Warriors release 2023 preseason schedule

The Golden State Warriors preseason schedule is here.

Mark your calendars; the Golden State Warriors preseason schedule is here.

On Wednesday, the Warriors officially rolled out their preseason schedule with the opening game against a familiar foe. To start the preseason, the Warriors will match up against LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 7 at Chase Center.

Following a pair of preseason games against the Lakers, the playoff rematches will not stop for the Warriors. They will head back to Sacramento for a preseason contest against their 2023 first-round playoff opponent, the Kings.

After two games against the Kings, the Warriors will wrap up the preseason with their final tune-up game against the San Antonio Spurs at Chase Center on Oct. 20. With the Spurs in town, the Warriors will likely get the chance to see first overall pick Victor Wembanyama in the preseason.

The start of the preseason will also mark the first chance to see Chris Paul suit up alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

As the Warriors gear up to get back on the court, below is all you need to know about the 2023 preseason schedule.

Warriors vs. Lakers takeaways: Without Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Jordan Poole helps secure another preseason win, 111-99

Without Steph Curry and Draymond Green, 18 points from Jordan Poole helped the Warriors secure another preseason win over the Lakers, 111-99. Here are the takeaways.

While the Los Angeles Lakers rolled out their new-look lineup with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony, the Golden State Warriors were without two of their starters for Tuesday’s preseason contest.

Despite Steph Curry and Draymond Green missing the game for a rest day, the Jordan Poole show displayed no signs of slowing down.

Against the Lakers in Hollywood, the third-year guard continued his impressive preseason run with a team-high 18 points in 19 minutes. Poole shot 7-of-14 from the field with five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Behind Poole and 16 points from Damion Lee, the Warriors cruised by the Lakers for the second consecutive preseason game, 111-99.

Before the Warriors meet the Lakers for the season opener on Oct. 19, here are three things to know from Tuesday’s contest at Staples Center:

Gary Payton II

After missing the first three preseason games with a hernia, Gary Payton II returned to Golden State’s lineup on Tuesday night. In 11 minutes off the bench, the Oregon State product tallied 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.

Payton II impressed on the defensive side of the floor, swiping a steal and blocking one shot.

The 28-year-old guard is one of the players in competition with veteran Avery Bradley for Golden State’s 15th and final roster spot before the start of the 2021-22 regular season.

Andrew Wiggins

Through two games, Andrew Wiggins has shot 4-of-16 from the field and 2-of-6 from long distance. A tough preseason continued for Wiggins on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Wiggins tallied 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the floor and 1-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Over three games in the preseason, Wiggins is shooting 35.7% from the field and 21.4% from deep.
The former No. 1 overall pick will have one more preseason game to get back on track before the start of the regular season.

Moses Moody

With Curry out, rookie Moses Moody received an increase in playing time against the Lakers. Yet, he couldn’t capitalize.

The 2021 No. 14 overall pick went scoreless in 22 minutes off the bench on Tuesday. Moody shot 0-for-7 from the field and 0-3 from long distance. The former Arkansas Razorback has recorded two scoreless contests in four appearances in the preseason.

Nuggets vs. Warriors: Jordan Poole, Otto Porter Jr. lead Golden State to second win in preseason, 118-116

Jordan Poole and Otto Porter Jr. helped push the Warriors to a comeback preseason win over the Nuggets at Chase Center. Here are the takeaways:

After opening the preseason with a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, it looked like the Golden State Warriors were in trouble in game two against the Denver Nuggets.

In the opening quarter, the Warriors quickly fell behind by 13 points. Despite giving up a 17 point advantage to Denver, Golden State battled back behind Jordan Poole and Steph Curry.

In only 15 minutes, Curry gave Golden State’s offense a spark, scoring 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field. The reigning NBA scoring champ buried four 3-pointers from deep before going to the bench for the rest of the game.

Curry’s burst helped the Warriors cut the Nuggets’ advantage down and take the lead heading into halftime.

Jordan Poole continued his red-hot run through the preseason with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor with three assists, a steal and a rebound in 23 minutes.

Behind Curry, Poole and help off the bench from Otto Porter Jr., the Warriors were able to hold off Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, 118-116.

Here are three other takeaways from Wednesday’s contest:

Otto Porter Jr.

