Trayce Jackson-Davis seen working out with Warriors

The Golden State Warriors rookie could be nearing a return to fitness which would result in him making his Summer League debut.

On June 22, the Golden State Warriors added Trayce Jackson-Davis to their roster with the 57th pick in the draft. Unfortunately, the 6’10” forward has been dealing with a hamstring injury and has missed Golden State’s first few Summer League games.

However, on July 9, C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle posted a video to Twitter showing Jackson-Davis working out with his teammates and moving well. Holmes also noted that Jackson-Davis would not participate in Golden State’s July 9 contest against the New Orleans Pelicans.

At present, Jackson-Davis is one of the tallest players on the Warriors’ roster as they continue to search for additional size in free agency.

Currently, there is no timeframe set for Jackson-Daivs’ debut for the Warriors, as the franchise looks to bring him along slowly and ensure his hamstring does not continue to be a lingering problem throughout his rookie years.

Last season, Jackson-Davis participated in 32 games for the Indiana Hoosiers, averaging 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 58.1% from the field. It will be interesting to see how Steve Kerr looks to utilize Golden State’s latest rookie, as he seldom attempted a perimeter jump shot during his collegiate career.

The Warriors now have a short break in Las Vegas and won’t be back in action until Wednesday, July 12, when they will face the Dallas Mavericks. Fans will likely be hoping that Jackson-Davis will be closer to making his Summer League debut so that they can get a closer look at their team’s latest recruit.

Fortunately, the play of Brandin Podziemski and Lester Quinones has been providing Warriors fans with plenty to talk about since Summer League got underway.

Report: Isaiah Thomas to likely seek a ‘ clearer opportunity’ after strong workouts with the Warriors

The Warriors and Isaiah Thomas were reportedly unable to come to a deal

The Golden State Warriors made headlines last week as they brought in two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas for workouts. While there initially looked to be hope that the Warriors and Thomas could potentially work out an agreement for the upcoming season, the former Celtics star is now reportedly seeking a different opportunity.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Thomas had a strong week of workouts with Golden State. The issue was more of what the Warriors wanted to prioritize for their final few roster spots. Per Slater, Thomas left without a deal and will look for an opportunity that provides a clearer path to making an NBA roster:

Thomas last played in the NBA on a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2021 season. Since his NBA All-Star seasons in 2016 and 2017, the former Washington Husky has dealt with chronic injury issues that have limited his mobility and effectiveness. A hip issue has kept Thomas out for much of the past few seasons as he looks to climb his way back into the NBA.

Proving their commitment to wing depth, the Warriors signed veteran wing Avery Bradley earlier today.

While the roster construction didn’t work out for the Warriors, there will certainly be other chances for Thomas to get himself back into an NBA rotation providing he stays healthy.

NBA: Golden State Warriors roster for 2020-21 season

Before the Golden State Warriors begin the 2020-21 NBA season against the Brooklyn Nets on opening net, take a look at their 20-man roster.

Last season, the start of the San Francisco Chase Center era did not go as planned for the Golden State Warriors.

With Klay Thompson missing the entire season with a torn ACL in his knee and Steph Curry only playing five games due to a hand injury, the Warriors’ streak of five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals came to a close.

After missing an invite to the NBA’s Orlando Bubble with a league-low 15-50 record, the Warriors haven’t laced up for a basketball game in nine months. After an extended layoff, a healthy edition of Curry is slated to lead the Warriors for their 2020-21 campaign.

Although the two-time Most Valuable Player will be back as the starting point guard, the team surrounding Curry will look quite different in comparison to the last time the Warriors made a run to the postseason.

Following a torn Achilles late in the offseason, Thompson will miss his second consecutive season with a significant injury.

With Thompson sidelined, offseason addition Kelly Oubre Jr. and No. 2 overall draft pick James Wiseman will likely slide into the rotation alongside Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Curry.

Before the Warriors open the season against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22, here is a look at the rest of Golden State’s roster for the 2020-21 NBA calendar.

Mychal Mulder is proving himself as a competitor to Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr praised Mychal Mulder’s defense and competitive toughness after scoring in double figures in back-to-back games.

Trades and injuries have opened up Golden State as a destination for players on 10-day contracts. Since the NBA trade deadline, the Warriors have circulated through a handful of 10-day players in their rotation.

Currently, Golden State has three different players on 10-day deals. Dragan Bender, Mychal Mulder are both with the Warriors on 10-day contracts with Chasson Randle expected to sign a deal with the team soon.

Over the past two games, one player is proving he belongs in the NBA longer than 10-days. Mulder, a former member of the G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, has made an impact since joining the Golden State Warriors.

Mulder started his NBA career against the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring only two points. However, in the Warriors 18 point comeback against the Phoenix Suns, Mulder tallied 14 points and six rebounds while holding Devin Booker to 21 points on 6-of-16 shooting.

Mulder followed up his impressive game against the Suns with a 17 point effort against the Wizards. The Kentucky product added two rebounds, an assist, block and steal with Washington in town.

After the Warriors 124-110 loss to the Wizards, Kerr praised Mulder as a competitor.

Via Warriors SoundCloud:

He’s a really good player. I’m impressed by not only his shooting but his defense. Last night he took on a really good challenge with Devin Booker. Tonight we out him on Beal at times. He accepts the challenge. Plays bigger than he is. When you’re on a 10-day, it feels like every play is important, every shot is important — it’s not easy to relax and just go play. I thought last night was a really good indication of what kind of competitor he is. He was 0-fo-4, 0-for-5 in the third day of his contract and the clock is ticking and he just kept shooting, kept firing, kept defending and helped us win the game. Came back and had a great game again today. He’s a competitor and a really good player.

Through shooting, defense and praise from his head coach, Mulder is earning more playing time in Golden State. The 6-foot-3 guard will have three more games on his contract before the Warriors have to decide if they want to keep him past 10 days.
