reynolds, 29, is a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos. He was already on injured reserve with a finger injury when the shooting happened, and the team described his wounds as minor. The receiver is eligible to return from IR and could be back on the 53-man roster later this week.

Report: Jets tried to trade a WR to Broncos this spring

The Jets offered Allen Lazard and a “Day 2 draft pick” to the Broncos for Jerry Jeudy, but Woody Johnson nixed the deal, per The Athletic.

Before the Denver Broncos agreed to trade wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns this spring, they received a better offer (in terms of draft picks) from another AFC team.

Former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas — who was fired this week — offered the Broncos a “Day 2 draft pick” and wide receiver Allen Lazard in exchange for Jeudy, according to a report from Zack Rosenblatt and Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

The second day of the draft features the second and third rounds, so that would have been better compensation for Jeudy than what the Broncos ended up getting from the Browns (fifth- and sixth-round picks).

The Jets deal was vetoed by New York co-owner Woody Johnson, according to the Rosenblatt and Russini report.

Getting a higher draft pick for Jeudy would have been nice, but Denver also would have inherited Lazard’s contract. The receiver, turning 29 next month, is scheduled to have base salaries of $11 million in 2025 and 2026.

After Johnson nixed the trade, the Broncos later traded Troy Franklin and Devaughn Vele in the NFL draft. Those receivers will have team-friendly contracts over the next four years with the highest cap hit among them being Franklin’s $1.4 million charge in 2027.

Broncos could get reinforcements from injured reserve this week

The Broncos have several players eligible to return from injured reserve and the physically unable to perform list this week.

Reinforcements could be on the way for the Denver Broncos this week.

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds (finger) and running back Tyler Badie (back) are both eligible to return from IR, and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) and linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) are eligible to return from the physically unable to perform list.

This afternoon is the deadline for Turner-Yell to be activated to the 53-man roster. If he is not activated, DTY will spend the rest of the season on reserve. Sanders has one more week remaining on his 21-day window to return.

Here’s a look at the team’s IR/PUP players going into Week 12.

Broncos eligible to return from IR/PUP

  1. LB Drew Sanders: Eligible to return since Week 5
  2. DB Delarrin Turner-Yell: Eligible to return since Week 5
  3. RB Tyler Badie: Eligible to return since Week 9
  4. WR Josh Reynolds: Eligible to return since Week 10

The Broncos also have two players — linebacker Alex Singleton (ACL) and offensive lineman Quinn Bailey (ankle) — who are on season-ending IR.

Broncos on season-ending injured reserve

  1. LB Alex Singleton: Out for season
  2. OL Quinn Bailey: Out for season

Denver linebacker Kwon Alexander and fullback Michael Burton are also out of practice squad elevations, and they seem likely to end up back on the 53-man roster at some point this season. The Broncos will have to make some tough decisions to make room for returning players in the coming weeks.

The All-22 angle of Bo Nix’s throw to Devaughn Vele is amazing

This throw from Bo Nix was incredible!

Facing a 2nd-and-7 in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw a 33-yard strike to wide receiver Devaughn Vele to pick up a first down.

Nix threw over a linebacker and inside a safety to deliver a perfectly-placed ball for Vele. The All-22 film became available on Monday and the behind the end zone angle is absolutely beautiful:

“We got some shell and some two-deep safety looks today which opens up the middle of the field,” Nix said after the game when asked about throwing over the middle of the field. “I feel like we have been confident with those throws all year long. Today we got through the progressions and got to some of them. Two off the top of my head was Vele over the middle between the safeties. I thought that was extremely courageous to go through there knowing you can possibly be hit.”

This is presumably one of the Vele catches that Nix referenced:

Courtland Sutton (seven receptions for 78 yards) and Vele (four receptions for 66 yards) were Nix’s favorite targets on Sunday.

“Those two are just typical of what you get from them every day,” Nix said. “They are always battling to find ways to get open. They do not care if they are going to take a hit. They are willing to go through there for the betterment of the team. Football is a tough game played by tough people. We know that we are going to have to continue to do that kind of stuff in all spaces of the field to have success. Sometimes you have to take what they give you and they were giving us some over the middle shots today.”

Here are a few more angles of Nix’s two impressive passes to Vele:

Broncos coach Sean Payton praised Nix’s impressive pass during his Monday conference call with reporters.

“There’s never been — on his part — a lack of confidence, relative to his location,” Payton said. “He’s extremely accurate, but the windows are just quicker [and] faster in our league. They’re open for a shorter period of time. I think that’s one example of many, but one example where, ‘Does he make that throw Week 1 or Week 2?’ I don’t know, but certainly we’re all getting a chance to see growth as it plays out week by week.”

Nix finished the game 28-of-33 passing (84.8%) for 307 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He has made huge strides from earlier this season and continues to make a case for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2026 five-star wide receiver

The Oklahoma Sooners are in pursuit of one of the top wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to land one of the best wide receivers in the [autotag]2026 recruiting class[/autotag] after issuing an offer to five-star prospect Tristen Keys.

Offered earlier this week, the Sooners are among some of the sport’s elites in their pursuit of the talented prospect out of Mississippi.

Keys is ranked as the No. 4 player in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports and the No. 1 wide receiver. Over at On3, he’s the No. 9 wide receiver and the No. 2 player in the class.

The first thing that stands out about Tristen Keys is his fantastic hands. He displays great grip strength and route running. Keys displays great footwork at the top of his routes to create separation and has the speed to run away from the defenders. He’s able to create yards after the catch at every level of the passing game. Keys is a physical runner that is willing to take on defenders but can also make people miss in the open field.

A little more than a year out from the 2026 early signing period, Keys is going to see his offer sheet continue to grow. He’s an incredible talent that will make whatever team he signs with a lot better.