Outside of Poole, one of Golden State’s preseason standouts has been the arrival of Otto Porter Jr. The veteran wing capitalized on his performance in Portland with another impressive run against the Nuggets.

Porter Jr. served as the Warriors’ leader off the bench, notching 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field with nine rebounds and three assists. The Georgetown product showed off his shooting ability, knocking down four triples on six attempts from deep.

Jonathan Kuminga

After six minutes of action, Jonathan Kuminga’s performance came to an end against the Nuggets. The No. 7 pick from the 2020 NBA draft left the game knee injury. After the game, Steve Kerr said the rookie “tweaked” his knee. Kerr and the Warriors didn’t provide an update on the status of his injury.

Prior to leaving the game, Kuminga logged three points on 1-of-2 shooting from the field with two rebounds and an assist.

Moses Moody

After going scoreless in his first preseason contest, the No. 14 overall pick got on the board against the Nuggets on Wednesday. In 11 minutes off the bench, Moses Moody tallied six points on 2-of-4 shooting from the floor. Both of Moody’s buckets came from beyond the arc. The Arkansas product added three steals and two boards while he was on the court against the Nuggets.

Warriors vs. Trail Blazers: Jordan Poole drops 30 points on way to win in preseason opener, 121-107

Jordan Poole dropped 30 points on the way to helping lead the Warriors to a victory over the Trail Blazers in the preseason opener, 121-107. Here are three things to know from Monday’s contest:

On Monday night at the Moda Center, the Golden State Warriors’ 2021-22 campaign got officially underway with their preseason opener against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Shortly after the opening whistle, it didn’t take long for potential breakout candidate Jordan Poole to get going. With the chance to start alongside Steph Curry, the third-year guard didn’t mess around. In the first four minutes, Poole launched four triples, drilling two from beyond the arc.

In only three-quarters of action, Poole led the game in scoring, tallying 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor. The Michigan product caught fire from deep, hitting seven triples on 13 attempts from deep.

With Poole heating up and 13 points each from Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, the Warriors went on to cruise to a 121-107 victory over the Trail Blazers to start the preseason.

Here are three other things to know from Monday’s contest:

Otto Porter Jr.

With Poole in the starting lineup, the Warriors will need someone to provide a scoring boost off the bench. On Monday, newly signed veteran wing Otto Porter Jr. answered the bell.

Porter Jr. tallied 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor with four rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench. Porter Jr. drilled four 3-pointers on seven attempts from deep.

Letting it fly

Against the Trail Blazers, the Warriors didn’t fear the 3-point line. Steve Kerr’s offense jacked 69 3-pointers on Monday night, hitting 24 from downtown.

Poole led the way with seven makes; Porter Jr. followed with four. Curry and Mychal Mulder each buried three 3-pointers. Andrew Wiggins, Nemanja Bjelica, Avery Bradley, Damion Lee and Draymond Green each added triples during the contest.

Rookie debuts

Monday night served as the preseason debuts for new draft picks Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. However, it was a quiet night for the rookie pairing.

Kuminga recorded 11 minutes off the bench, notching five points, two rebounds and a steal. Moody went scoreless in nine minutes, recording two rebounds and two assists.

The rookie tandem will get the chance for more playing time on Wednesday in front of Golden State’s home fans at Chase Center when the Denver Nuggets come to the Bay Area for another preseason contest.

Steph Curry stats and highlights from Warriors preseason opening win vs. Nuggets

In his return to Chase Center for the Warriors’ first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, Steph Curry tallied 10 points in 21 minutes.

After capping off his pregame shooting routine with a new signature tunnel shot, Stephen Curry suited up for his first game in nine months.

The two-time Most Valuable Player laced up his new Curry Brand shoes against the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center for Golden State’s first preseason game of the 2020-21 run.

Following his hand injury that limited Curry to only five games in the 2019-20 campaign, the six-time All-Star guard was able to shake the rust off in Golden State’s preseason opener.

It only took Curry three minutes to notch his first points of the preseason. The sharpshooting guard swished an open three-pointer coming off a screen from Kevon Looney in the first quarter.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

However, Curry would only hit one more triple for the rest of the contest. Curry’s next triple came on a pull-up jumper on a fast break. Curry picked up the loose ball after a Kelly Oubre Jr. block in the third quarter. The 32-year-old scurried down the other end of the court to opt for a 22-footer instead of a layup.

