Remembering the time Chadwick Boseman played an Ohio State player in ‘Draft Day.’ R.I.P.

Actor Chadwick Boseman has left us too soon. He’s remembered most for his role as Black Panther, but also played an Ohio State linebacker.

The world lost a pretty remarkable actor and global phenomenon this weekend when news broke that Chadwick Boseman passed away of colon cancer. We don’t have to tell most reading this but he played some iconic characters like Jackie Robinson in “42,” James Brown in “Get On Up,” Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall,” and of course, the role of his life and a hero to many as King t’challa in Marvel’s “Black Panther.”

One role that many may not remember though is when he played an Ohio State linebacker preparing for the NFL draft in the movie “Draft Day.” In that film, in which Kevin Costner plays the GM of the Cleveland Browns, Boseman is showcased as OSU linebacker Vontae Mack who is preparing for the draft.

Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised, but the fictional character Mack was made the No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns over the splashier quarterback because of his character and heart.

That sounds just like the man that played him and so many iconic figures. Wakanda Forever. Rest in peace Chadwick.