According to 247Sports, Tennessee appears to be the early leader, with a crystal ball prediction from national recruiting analyst Tom Loy.

Broncos could give Marvin Mims more snaps at running back

“{We’re] just trying to find ways to get him touches,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Marvin Mims getting snaps at running back.

The Denver Broncos unveiled an unexpected twist on offense against the Kansas City Chiefs last week.

Marvin Mims, a wide receiver and Pro Bowl returner, spent a few snaps lined up in the team’s backfield. The 22-year-old speedster ended the day with three carries for 17 yards and four receptions for 13 yards (plus a 28-yard punt return).

During his mid-week media availability, Broncos coach Sean Payton noted that it’s not the first time we’ve seen this happen. Payton referenced Deebo Samuel and Kordell Stewart as players who were also utilized in unique ways.

“One of the things that we are tasked to do sometimes is, ‘Are we missing anything from an attribution [standpoint]?’” Payton explained. “When you watch him [Mims] return, you see him put his foot in the ground and you see his speed. Just talking to the offensive staff, [I said,] ‘Let’s come up with a tag that puts him…’ We’ve seen this before with different type of players. Whether it’s been Deebo [Samuel] or Kordell [Stewart]. He gives us a different speed element. There’s certain running schemes that he would be very comfortable with.

“Then the other thing what’s interesting is when you send him in the game with two other receivers, a tight end and a fullback. You think you’re in base, but you’re getting a nickel defense because they get — they’re looking at it as three receivers, a tight end and [Michael] Burton is playing halfback. It was just creating a package that some weeks we can expand on. Just trying to find ways to get him touches within the framework of what we do. I told him last week, you’re not changing positions but there are some things that I think he can help us with and we’ll try to look at it weekly.”

Mims isn’t switching to running back full-time, but this is a way for the Broncos to get him some more touches while also making scheming more difficult for defenses. So the receiver will likely continue to get occasional snaps at running back.

“He did a really good job,” fellow receiver Courtland Sutton said. “There were a couple of times I was on the backside on a couple of his runs. You’ll see him catch the edge and it was kind of like a punt return. You’ll see him catch the edge and he has that get up. To see him carry the ball and to handle those carries that they gave him that responsibility of carrying the ball, the way he handled it was really fun to see.

“He is explosive and dynamic with the ball in his hands. We get to see it on punt returns and kick returns. When he gets the ball on offense, he has those glimpses of the excitement he brings because of his speed. Watching him carry the ball is pretty fun and seeing him get some yards. I think there is more to come. It will be nice to see him continue to grow in our offense for sure.”

Through ten games this season, Mims has 15 touches on offense for 103 yards from scrimmage plus 389 yards on returns. We’ll see if he starts getting more opportunities in the final stretch of the season.

Broncos release Thursday injury report: Good news for returning WR

Broncos WR Josh Reynolds (finger) fully participated in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He has a 21-day window to return from IR.

The Denver Broncos are in pretty good health going into Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds (finger), safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) and linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) are all fully practicing and eligible to return to the 53-man roster.

Turner-Yell has one more week on his return window, Sanders has two more weeks and Reynolds has three weeks. Once a player who is on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list returns to practice, they have 21 days to be activated to the 53-man roster (or they remain on reserve for the season).

“Yeah so his clock — they all have a clock,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Reynolds on Wednesday. “We began his today and it’s just getting back into the football mindset. It’s good having him back on the field.”

Reynolds probably won’t be activated this week, but it’s good to see him back on the field. Expect the receiver to be activated within the three-week window.

Courtland Sutton delivers funny message to ex-teammate Justin Simmons

“Hey, bro, if you see me coming across the middle, just remember we’re friends,” Broncos WR Courtland Sutton told Falcons DB Justin Simmons.

After being cut by the Denver Broncos this offseason, veteran safety Justin Simmons landed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Simmons is now set to return to Empower Field at Mile High to face his old team when the Broncos host the Falcons on Sunday.

Denver wide receiver Courtland Sutton was asked about Simmons’ return during his media availability on Wednesday. After a serious response to the question, Sutton revealed a funny message he delivered to his ex-teammate ahead of the matchup.

“It will be fun,” Sutton said when asked about playing against Simmons. “Justin’s my guy, man. I’m obviously sad that we don’t get to share a locker room together anymore, but I’m happy that he found another home — happy that the Falcons knew the value that they were getting with signing him.

“Watching him on film, he’s still Justin Simmons. He’s the guy that goes out there and makes plays. … He’s such a smart player, such a reliable player. Really good tackler. Really good player at finding the ball, man. It’s going to be fun getting to go against him.”

Then came the money quote: “You know, practicing against him for years is one thing, but to get live bullets is going to be fun,” Sutton said. “I jokingly told him, ‘Hey, bro, if you see me coming across the middle, just remember we’re friends.'”

Simmons (30) and Sutton (29) were teammates with the Broncos from 2018-2023. After facing off in practice every day for six seasons, the safety and receiver are now set to face off as opponents for the first time on Sunday.

Broncos release injury report: WR opens 21-day window to return

Broncos WR Josh Reynolds (finger) returned to practice on Wednesday, opening his 21-day window to return from injured reserve.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds (finger) returned to practice on Wednesday, opening his 21-day window to return from injured reserve.

The Broncos now have three weeks to activate Reynolds to the 53-man roster. If he is not activated within the 21-day window, Reynolds will remain on IR for the rest of the season.

Reynolds was originally placed on IR on Oct. 12 after undergoing finger surgery. Less than a week later, Reynolds was shot in his arm and the back of his head after leaving a Denver-area club on Oct. 18. The Broncos described Reynolds’ wounds as minor, and two men have been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Denver safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) and linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) are also practicing and both players are eligible to return from the physically unable to perform list.
