New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder meet in Game 2 of a best-of-7 Western Conference, 1st-round series Wednesday. The Thunder lead the series 1-0. Tip-off from Paycom Center is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The 8th-seeded Pelicans covered as 8.5-point underdogs in Game 1, but the host Thunder came away with the 94-92 victory Sunday as the Under (216.5) hit.

G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game-high 28 points for the top-seeded Thunder, who snapped a 4-game against-the-spread (ATS) winning streak. Gilgeous-Alexander scored the go-ahead bucket with 32 seconds remaining, handing New Orleans its 3rd loss in its last 4 games.

Oklahoma City is 3-0 straight up and 2-1 ATS vs. New Orleans in the last 3 head-to-head meetings, and the Under has hit in 6 of the last 9.

Pelicans at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 106, Pelicans 103

Moneyline

The Thunder (-350) are 34-8 at Paycom Center this season after Sunday’s win, good for the 3rd-best home record in the NBA. The Pelicans, even if they have a lead, will most likely struggle to close this game out without their leading scorer in Williamson (22.9 points per game).

However, it’s a losing proposition long term to bet -350 favorites in the NBA.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

The Thunder are among the weaker No. 1 seeds in recent memory, due to their lack of playoff experience. Typically, the No. 1 seed in the better conference wouldn’t be +1400 at BetMGM Sportsbook to win the NBA Finals. The Thunder avoided the upset in Game 1, but they haven’t been downgraded enough for their performance.

The Pelicans have veterans like G CJ McCollum and C Jonas Valanciunas, who have made postseason runs with the Portland Trail Blazers and Toronto Raptors, respectively. Give me the veterans catching 7.5 points against the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history — the average age on the Thunder is 23.4 years old.

BET PELICANS +7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has been cashing regularly in Pelicans-Thunder matchups, and Game 1 was no exception. These teams play each other tight, and without Williamson on the floor, I expect Game 2 to unfold in a similar fashion to Sunday night’s low-scoring affair.

BET UNDER 211.5 (-110).

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -8.5 (-105).

The Pelicans are without Williamson, who leads the team with 22.9 points per game.

NBA Play-In Tournament: Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans welcome the Los Angeles Lakers to Smoothie King Center Tuesday. Tip-off for this Play-In Tournament battle is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Lakers vs. Pelicans odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Lakers won 3-1

The Pelicans (49-33) finished 7th in the Western Conference, 2 games ahead of the 8th-place Lakers (47-35). The winner will claim the 7th seed in the playoffs, while the loser will host the 9-10 play-in game winner — Golden State or Sacramento — Friday in a one-game showdown for the No. 8 seed.

Not only did the Pelicans go 1-3 vs. the Lakers in the regular season, they went 1-3 against the spread (ATS), too. However, they won 4 of their last 5 games, but they did get upset by the visiting Lakers 124-108 Sunday as 1.5-point home favorites. New Orleans is 43-37-2 ATS on the season and 20-20 ATS at home, per Covers.com.

The Lakers, who won the In-Season Tournament, have won 6 of their last 8 games, including Sunday’s victory in NOLA, but they were just 4-4 ATS in the span. Los Angeles finished the season 38-44 ATS and 18-22 ATS on the road.

Lakers at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Lakers 118, Pelicans 112

Moneyline

BET LAKERS (-112).

Simply put, the Lakers have had the Pelicans number recently. Along with the 3-1 showing vs. New Orleans this season, the Lakers are 6-2 vs. the Pels over the last 2 seasons.

In the 3 wins this season, L.A. scored at least 124 points and it scored 130 or more twice. One of those victories was a 133-89 In-Season Tournament semifinal rout in Las Vegas with the Lakers being 2-point favorites.

And of course, the Lakers have LeBron, which makes them a tough team to bet against.

The Pelicans played star player F Zion Williamson 34 minutes Sunday, and still lost by 16. While they have been good as underdogs, they may struggle against the Lakers’ experience and size.

Considering how the last 2 season series played out and the experience of Los Angeles, BACK LAKERS (-112).

Against the spread

PASS.

The spread and moneyline are so close that there is little reason to take one over the other. Considering this game should be close, taking the moneyline is preferred, zeroing out any chance of a push.

Over/Under

BET OVER 223.5 (-110).

If there’s one thing both teams have done consistently the last few weeks, it is cashing Over tickets.

