2024 receiver Isiah Canion de-commits from Notre Dame

This is unfortunate.

Much has been made about the receivers in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class. [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] and [autotag]Micah Gilbert[/autotag] both figure to be important pieces in the Irish’s offense starting next year. However, they will have to move forward without fellow 2024 receiver Isiah Canion. Two months after picking Notre Dame, Canion has announced his de-commitment from the program:

Canion was the second 2024 receiver to commit to the Irish after Williams, who did so several months earlier. He was a four-star recruit on 247Sports at the time of his commitment, but he has since been dropped to three-star status. In a similar vein, Williams briefly rose to five-star status before being reverted to four stars. Gilbert also has four stars to his name.

According to Canion’s 247Sports profile, Georgia Tech appears to be the leading candidate to land him. That’s not a surprise considering Canion is from Warner Robins, Georgia. The Irish and Yellow Jackets are scheduled to face each other twice during Canion’s college career, so that definitely would add some intrigue if he does decide to head to Atlanta.

Georgia football offers 4-star DL Isaiah Gibson

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to 2025 Warner Robins standout DL Isaiah Gibson

The Georgia Bulldogs are one of the latest college football programs to extend a scholarship offer to class of 2025 defensive lineman Isaiah Gibson. Gibson plays high school football for Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Isaiah Gibson is ranked as a four-star recruit. He is the No. 250 recruit in the nation, per 247Sports. Gibson is the No. 26 defensive lineman and the No. 27 recruit in Georgia.

Georgia recently gained a commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle from defensive back Tae Harris. Georgia has the nation’s top ranked recruiting class for both the 2024 and 2025 cycles. The Dawgs have commitments from six players in the 2025 recruiting class.

Isaiah Gibson has gone on recent college visits to Florida State and South Carolina. The talented defensive end has scholarship offers from LSU, Charlotte, Mississippi State, and more top college football programs.

The Warner Robins star is a good student with a 3.5 GPA, per his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman announced his scholarship offer from the University of Georgia via social media:

Notre Dame lands 2024 four-star receiver Isiah Canion

The 2024 corps is starting to take shape.

Finally, [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] has some receiver company in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class. The Irish had taken an interest in [autotag]Isiah Canion[/autotag], who hails from Warner Robins, Georgia, and they officially extended him an offer in March. Since then, eight other schools have offered Canion, but 247Sports’ experts all had him picking the Irish earlier this week. Finally, the our-star recruit made it official:

So kudos to [autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] and [autotag]Chansi Stuckey[/autotag] for landing who now has to be the most athletic recruit in the Irish’s recruiting class. Canion also excels as a baseball player, and it will be very interesting to see if he joins the ranks of Notre Dame student-athletes who play more than one sport.

For now, the Irish can rest easy in knowing they’ve gotten Williams some help for when he arrives in South Bend. Additional help might come in the form of recruit Micah Gilbert in a few days. Oh, and Williams didn’t miss a beat in reacting to this news:

Jake Fromm scored second highest on Wonderlic test among QB prospects

Georgia football’s Jake Fromm scored a 35 on the Wonderlic test, second highest among 2020 NFL Draft quarterback prospects.

Each year, NFL draft prospects are given a written test that is designed to measure a player’s cognitive ability and problem-solving aptitude.

Called the Wonderlic, it is effectively the NFL’s version of the SAT.

With the NFL Draft quickly approaching (April 23-25), players’ Wonderlic results are beginning to trickle out.

Georgia’s Jake Fromm scored a 34, which is good for second highest among the released quarterback scores. Iowa signal caller Nate Stanley recorded the highest score, earning a 40 on the test.

Fromm is widely considered one of the most intelligent quarterbacks in this year’s draft; his score on the Wonderlic can only improve his stock.

Heisman winner Joe Burrow scored a 34.

Former Bulldog Jacob Eason had the fourth lowest score with an 18.

Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts scored an 18, the second lowest among quarterbacks. Hurts’ former Alabama teammate Tua Tagovailoa scored a 13, which is the lowest.
