New Orleans Pelicans at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The New Orleans Pelicans (25-30) are in the nation’s capital Friday for a 7 p.m. ET game with the Washington Wizards (21-33) Below, we analyze the Pelicans-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

NOLA’s three-game win streak was snapped Wednesday in a 116-106 loss to the New York Knicks. Over the last two weeks, the Pelicans are 4-4 straight up (SU) but just 3-5 against the spread (ATS) highlighted by an impressive home victory over the Philadelphia 76ers last Friday.

Washington just wrapped up a six-game road swing with back-to-back wins over the Utah Jazz Monday and the Sacramento Kings Wednesday. The Wizards were 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS in those six games.

A fully loaded Pelicans team rolled the Russell Westbrook-less Wizards 124-106 at home Jan. 27 in the first meeting of the season.

Pelicans at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 119, Pelicans 111

Money line (ML)

Both teams are hanging around the playoff race but the WIZARDS (+120) are playing much better basketball recently.

Also, both defenses rank in the bottom-10 in defensive rating, but Washington, according to CleaningTheGlass.com, has a winning record vs. teams in the bottom-10 of defensive efficiency (8-7) while NOLA has a losing record vs. such teams (8-11).

Slight “LEAN” to the WIZARDS (+120) for a quarter-unit because Washington plus the points is a better wager.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Pelicans are just 10-17 ATS as a favorite and 5-7 ATS as a road favorite against teams with losing records whereas the WIZARDS +2.5 (-110) are 22-19 ATS as underdogs.

Furthermore, the market has steamed the Pelicans from getting 1.5 points on the open line to this listed number, making this a “wrong team favored” situation. In sports gambling, it pays to be a contrarian.

Bettors have been overrating NOLA the entire season because PF Zion Williamson is one of the surest buckets in the Association, but the Pelicans don’t know how to close out games.

BET WIZARDS +2.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of Washington’s money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

According to Pregame.com, nearly 90% of the money is on the Over, which has moved the total up from 241.5 points on the opener.

The previous Pelicans-Wizards game had a 228-point total and I don’t think Westbrook playing in this game equates to a double-digit total difference between meetings.

“LEAN” to the UNDER 242.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Washington Wizards at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Washington Wizards at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (19-33) visit the Utah Jazz (40-13) at Vivint Arena at 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Wizards-Jazz odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Wizards were roughed up in Phoenix Saturday, 134-106, snapping a two-game win streak and three-game cover run. It was also a rare Over result as the Under was 5-1 in the past six for the Suns before that result.

The Wizards stunned the Jazz 131-122 as 10.5-point underdogs March 18 in D.C.

Utah rolled up a 128-112 victory against the Sacramento Kings to cover an 11.5-point spread. The Jazz have picked up wins in 11 of the past 13 games while covering seven of those outings.

Wizards at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 117, Wizards 107

Money line (ML)

The Jazz (-800) will cost you eight times your potential return, and you can’t do that over the long haul and be successful. Plus, Utah lost outright in Washington by a 131-122 count as 10.5-point favorites less than a month ago.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The WIZARDS +12.5 (-110) have cashed in three of the past four games, including an outright win as 4.5-point ‘dogs at Golden State Friday. The Wiz have also covered in two of the past three games as an underdog of nine or more points.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 234.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this game. The Under has connected in five of the past six for Washington as an underdog, while going 4-1 in the past five on the road as a ‘dog. The Over has dominated for Utah this season, but the Under is 5-3 in the past eight overall for the Jazz.

Washington Wizards at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Washington Wizards at Phoenix Suns NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (19-32) continue their road trip on Saturday, facing the Phoenix Suns (36-15). They are scheduled to tip-off at Phoenix Suns Arena at 10:10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Wizards-Suns odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Washington is playing its fourth game in a six-game road trip and is 2-1 so far, winning their last two games.

The Wizards are playing for the second night in a row, having defeated the Golden State Warriors 110-107 Friday night. Washington is only 9-16 on the road this season.

The Suns had a seven-game winning streak snapped by the Los Angeles Clippers 113-103 on Thursday night and are now on a five-game homestand.

Phoenix is second in the West, 2.5 games behind the Utah Jazz. Only the Jazz have more wins than the Suns this season.

Wizards at Suns: Odds, spread and lines

Wizards at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 125, Wizards 110

Money line (ML)

The Suns are the far superior team and have been playing extremely well, although the Wizards did beat them 128-107 at home Jan. 11. Despite the loss to the Clippers, the Suns have won 16 of their last 20 games.

They play well at home. But with the line at -900, while it is almost a sure win, it isn’t the best play because the payout is so small. Go to the spread and the total for better wagers.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

At 33-18 ATS, the Suns have the best ATS record in the league. They have failed to cover the spread in only three wins this season, although those three games have been in their last six wins.