The Lakers are the league’s best Over team at 47-34-1 O/U. They hit the Over in their last 4 games, scoring at least 117 in all 4 and allowing 120 or more in 3 of the 4.

The Pelicans have gone Over in 5 of their last 8 and are 5-2-1 O/U in that span. New Orleans has tallied at least 110 points in 4 of its last 5 games.

The Lakers-Pelicans season series was also 3-1 O/U.

Both teams have the firepower to score with ease.

BACK OVER 223.5 (-110).

New Orleans Pelicans at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Sacramento Kings odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (47-32) square off against the Sacramento Kings (45-34) Thursday with tip-off from Golden 1 Center set for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Kings odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Pelicans lead 4-0

The Pels have won 2 straight after road victories over the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers. They lost 5 of 6 before that stretch as they arrive in Sac Town. Oddly enough, all of those losses were at home, and they’ve won 4 straight on the road. G Trey Murphy III opened up his game with 31 points and 8 boards Tuesday against Portland, and he has been in double figures in 8 straight.

The Kings had a 1-3 road trip after a 112-105 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder Tuesday. C Domantas Sabonis was ineffective with just 8 points on 2-for-7 shooting, 13 boards and 5 assists. G Keon Ellis introduced himself with 26 points on 8-for-15 from 3-point land.

Pelicans at Kings and predictions

Prediction

Kings 111, Pelicans 107

Moneyline

We’re going to buck some trends here, but I’ll serve you a large helping of rationale.

The Pelicans have the fact they’ve won all 4 meetings working against them. It’s extremely hard, especially against a playoff team, to beat a team 5 times in a regular season. The Pelicans have won 4 straight road games. Cash is pouring in on the Pelicans, but I mentioned the emergence of Ellis in the opening. This is big because the Kings have been searching for another depth option behind Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox with Huerter and Monk out. He dropped 13 on 3-for-3 shooting from 3-point land in 12 minutes last time these teams met.

Take KEON ELLIS OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

If you’re on board with the Kings getting some revenge on their home court, the KINGS -1.5 (+100) provides the most value. The Pelicans are playing without Ingram, and while they’ve won 4 straight on the road, their uninspiring play at home is rather glaring.

Over/Under

The Pels are 4-6 O/U over their last 10, and Sacramento is 2-8. The Under is 3-1 in this matchup this season. This total is nearly 20 points lower than the next lowest total they’ve squared off at.

I think this one sneaks OVER 215.5 (-110).

New Orleans Pelicans at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (46-32) make the 2nd stop on a 4-game road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers (21-57) Tuesday. Tip-off at Moda Center is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Pelicans vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Pelicans lead 2-0

The Pelicans kicked off the road trip with a 113-105 win as 5.5-point underdogs at the Phoenix Suns Sunday as the Under (221) cashed. That halted a 4-game losing streak and an 0-4 against-the-spread (ATS) non-cover skid. The Pelicans are just 2-6 ATS in their past 8 games.

The Trail Blazers were spanked 124-107 by the Boston Celtics last time out on Sunday, but they pushed against the number as 17-point underdogs. Portland won its previous games, which were in Charlotte and Washington, and it is a respectable 3-0-1 ATS in the past 4 contests, with the total going low in 3 of the past 4 outings.

Pelicans at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 115, Trail Blazers 104

Moneyline

The Pelicans (-1000) will set you back 10 times the potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. Plus, while the Trail Blazers (+625) are a little banged up at the moment, they have at least been competitive, and haven’t shown any signs of throwing in the towel lately.

PASS.

Against the spread

The TRAIL BLAZERS +13.5 (-110) are worth a look as this is an awful big number to catch at home.

The Pelicans have covered just once in the past 5 games, while going a dismal 2-6 ATS in the past 8 outings.

On the flip side, Portland is a solid 3-0-1 ATS in the past 4 games, and it is a respectable 3-3-1 ATS in the past 7 tries as a double-digit underdog, including each of the past 2 at home against the Denver Nuggets and LA Clippers.

Over/Under

OVER 213.5 (-115) is the way to go in this Western Conference clash.

The Under cashed in Phoenix Sunday for the Pelicans, but the Over is 3-1 in their past 4 games.

For Portland, the Over cashed last time out in Boston, and the total has ended up going high in 8 of the past 12 games, including the most recent meeting with the Pelicans March 16 in NOLA.