Curry finished the game with 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field with three assists, two steals and a board in 21 minutes.

The Golden State point guard’s most impressive highlight might have come from his time on the bench. With the Nuggets trailing by only one point with 20 seconds remaining, Curry attempted to fire up the empty Chase Center crowd with Denver’s Bol Bol at the free-throw line. Curry’s antics were worth it, as Bol missed the free-throw with a chance to tie the game.

Behind Curry’s support on the bench, the Warriors were able to hold on for the preseason victory over the Nuggets, 107-105.

Nuggets vs. Warriors Preseason: Livestream, how to watch, TV channel, start time, projected lineups, rookie watch

After nine months away from the court, the Warriors open the 2020-21 NBA preseason with a game against the Nuggets at Chase Center.

For the first time in nine months, the Golde State Warriors will lace up their shoes for a basketball game.

With the league’s worst record in the NBA at 15-50, the Warriors were one of the seven teams not included in the league’s Orlando Bubble restart. While other teams closed the season at Disney World, the Warriors kicked off an extended offseason.

After a long offseason, the Warriors will host the Denver Nuggets at San Francisco’s Chase Center to open the 2020-21 preseason.

Along with the return of a healthy edition of Steph Curry, the start of the preseason will see the 2020 Golden State debut of newcomers Kelly Oubre Jr., Brad Wanamaker, Kent Bazemore and rookie Nico Mannion.

However, No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman will be sidelined for Golden State’s preseason tilt against the Nuggets. Wiseman and Draymond Green haven’t joined group practice sessions at training camp due to reported positive COVID-19 tests.

Before tipoff at Chase Center on Saturday, here is how to watch and everything else you need to know about the Warriors’ highly-anticipated preseason game against the Nuggets.

Photos: Warriors report back to Chase Center for start of preseason training camp

Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr. and other Warriors are back on the floor at Chase Center for the start of training camp.

Although two positive COVID-19 tests put a delay on the start of practice, players are beginning to report for the Golden State Warriors preseason training camp.

After over eight months away from game-action, Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney are making their return to the Bay Area for the start of camp. Along with Golden State’s veterans, new arrivals like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kent Bazemore are lacing up for their first workouts in San Francisco’s Chase Center.

While preseason training camps in the past have served as a refresher course for veteran teams coming off a deep playoff run for Golden State, 2020 will be different. Along with many players coming off an extended layoff between games, camp will welcome the arrival of several new faces.

Leading up to the start of the season on Dec. 22 against the Brooklyn Nets, Curry and Draymond Green will need to build chemistry with a new looking rotation that features Oubre Jr., Wiggins, Eric Paschall and No. 2 overall selection from the 2020 draft James Wiseman.

Before group practices start on Monday, players could hit the Chase Center practice facility for individual workouts. Below are photos and videos from social media of players who have already reported to camp for individual workouts.

The Warriors will host the Denver Nuggets for their first preseason game on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m. PST.

Warriors 2020 preseason schedule set to begin on Dec. 12 vs. Nuggets at Chase Center

The Warriors will have the chance to return to Chase Center for game-action when the preseason begins on Dec. 12 against the Nuggets.

For the teams involved in the NBA’s restart inside the Orlando Bubble, the 2020 offseason has been a whirlwind. However, the Golden State Warriors have been away from the court for eight months.

After an extended layoff, the Warriors will make their long-awaited return to Chase Center in San Francisco for the start of the 2020 preseason. On Friday, the NBA announced the Golden State Warriors preseason slate would begin on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Chase Center against the Denver Nuggets.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

Following Golden State’s first preseason contest against the Nuggets, the Warriors will play a pair of road games against the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 15 and Dec. 17.

In the past, the preseason has served as a small tune-up for a team coming off a trip to the NBA Finals. Yet, Golden State’s stretch of three preseason games will provide an opportunity for a first look at Steve Kerr’s restructured rotation in the Bay Area.

Along with a healthy Stephen Curry, the preseason will feature the Golden State debuts of No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman and offseason addition Kelly Oubre Jr.

With limited group practice time available over the offseason, Curry, Wiseman, Oubre Jr, Andrew Wiggins and 31l have the chance to build chemistry in live-game action before the Warriors attempt to climb back into playoff contention in the Western Conference.