Washington is 26-25 ATS overall and 8-4 ATS when they play on no rest. And while Phoenix is 18-9 ATS at home, Washington is 14-11 ATS on the road.

The Suns, who failed to cover the spread in Thursday’s loss to the Clippers, have not failed to cover the spread in two straight games since Jan. 27.

Take the SUNS -12 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Five of the last six games for the Suns have gone Over the total. The opposite is true for the Wizards, for whom five of the last six have gone Under.

Washington allows the second-most points in the league per game at 118.5 per game. Phoenix will surpass that. Even in a potential blowout, both teams will put up points.

Take OVER 227.5 POINTS (-115).

Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Washington Wizards at Golden State Warriors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (18-32) drop by Chase Center Friday for a 10 p.m. ET game against the Golden State Warriors (24-27). Below, we analyze the Wizards-Warriors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Washington broke its four-game losing skid by beating the tanking Orlando Magic 131-116 as a 4.5-point road favorite in All-Star SG Bradley Beal’s first game back from a five-game hiatus.

Golden State just snapped a three-game losing skid by upsetting a Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks team 122-121 as a 2.5-point home underdog. The Warriors are just 2-7 stright up and against the spread in their last nine games.

Wizards at Warriors: Odds, spread and lines

Wizards at Warriors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 122, Warriors 114

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to the WIZARDS (+155) for a one-fifth-unit if at all because I “LIKE” Washington to cover the spread and want to sprinkle on the underdog’s money line.

We’ve seen the Wizards get up for big games and even upset some quality opponents such as the Brooklyn Nets (twice), Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets and more. While this isn’t the Warriors of previous seasons, I’d assume Beal and PG Russell Westbrook are amped up for this matchup.

My hesitation is the Warriors need to right the ship if they don’t want to fall out of playoff seeding and, of course, the Wizards are bad.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of Washington’s money line.

Maybe I have a little too much “recency bias”, but this version of the Warriors we’ve seen in recent weeks shouldn’t be laying 4.5 points against anyone.

Golden State’s offense is too reliant on PG Stephen Curry and the defense has the second-highest FTA/FG rate in the Association and is 24th in rebounding percentage.

The Wizards are third in offensive FTA/FG rate and I’d give Washington’s frontcourt the edge over Golden State’s in this game.

Finally, according to Pregame.com, nearly three-fourths of the money is on the Warriors to cover.

This is a good spot to “fade the market” because I don’t think it is properly accounting for how shaky Golden State has looked recently.

BET WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 239.5 (-110) for a half-unit for a few reasons.

First, the market is hammering the Over but bookmakers have brought the total down from the 240-point opener, which is a red flag.

Also, while Washington and Golden State are first and second, respectively, in pace of play, they don’t execute well enough on offense to bet such a high total.

These teams are neck-and-neck in offensive rating with the Warriors ranked 21st and the Wizards 22nd.

Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (17-32) travel to meet the Orlando Magic (17-33) at Amway Center in Orlando Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Wizards-Magic odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Wizards play the second of a six-game road odyssey with a stop in O-Town. Washington kicked off the trip with a 103-101 loss against Toronto at Amalie Arena in Tampa.

The good news is that they covered the 5.5-point number as the Under cashed for the fourth straight outing.

The Magic just completed a five-game road trip against the Western Conference, going 2-3 SU/4-1 ATS while the Over connected in each of the past three.

These teams haven’t faced each other since a two-game set around the holidays in Washington.

Orlando swept the set, winning 130-120 on Dec. 26 as a two-point ‘dog, while willing 120-113 as two-point favorites on Dec. 27. The Over cashed in both games.

Wizards at Magic: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:49 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Wizards -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Magic +125 (bet $100 to win $125)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Wizards -3 (-110) | Magic +3 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 222.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Wizards at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 112, Wizards 109

Money line (ML)

The MAGIC (+125) are a value as short ‘dogs at home. Yes, they have a handful of players on the injury report, but Birch and MCW might be able to return.

The Wizards (-150) are just too risky heading into this one, losers of four in a row and seven of the past nine overall.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The MAGIC +3 (-110) are the play for those not quite feeling them straight up, although there isn’t a lot of wiggle room here.

Trust in Orlando, however, as they have covered six of the past seven games overall despite some injury issues.

The Wizards -3 (-110) are just 1-3 ATS in the past four, and they were swept by Orlando in the previous two.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 222.5 (-110) is the lean, but play it lightly. The Under has dominated for Washington lately, going 4-0 in the past four outings, and 6-1 in its past seven.

Yes, the Over is 3-0 in Orlando’s past three overall, and they hit the Over in their two-game sweep in late December at Washington.