Season series: New Orleans leads 3-0

San Antonio Spurs lost 110-105 to the Denver Nuggets Tuesday, covering as a 15.5-point road underdog. The Spurs outrebounded Denver 59-52, but were not able to overcome C Nikola Jokic and his 42 points and 16 rebounds. San Antonio has lost back-to-back games after winning 3 straight, but is 5-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last 5 games.

New Orleans was beaten 117-108 by the Orlando Magic Wednesday while failing to cover as a 4.5-point home favorite. Spurs at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 110, Spurs 107

Moneyline

PASS.

The Pelicans (-750) should pick up the win, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN SPURS +11.5 (-110).

San Antonio has covered the spread in each of its last 5 games and is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 outings. New Orleans has failed to cover the spread in each of its last 3 games and is only 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games. The Spurs also covered in their last matchup vs. the Pelicans.

This is only a lean because the Pelicans are a dominant 8-2 ATS in their last 10 matchups vs. the Spurs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 220.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in 3 of the last 4 Spurs-Pelicans meetings and is also 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New Orleans. The Under also hit in San Antonio’s last outing and has hit in 2 of New Orleans’ last 4.

Magic at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 111, Magic 104

Moneyline

PASS.

There is better value on the Pelicans (-175) spread.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS -4.5 (-105).

Orlando has failed to cover in 4 of its last 5 games. It has scored 104 or fewer points in 3 of its last 4 games and will not be able to keep up with a Pelicans squad that has scored 111 or more points in 4 of its last 6. New Orleans is 2-1 ATS in its last 3 home games while playing as a favorite.

Over/Under

BET OVER 208.5 (-105).

While both squads have performed poorly against the Over recently, 208.5 is too low of a total to feel comfortable betting the Under. The Magic have scored 104 or more points in 8 of their last 10 while allowing 100 or more in 5 of their last 6 games. The Pelicans have scored 104 or more points in 9 of their last 10 while allowing 100 or more in 8 of their last 10.

Suns at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 113, Pelicans 108

Moneyline

The Suns are tough to read. They have lost 3 times to the San Antonio Spurs, but beat the Nuggets twice in Denver. They blew out the Pelicans in New Orleans in January 123-109 behind 52 points from G Devin Booker. They have beaten the Pelicans in 5 of the last 7 meetings.

They are 20-17 on the road this season and 2-2 on this road trip. They have not lost back-to-back games since dropping 2 straight March 2-3 to Houston and Oklahoma City.

The Pelicans have not lost consecutive games since Feb. 23-25 to Miami and Chicago.

Given the Suns’ up-and-down performances, they should come out and play well in this game. And you can get even money odds.

BET SUNS +100.

Against the spread

The Suns have covered the spread in their last 5 wins. They only have one 1-point win, so chances are that if they win the game, it will be by 2 or more.

But the even-money odds on the ML is the best bet on the Suns.

PASS.

Over/Under

Their 1st meeting this season had 232 total points. Their last 5 meetings have had more than 225 total points.

Three of the Suns’ last 5 games and 6 of their last 10 have had totals of at least 225. But 2 of their last 3 have not reached 225.

Eight of the Pelicans’ last 10 have stayed below 225 points.

BET UNDER 224.5 (-110).

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (45-28) welcome the Boston Celtics (57-16) to Smoothie King Center Saturday. Tip is set for 5 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Celtics vs. Pelicans odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Celtics beat the Pelicans 118-112 at home Jan. 29, failing to cover as 8-point favorites. Boston is coming off back-to-back losses on the road to the Atlanta Hawks. Celtics at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 115, Pelicans 110

Moneyline

PASS.

The Celtics (-240) are the healthier side and have won 6 of their last 8 on the road. They should come out on top, but there’s no value on backing them at -240.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS +6 (-108).

New Orleans is 6-4 ATS this season as a home underdog. Similarly, Boston has been a road favorite more than any other team in the NBA, and it is 17-16-3 ATS in the position.

The Pelicans are 3-1 ATS and straight up over their last 4 home games. The Celtics, while over the last 2 weeks have been strong for bettors, are just 2-3 ATS over their last 5.

Considering the recent trends and success in this situation, back PELICANS +6 (-108).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 223 (-110).

The Celtics have been on fire offensively as of late. They have gone Over in 5 straight games and in 7 of their last 8. They have scored at least 117 in every game since March 9 (11 games).

Boston has allowed at least 113 in 3 straight as well. The Pelicans have capable playmakers as well and have tallied at least 111 in 3 of their last 4 games, going 2-3 O/U in their last 5.

Back OVER 223 (-110).
