Golden Knights at Kings projected goalies

Logan Thompson (10-5-3, 2.68 GAA, .914 SV% in 2021-2022) vs. Jonathan Quick (23-13-9, 2.59 GAA, .910 SV% in 2021-2022)

Thompson faced the Kings once last season, going 1-0-0 while allowing 1 goal on 39 shots, good for a 1.00 GAA and .974 SV%.

Quick faced the Golden Knights twice last season, going 1-1-0 while allowing 8 goals on 39 shots, good for a 5.64 GAA and .795 SV%.

Golden Knights at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Kings 3

Moneyline

VEGAS (-105) is good value for a talented team with a new coach that has a lot to prove after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. Fiala is a big addition for the Kings this season but has also helped them become overvalued in this spot.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

Golden Knights +1.5 (-270) is too expensive to bet in this spot. Look to the ML or the total for better opportunities.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+105) is worth a bet as Quick struggled last season vs. Vegas and the Kings are unveiling what should be a much-improved offense.

The Over is 7-0 in the last 7 head-to-head meetings and should cash for the 8th consecutive time Tuesday.

Washington Capitals at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Washington Capitals at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Capitals (43-23-10) visit Sin City to battle the Vegas Golden Knights (41-31-5) Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is slated for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Capitals vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Capitals are flying high after their biggest win of the season, a 3-2 thriller over the Colorado Avalanche Monday. LW Alex Ovechkin scored his 48th goal of the season in taking down the NHL’s top team. The Caps are one point behind Pittsburgh to get out of a wild-card spot and into the third spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Vegas, on the other hand, suffered a bad 3-2 loss at home against the New Jersey Devils Monday. VGK trails Dallas by four points for the final playoff spot in the West with five games to go. The Golden Knights have now lost four of six, curtailing a good run to get back in the hunt.

Capitals at Golden Knights odds and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:08 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Capitals +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Golden Knights -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Capitals +1.5 (-220) | Golden Knights -1.5 (+165)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -107 | U: -115)

Capitals at Golden Knights projected goalies

Ilya Samsonov (23-10-4, 2.97 GAA, .898 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (23-17-2, 2.83 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO)

Samsonov is 4-1 with a 3.13 GAA and a .889 SV% in April. He stopped 24 of 26 shots in the 3-2 win at Colorado Monday. He has 112 saves against 126 shots in his five games this month. He has not faced the Golden Knights this season.

Lehner had two 5-goal outings against Vancouver recently (April 6 and 12), and he was the loser in Monday’s 3-2 clunker with the Knights being -322 favorites. Lehner is 2-2-1 with a 3.21 GAA and an .889 SV% this month. He stopped all 34 shots in the 1-0 shutout of Washington in January.

[tipico]

Capitals at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Capitals 4

Money line

It’s actually really surprising to see VGK favored so heavily after Washington stole the show in Colorado Monday. But the sportsbooks know that Vegas needs this game or its season could be over.

Dallas will drop the puck in Edmonton 90 minutes before this game, and the Stars could take that one. Look for Vegas to look to match Dallas or take advantage. There could also be some hangover effect after such a big win for Washington.

Take GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-145), but do so lightly. Ideally, this number comes down before puck drop as the public should hammer Washington’s shiny +120.

Against the spread

There’s a chance Vegas comes out and puts a hurtin’ on the Caps here, but I’m really not confident enough in it, despite the attractive +165. PASS.

Over/Under

I would throw down on the OVER 6.5 (-107) fairly quickly unless you plan to wait until after puck drop. Someone dropped $20k on the Over earlier today, according to Pregame.com.

So the juice is likely headed toward the Over. Speaking of Over, it’s 6-1 in Vegas’ last seven at home. 4-1 in the last five as a home favorite and 6-2 against teams with a winning record.

The Over is 9-1 in the Caps’ last 10 road games, 8-1-1 in their last 10 games as underdogs and 6-1 in their last 7 games as road dogs.

I know the last two have hit Under, including a 1-0 affair earlier this season, but there are a whole lot of trends and struggling goalies pointing to the Over.

New Jersey Devils at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s New Jersey Devils at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Devils (26-42-7) head to Sin City to meet the Vegas Golden Knights (41-30-5) Monday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Devils vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Devils have dropped 2 in a row after their 4-3 shootout loss to the expansion Seattle Kraken Saturday. They have now lost 5 of 7 and are struggling without their phenom C Jack Hughes, who was lost for the season with a knee injury April 3.