However, the Wizards aren’t nearly as prolific on offense as the Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando’s past three opponents. And both teams are banged up, and a shell of the offenses we saw back in December.

Washington Wizards at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Washington Wizards at Toronto Raptors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (17-31) visit the Toronto Raptors (19-30) Monday at Toronto’s 2020-21 home court of Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. Tip-off will be shortly after 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Wizards-Raptors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors and Wizards are 11th and 12th, respectively, in the Eastern Conference. Toronto won the season’s first head-to-head meeting 137-115 Feb. 10 in D.C.

The Wizards are just 3-7 straight up over their last 10 games and have suffered three straight losses coming into Monday. The skid includes a 109-87 home loss to the Dallas Mavericks Saturday.

Toronto is just 2-8 straight up over its last 10 games but it most recently routed the Golden State Warriors by a 130-77 score Friday. The Raptors covered the spread by 48 points as 5-point home favorites.

Wizards at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 122, Raptors 118

Money line (ML)

The injury reports loom large over this one, but the early lean is to the WIZARDS (+165) as road underdogs.

Both teams are in the top half of the league in opponent points in the paint allowed over their last 10 games; however, Washington leads the NBA with 57.4 points in the paint per game on offense over its last 10 games and Toronto is just 27th (41.0).

The line seems to be leaning far too heavily into the Raptors’ 53-point beatdown of the Warriors. Golden State was without PG Stephen Curry and shot just 33% from the floor as a team while Toronto went 53% from the field and 43% from 3-point range.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Get the insurance and back the WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) to stay within 5 points in a loss if they come up short of the outright upset.

Toronto covered the spread by 16.5 points in the season’s first head-to-head clash but that was with recently-traded SG Norman Powell scoring a team-high 28 points.

Wizards PG Russell Westbrook will have his way against the undermanned Raptors’ backcourt and figures to be the best player in this game if both Beal and VanVleet are forced to sit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 228.5 (-110).

The Raptors scored a five-game high of 130 points Friday and that was without Lowry and with VanVleet going just 2-for-5 from the floor in 18:36 of playing time.

Even if Beal sits, the Wiz should be able to get their points against a Raptors team ranked 19th by defensive rating over their last 10 games.

Dallas Mavericks at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Dallas Mavericks at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Washington Wizards (17-30) host the Dallas Mavericks (26-21) Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at Capital One Arena. Below, we analyze the Mavericks-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

This is Dallas’ final contest in a five-game road swing. The Mavs won and covered the spread in each of their previous three games with the latest being a 99-86 beatdown on the New York Knicks Friday.

After a slow start, Dallas has quietly been climbing the Western Conference standings and sit in 7th (the first postseason tournament play-in seed) entering Saturday.

Washington lost back-to-back games coming into today including a 114-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets as a 4.5-point home underdog Tuesday and a 120-91 blowout by the Detroit Pistons as a 1-point road dog Thursday.

The Wizards have been without leading scorer SG Bradley Beal for the past three games and have lost five of their past seven games while going 3-4 against the spread.

These teams split last year’s regular-season series 1-1 but Washington covered the spread in both games despite Beal shooting .340/.190/.727 with a 91 offensive rating in those meetings.

Mavericks at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 119, Mavericks 114

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to WIZARDS (+155) for a quarter-unit if Beal can play. Wait until as close to tip-off as possible to get a final injury report because if he cannot play then just stick with Washington plus the points.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

While Wizards PG Russell Westbrook is regularly dogged online for his reckless play, Mavericks All-Star PG Luka Doncic is averaging 6 turnovers per game and Westbrook is averaging 3 steals per game in their four head-to-head meetings to date.

Westbrook out rebounds and throws more assists per game when playing against Doncic.

Furthermore, this would be considered a “bad spot” for the Mavs since they are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on no rest and the Wizards are 9-7 ATS as a home dog this season.

Finally, nearly 90% of the market is betting the Mavericks to cover here (according to Pregame.com) yet bookmakers are bringing the line down from Dallas being favored by 6 points on the opener.

The only reason why the House would make Dallas cheaper ATS is to goad bettors into taking action on the Mavericks.

Take WIZARDS +4.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Since Dallas is 9-4 O/U as a road favorite, Washington is 11-5 as a home dog and there are offense-focused superstars on the floor tonight, I “LEAN” OVER 226.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.

Charlotte Hornets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

The Washington Wizards (17-28) are seeking their third straight win on Tuesday night when they host the Charlotte Hornets (23-22) at the Capital One Arena, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET.

Below, we analyze the Hornets-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Hornets at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hornets 116, Wizards 109

Money line (ML)

The Hornets are clearly not the same team without Ball leading at point guard, but they’ve still been competitive in his absence. Their only loss in the last four games came on Sunday against the Suns, a narrow 101-97 overtime defeat.

