Rickea Jackson named honorable mention All-America status by WBCA

Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson named honorable mention All-America status by WBCA.

Rickea Jackson earned All-America honorable mention status from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Jackson received the honor for a second consecutive year. She is one of 42 players to be named honorable mention All-America by the WBCA for the 2023-24 season.

Jackson also earned honorable mention All-America honors two times at Mississippi State.

She was a first-team All-SEC standout and has received All-America honorable mention acclaim  from USBWA and the Associated Press.

Jackson received all-conference honors from USA TODAY Sports and the league’s coaches. She was also a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award for a second consecutive year, recognizing the nation’s top forward.

She averaged 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Lady Vols in 2023-24.

Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson named to Cheryl Miller Award top 10 watch list.

Rickea Jackson is one of 10 candidates named for the 2023-24 Cheryl Miller Award watch list by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Jackson has made the top 10 list for a third time during her career.

The Cheryl Miller Award also recognizes the top small forwards in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Jackson is averaging 19.0 points and 8.9 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 regular-season.

Jackson joins Madison Booker (Texas), Mara Braun (Minnesota), McKenzie Forbes (USC), Yarden Garzon (Indiana), Kiki Jefferson (Louisville), Jordan King (Marquette), Aneesah Morrow (LSU), Alyssa Ustby (North Carolina) and Cotie McMahon (Ohio State).

Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby are WBCA All-America finalists for the 2022-2023 season.

The North Carolina women’s basketball program season did not end as they hoped, but there is no denying the impact team leaders Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby had this season.

Both Tar Heels have been named WBCA All-America finalists for their region. The other finalists include Georgia Amoore, Sonia Citron, Dyaisha Fair, Abbey Hsu, Diamond Johnson, Elizabeth Kitley, Ta’Niya Latson, Olivia Miles, Celeste Taylor, and Hailey Van Lith.

Kelly led UNC scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game. She also displayed ball-hawking skills, averaging 1.3 steals per game. Ustby, on the other hand, was North Carolina’s leader when it came to hitting the glass leading the team with 8.3 rebounds per game. Ustby also showed her ability to score, averaging 13.2 points per game.

The announcement on if Kelly and Ustby will make the final cut for WBCA All-America is expected to be released later this month.