Vegas was punked 4-0 by the Edmonton Oilers Saturday. They have traded wins and losses over the last 6 games. So that’s good news for this one.

Devils at Golden Knights odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:02 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Devils +260 (bet $100 to win $260) | Golden Knights -340 (bet $340 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Devils +1.5 (+110) | Golden Knights -1.5 (-135)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Devils at Golden Knights projected goalies

Nico Daws (10-11-1, 3.11 GAA, .893 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (23-16-2, 2.82 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO)

Daws has been better in April with a 2-2-1 record, 2.64 GAA and .891 SV%. He has held teams to 3 or fewer goals in 5 straight starts. He hasn’t faced Vegas this season.

Lehner is questionable after he left the team’s road trip to tend to a family emergency. Back home now, one would think he’d be ready — or they can turn to Logan Thompson again. Lehner is 2-1-1 with a 3.23 GAA and 888 SV% this month.

[tipico]

Devils at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Devils 3

Money line

Vegas beat the Devils 5-3 in a December matchup, and have won the last 4 meetings. There’s no way we’re risking more than 3 times our return here, though. PASS.

Against the spread

It’s always a risk going on the puck line because a team can take its foot off the gas late and only win by a goal or possess the puck too well to get an empty-net chance. Vegas has handily won the last 2 meetings, and there’s no reason to believe they won’t do it again with Jersey out of it and banged up. LEAN GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (-135).

Over/Under

The Over is 6-0 in Vegas’ last 6 home games; 4-0 in the last 4 in which Vegas was favored; and 4-0 in Jersey’s last 4 games against the Pacific Division. The Over has hit in 2 of the last 3 between these teams. I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in this play after Vegas was just shut out, but the trends LEAN OVER 6.5 (-110). Personally, I’d wait until after puck drop and try to get the Over to come down to 5.5 a few minutes in.

Vegas Golden Knights at Calgary Flames odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Calgary Flames odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (40-29-5) travel to meet the Calgary Flames (45-19-9) at Scotiabank Saddledome Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Flames odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights have posted a 6-1-1 record across the past eight outings, but Vegas remains on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture, so it needs to keep winning.

The Flames have managed 99 points, sitting second in the Western Conference, but well behind the Colorado Avalanche. Calgary has won 18 of its past 25 games at home.

Golden Knights at Flames odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights +133 (bet $100 to win $133) | Flames -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights +1.5 (-200) | Flames -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +105 | U: -130)

Golden Knights at Flames projected goalies

Robin Lehner (23-16-2, 2.82 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Jacob Markstrom (34-14-8, 2.19 GAA, .924 SV%, 9 SO)

Lehner allowed five goals on 27 shots last time out Tuesday in Vancouver, a 5-4 overtime loss. In four games since returning from nearly a month-long absence, Lehner is 2-1-1 with a 3.23 GAA and .888 SV%.

Markstrom allowed three goals on 15 shots last time out against the Seattle Kraken, getting pulled after two periods. He is still 3-1-0 with a 2.59 GAA and .902 SV% in five starts in April.

[tipico]

Golden Knights at Flames odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Flames 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The FLAMES (-165) are moderate favorites over the Golden Knights (+133), a team that desperately needs a win to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Calgary has picked up 18 wins in the past 25 home dates, while going 16-7 in the past 23 as a home favorite. The Golden Knights have won just three of the previous 11 on the road, while going 0-5 in the past five as a road ‘dog.

Against the spread

The FLAMES -1.5 (+150) are worth playing on the puck line, as the Golden Knights dropped the past two as an underdog by a combined score of 7-0. They’re also 1-5 against the puck line in the past six as an underdog.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-130) is the lean in this Pacific Division battle.

The Under is 5-2-1 in the past eight as a road underdog for the Knights, while going 3-1-1 in the past five for the Flames. The Under is also 5-2 in the past seven against teams with a winning overall record.

The Vegas Golden Knights (40-29-4) travel to meet the Vancouver Canucks (35-28-10) at Rogers Arena Tuesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights posted a 6-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes, and they have won 6 of the past 7 outings. The only setback was at home against Vancouver on Friday night. VGK is 2 points out of a playoff spot.

Golden Knights at Canucks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -135 (bet $135 to win $100) | Canucks +110 (bet $100 to win $110)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights -1.5 (+180) | Canucks +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -135 | U: +110)

Golden Knights at Canucks projected goalies

Robin Lehner (23-16-1, 2.76 GAA, .909 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (30-20-6, 2.64 GAA, .917 SV%, 1 SO)

Lehner turned aside 29 of the 30 shots he faced against the Coyotes Saturday. He is now 2-1-0 with 8 goals allowed in 3 games since returning from a lower-body injury.

Demko has managed a 2-0-1 record with a 1.98 GAA and .941 SV% in 3 starts in the month of April. Two of the starts were against Vegas, allowing 4 goals on 64 shots while going 1-0-1.

[tipico]

Golden Knights at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Canucks 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-135) are moderate favorites against the Canucks (+110), a team that has not given VGK much trouble. Vegas is 14-6 in the past 20 meetings overall, while going 7-2 in the past 9 trips to the Pacific Northwest. VGK is playing with a lot of desperation with a playoff spot on the line, and they’re the play.

Against the spread

The Canucks +1.5 (-250) are quite expensive, costing you two-and-a-half times your potential return at home. That’s way too expensive.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-135) is the best play on the board in this one.

The Over is 10-4 in the past 14 games for the Golden Knights, while going 6-2 in the past 8 games as a favorite. The Over is also 23-10 in the past 33 against teams with a losing record, too.

The Over is 6-1-1 in the past 8 games inside the Pacific Division for the Canucks, while going 2-1 in the first 3 meetings between these teams this season.

Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (38-28-4) wrap up a 3-game road trip when they face the Vancouver Canucks (32-28-9) Sunday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Vegas has rebounded from a rough patch to win 4 in a row. Albeit, only 1 was against a team over .500. VGK lit the lamp 19 times in those 4 games. The Golden Knights sit 1 point behind the Dallas Stars for the final wild-card spot in the West.

Vancouver dropped both ends of a home-and-home against the St. Louis Blues Monday and Wednesday. The Canucks are just 3-5-2 in their last 10. They’re now 8 points behind Dallas for that final spot with 13 games to go. This home-and-home series with Vegas will likely hold the Canucks’ playoff hopes in the balance.

Golden Knights at Canucks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:26 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -103 (bet $103 to win $100) | Canucks -117 (bet $117 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights -1.5 (+185) | Canucks +1.5 (-260)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -130 | U: +105)

Golden Knights at Canucks projected goalies

Logan Thompson (7-4-0, 2.55 GAA, .921 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (28-20-5, 2.68 GAA, .916 SV%, 1 SO)

VGK starting tendy Robin Lehner has been cleared to play and activated from IR. He could possibly slide into net here, but the team wants to ride Thompson through this heated stretch. Thompson was 5-3 with a 2.73 GAA in March and stopped 26 of 28 Seattle Kraken shots in a 5-2 win Friday.

Demko has lost 7 of his last 9 starts, but it really hasn’t been on him. The Boston College product had a decent 3.02 GAA in March. He was peppered with 31.6 shots on goal per game during the month. Demko was victim to an ugly 7-4 road loss to the Golden Knights in November.

[tipico]

Golden Knights at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Canucks 5, Golden Knights 4

Money line

It’s a little surprising to see Vegas as short dogs here on the road. That just highlights the urgency that Vancouver has on winning this game to stay in the playoff hunt.

Canucks C Bo Horvat left Wednesday’s game with a non-COVID illness, and he’s questionable to suit up Sunday.

The Canucks have to win both of these games vs. the Knights to have a shot at the playoffs. The home team has won each of the last three in this series.

Vancouver defends home ice today. Take the CANUCKS (-117).

Against the spread

There’s no value on the puck line, even though Vancouver is 40-29 ATS for the season.

The only scenario I would take a chance is on the alternate spread of Canucks -1.5 (+210). Vancouver has just 3 wins in the last 10, but all of them have been by more than one goal.

I just can’t recommend taking an aggressive puck line on a team with such recent futility. Caveat emptor – or PASS. Your choice.

Over/Under

The Over is 7-1 for Vegas in the last 8 instances with a day of rest. Similarly, it’s 4-0 in Vancouver’s last 4 instances of 3 days’ rest or more.

This will have to be a fast-paced shootout for Vancouver to keep the Golden Knights’ offensive inferno contained. LEAN OVER 5.5 (-130).

Nashville Predators at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Nashville Predators at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (37-23-4) visit Sin City to face the Vegas Golden Knights (34-28-4) Thursday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Predators vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Preds have been clicking during the stretch run as they are winners of seven of their last 10. They have a sour taste in their mouth, though, as they fell at the Los Angeles Kings 6-1 Tuesday.

Blood thirsty, the Preds catch the Golden Knights at the right time as Vegas has won just two of its last nine contests. Vegas returns home after some sleepy performances in back-to-back shutout defeats. VGK lost 4-0 at Winnipeg Tuesday and 3-0 to Minnesota Monday.

Predators at Golden Knights odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:03 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Predators -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Golden Knights -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Predators -1.5 (+205) | Golden Knights +1.5 (-300)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -140 | U: +112)

Predators at Golden Knights projected goalies

Juuse Saros (31-19-3, 2.48 GAA, .922 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Logan Thompson (3-4-0, 3.00 GAA, .910 SV%)

The All-Star Saros has been solid in March with a 6-3-0 record, a 2.58 GAA and a .915 SV%. He is 1-1 with a 3.01 GAA and a .922 SV% against the Golden Knights this season. Nashville won 3-2 in Vegas Jan. 4 as Saros stopped 41 of 43 shots.

Thompson continues to get the nod in net as Robin Lehner and Laurent Brossoit ae out with injuries. Thompson, who will be making a fifth consecutive start, is 2-2 in his last four games and 2-3 with a 3.34 GAA and .901 SV% in March. He was on the losing end of that 3-2 setback to the Preds in early January, allowing 23 goals on 26 shots.

[tipico]

Predators at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The road team is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams, and the Preds boast the ninth-best offense in the league with 3.3 goals per game. Going against a backup goalie, and with a solid 18-12-2-2 record on the road this season, BACK THE PREDATORS (-110).

Against the spread

The Preds are one of the better teams against the puck line with a 37-27 record and a 22-12 mark on the road. Six of their last seven wins have been by 2 or more goals. Nashville has also played a sharper tune the last 10 with an astounding 4.5 goals per game during the stretch.

Take the value with the PREDATORS -1.5 (+205).

Over/Under

As previously mentioned, the Preds are scoring a ton of goals. However, they were cooled by the Kings 6-1 Tuesday, and Vegas hasn’t scored a goal in its last two games.

We’re projecting 6 goals in this game, but the Over 5.5 (-140) has too much juice drowning the payout.

We’ll PASS, but if you can jump on an Over 4.5 after the puck drops, that’s the desired route to the bank.

Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (38-10-4) battle the Vegas Golden Knights (29-19-4) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche doubled up the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 in Denver Friday, nearly taking care of the Over on their own. Colorado has won four of their previous five outings, including a 2-0 win in Las Vegas Feb. 16.

The Golden Knights were on the short end of a 3-1 loss at the Arizona Coyotes Friday, and they’re just 1-4 across their last five outings as G Laurent Brossoit has struggled in between the pipes since G Robin Lehner went down with an upper-body injury after his Feb. 9 apperance.

Avalanche at Golden Knights odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Golden Knights +122 (bet $100 to win $122)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+160) | Golden Knights +1.5 (-210)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -102 | U: -122)

Avalanche at Golden Knights projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (25-6-2, 2.47 GAA, .919 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Logan Thompson (1-1-0, 2.07 GAA, .935 SV%)

Kuemper saw his four-start win streak snapped in Boston last time out on Monday when he allowed 5 goals on 45 shots. He just faced Vegas Feb.16 and turned aside all 29 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season.

Thompson may get his chance at a third start after Brossoit was in between the pipes Friday in the front end of the back-to-back. Thompson was sharp in San Jose last time out Sunday where he allowed just 1 goal on 36 shots for his first NHL victory.

Avalanche at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The AVALANCHE (-150) are a good value on the road, especially since they’ll be up against the third-string goalie for the Golden Knights. Colorado’s offense has posted 11 goals across the past two games and has averaged 3.8 goals per game across the past four.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+160) is worth a roll of the dice on the puck line, as each of their last five victories have been by 2 or more goals, including a 2-0 win in Las Vegas last week. Look for Colorado to take down Vegas yet again at T-Mobile Arena. VGK isn’t the same team without its true No. 1 backstop in the blue ice.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-122) is a little bit of a risky play, so tread lightly.

The Avalanche could potentially pile up plenty of offense against Thompson, but it’s unlikely the Golden Knights will be able to dent Kuemper’s twine very much. He has been on fire lately, save for his most recent showing in Beantown.

Vegas Golden Knights at Tampa Bay Lightning odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (25-16-3) travel to meet the Tampa Bay Lightning (29-10-5) Saturday at Amalie Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Lightning odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights have dropped back-to-back games after opening a four-game road trip with a 1-0 win in Washington. Vegas fell 4-1 last time out at the Florida Panthers Thursday as the Under cashed.

The Lightning won the first meeting of these team in Vegas Dec. 21, the final game in the NHL before the COVID pause and holiday break. The two-time defending champs have picked up victories in six of their last seven outings.

Golden Knights at Lightning odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Lightning -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights +1.5 (-200) | Lightning -1.5 (+150)

Golden Knights at Lightning projected goalies

Robin Lehner (17-12-1, 2.82 GAA, .908 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (24-7-3, 2.25 GAA, .922 SV%, 2 SO)

Lehner has posted a rather mediocre 3-3-1 record in seven January starts, but he has a 2.13 GAA and .919 SV%. A lack of offensive support has kept him out of the win column, as Vegas has posted just 13 goals of support in his last six starts.

Vasilevskiy has picked up victories in five of his past six starts, and offensive support hasn’t been a problem for him. The Lightning are averaging 4.0 goals per game across his last nine starts.

Golden Knights at Lightning odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 3, Golden Knights 1

Money line

The LIGHTNING (-145) are a solid play behind Vasilevskiy at home. Tampa Bay has been lighting the lamp at a feverish pace recently for their goaltender, while Vegas has really struggled to light the lamp lately.

Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+150) is worth a small-unit play. Tampa Bay has won by 2 or more goals in seven of its last eight victories.

Tampa Bay has cashed in eight of its last nine against Western Conference opponents, while going 39-13 in its previous 52 against Pacific Division teams.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-145) is the best play on the board, as Vegas has struggled to light the lamp, and Vasilevskiy certainly isn’t going to make it easy for it to snap out of that funk. Lehner has also been playing great in between the pipes, so look for Tampa to have some trouble tickling the twine, too.

New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Rangers (22-8-4) travel to meet the Vegas Golden Knights (22-13-1) Thursday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Rangers vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Rangers powered past the Edmonton Oilers last time out at Madison Square Garden, posting a 4-1 win as short ‘dogs. That’s three straight wins, outscoring the opposition by a 12-4 margin.

The Golden Knights were tripped up at home by the Nashville Predators 3-2, as prospect Logan Thompson made the start with Robin Lehner nursing a lower-body injury, and Laurent Brossoit dealing with an upper-body issue.

Rangers at Golden Knights projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (15-4-2, 2.09 GAA, .936 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (14-9-0, 3.03 GAA, .905 SV%)

Shesterkin turned aside all 38 shots he faced against the defending-champion Tampa Bay Lightning last time out Sunday for his second shutout of the season. He has now won eight of the past nine outings.

Lehner hasn’t worked since Dec. 19 as he has been dealing with a minor lower-body injury. Before his injury, he has won four consecutive outings. He is 7-5-0 with a 3.15 GAA and .902 SV% at home this season.

Rangers at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 3, Golden Knights 2

Money line

The RANGERS (+130) are a solid value on the road, as the Blueshirts are playing well, especially with Shesterkin in the crease. The 26-year-old has been better at home, but he is a respectable 8-3-0 with a 2.34 GAA and .928 SV% on the road, too. Lehner might not quite be 100 percent, and the VGK offense will have difficulty trying to solve the Russian backstop.

Against the spread

The RANGERS +1.5 (-190) isn’t too overpriced if you’re not quite feeling the Original Six club straight up, and you would like a little bit of insurance. The better value is playing them straight up, but three of their past four losses have been by one goal, so this isn’t terribly out of line.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (+115) is a solid play at plus-money, as Shesterkin isn’t allowed much, and the Rangers are averaging 2.8 goals per game in the previous five on the road. This won’t be a defensive slog, but we shouldn’t have fire wagon hockey here, either.