The Wizards have won two in a row against the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers, but they were just 1-7 in their previous eight. I like the HORNETS (-155) to win on the road tonight.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Wizards will keep this one competitive so long as Beal is able to suit up. If he can’t go, the spread will move up from 3.5 points. If you want to get in on the 3.5-point margin now, only make a small wager because if Beal goes, Washington could very easily cover.

But if he can’t play, I like the HORNETS -3.5 (-110) to cover, so long as the line stays under 6 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

In the Hornets’ last 10 games, the total has only gone Over twice. They’re not as efficient offensively without Ball at the point, averaging 107.3 points per game in their last four without him.

The Wizards will be good for close to their season average of 114.8 PPG, but I still like the UNDER 229.5 (-110) here if the line remains around 230 points.

Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (21-23) visit the Washington Wizards (16-28) Monday for a 7 p.m. ET game at Capital One Arena. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Indiana has won four of its past five games while going 3-2 against the spread, including two straight wins against the Detroit Pistons Wednesday and a Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks Friday.

Washington snapped a three-game losing skid its last time out by beating up on the lowly Pistons 106-92, moving to 2-8 straight up and 4-6 ATS in its last 10 games. The Wizards slid to the 13-seed in the Eastern Conference as a result of their recent performance.

This is the first Pacers-Wizards game of the 2020-21 season but Indiana has won three in a row and five of its last six games against Washington (5-1 ATS).

Pacers at Wizards: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pacers -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Wizards +170 (bet $100 to win $170)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pacers -5 (-110) | Wizards +5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 234.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Pacers at Wizards: Key injuries

Pacers

  • SF Doug McDermott (ankle) questionable
  • SF T.J. Warren (foot) out

Wizards

  • SG Bradley Beal (hip) questionable
  • PF Davis Bertans (calf) out
  • PG Ish Smith (quadriceps) out

Pacers at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 118, Wizards 110

Money line (ML)

PASS because Indiana is the right side but the -200 tag is too steep of a price to pay for an outright victory.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Washington and its two leading scorers— Beal and PG Russell Westbrook—like to operate in the mid-range and, according to CleaningTheGlass.com, the Wizards attempt the third-highest volume of mid-range shots; however, Indiana is 12th in defensive mid-range shooting percentage.

Also, the Pacers attempt the second-highest rate of shots at the rim and the Wizards’ defense is 20th in defensive field goal percentage for shots at the rim.

Pacers SG Caris LeVert scored only 6 points in his first game this season against the Wizards (while with the Brooklyn Nets) but that was while he was coming off the bench with his former team. He scored 34 points in both of his starts against the Wizards last season.

Finally, Indiana has picked apart bad teams this season; the Pacers are 10-2 overall and seventh in net points per 100 possessions with a plus-4.7 ATS margin vs. teams in the bottom-10 of net efficiency, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

BET PACERS -5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight LEAN toward UNDER 234.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit even though most of the situational trends for both teams point to the Over.

At the moment, Beal’s game status is in question and if the current leading scorer in the NBA cannot play it’ll definitely improve the chances of the Under cashing.

Also, three of Washington’s last four games have gone Under the total by an average of 21.8 points including a 113-106 loss to the Nets which went Under by 29.5 points.

Detroit Pistons at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Detroit Pistons at Washington Wizards NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Detroit Pistons (12-32) take on the Washington Wizards (15-28) at Capital One Arena with an 8 p.m. ET tip-off Saturday. Below, we analyze the Pistons-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Pistons at Wizards: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:42 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pistons +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Wizards -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pistons +3.5 (-110) | Wizards -3.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 224.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

  • PF Dennis Smith Jr. (back) questionable

Wizards

  • SG Bradley Beal (foot) questionable
  • Daniel Gafford (acquisition) questionable

Pistons at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wizards 116, Pistons 107

Money line (ML)

Playing the WIZARDS (-160) on the money line is not a terrible idea, as then you need not worry about laying the two buckets.

The price is not out of line, and the home side is a good bet as the Pistons (+135) had a home game on Friday night and then had the travel and quick turnaround Saturday.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The WIZARDS -3.5 (-110) are a good bet despite the fact the Pistons +3.5 (-110) are a perfect 4-0 ATS in the past four games on the road.

However, while the Wizards are just 2-6 ATS in the past eight as a home favorite, they’re an impressive 4-1 ATS in the past five against teams with an overall losing record.

And Washington has covered four straight meetings in D.C. against the Pistons.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 224.5 (-110) is the way to go here. The Under has hit in each of the past four meetings in this series in D.C., making for a nice parlay with the home side. The Under has connected in five of the past eight overall for the Pistons, too.
