Toledo got quite a Valentine’s Day gift yesterday in the form of a commitment from a highly-ranked quarterback from the class of 2024.

Toledo got quite a Valentine’s Day gift yesterday in the form of a commitment from a highly-ranked quarterback from the class of 2024.

Mott (Mich.) three-star QB Kalieb Osborne announced his commitment to Toledo on his Twitter page. The statement he released was full of gratitude and humility:

“First, I want to thank God for blessing me with the abilities I have today. Without him, I wouldn’t be here. I want to thank Coach Fahr for all the time he put into me and pushing me every day from being my head coach and leader I follow. Next, I want to thank Coach Weiner for taking a chance on me and giving me an opportunity to play at the next level. I’d also like to thank Coach Parker as well for building a relationship with me. Lastly, I must thank my mom, my hero, my everything, I wouldn’t be here without you! With that being said, I am committed to the University of Toledo. GO ROCKETS! Kalieb Osborne #1”

Toledo is getting one of the top dual-threat QBs in the entire country. Osborne racked up 20 passing touchdowns this past season and another 19 touchdowns as a rusher. He is their first commit in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Going by the 247Sports composite rankings, Osborne (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) is ranked No. 46 at his position and No. 13 overall in the state. He also had offers from Central Michigan and Michigan.

3-star Michigan State Football commit DE Tyson Watson officially shuts down recruitment

The 3-star defensive end officially shutdown his recruitment on Monday.

Michigan State Football has had some unfortunate luck over the 2021 recruitment period with players de-committing. Tight end Jake Renda and defensive back Gabe “Spida” Nealy both rescinded their commitments to join other programs, so, when a player who has committed to the Spartans officially shuts down their commitment, it now comes with a sigh of relief.

The latest player to officially close their recruitment was 3-star defensive end Tyson Watson out of Waterford Mott.

Watson announced his recruitment shutdown on Twitter, which you can see below:

Michigan State Football already secured the commitment of one 3-star player out of Waterford Mott in 2020 athlete Kobe Myers. It looks like they also have a solid chance at securing the commitment of another Waterford Mott product in 3-star 2021 lineman Tyson Watson. On Wednesday, Watson included MSU in his top-5 final choices for his recruitment process.

Watson lists himself on Twitter as both an offensive tackle and a defensive end. 247sports has him evaluated as a strongside defensive end and has him listed as the No. 39 ranked player for that position in the 2021 class.

Here is Watson’s announcement, also noting that he will announce his final decision on April 17 at 3pm ET.

For what it’s worth, Allen Trieu of 247sports has Watson as a lock to go to Michigan State in their Crystal Ball Predictions.

Michigan State Football lands commitment of 2021 3-star WR/DB Kobe Myers

Kobe Myers, a 3-star athlete from Waterford Mott, has committed to Michigan State University.

Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Football team now have four commitments for the recruiting class of 2021, all four of whom are 3-star recruits. On Monday night, Waterford Mott 3-star athlete Kobe Myers committed to MSU.

Myers is the No. 57 ranked player in the state of Michigan according to the 247sports composite rankings. Myers is listed as an “athlete” which means he can play multiple positions, but from what I have seen when looking through what highlights are available it looks like he can play wide receiver, defensive back, and return kicks. Tucker is looking to stock his future squad up with speed and athleticism on the wings and size in the trenches, and Myers looks to be a good addition to that profile.

Here is his announcement via Twitter:
