Duke Blue Devils jump 30 spots in the first US LBM Coaches Poll of the season

The first edition of the US LBM Coaches Poll was released after Week 1’s action. Clemson and Duke were the big movers after their clash.

Week 0 and Week 1 are firmly in the record books. As we look to Week 2, the US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday due to games being played through Monday night.

The top four teams remained in their spot from the preseason poll. The major change at the top involved the Florida State Seminoles who jumped three spots to No. 5, where the LSU Tigers were before Sunday night’s loss. The Washington Huskies, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Longhorns, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Utah Utes, and Oregon Ducks all jumped ahead of the Tigers with their victories.

LSU wasn’t the biggest loser this week as the Clemson Tigers fell 12 spots to No. 21 after their loss to the Duke Blue Devils on Monday night. On the flip side, Duke jumped 30 spots to the No. 24 spot after their 28-7 victory over Clemson.

Texas A&M ranks No. 23 in the latest 2023 US LBM Coaches Poll update

After their 52-10 victory over New Mexico, Texas A&M moved up two spots to No. 23 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll following Week 1.

The dust has officially settled on Week 1 of the 2023 college football season, which means it’s time to see how what the coaches observed following the first slate of action.

The US LBM Coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of 63 head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on, down to one point for 25th.

The top four remain unchanged after Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, and Ohio State all took care of business in their season openers. Fresh off a 45-24 blowout victory over LSU, Florida State catapulted to No. 5 in the coaches poll. The Tigers, meanwhile, dropped to No. 14.

After Texas A&M took care of business in a 52-10 romp over New Mexico, they jumped up two spots to No. 23 in the latest coaches poll. Next on their slate is a matchup with Miami on Saturday, with the Hurricanes receiving 22 votes in the poll as of Sep. 5.

Florida receives zero votes in US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 1

Florida’s Week 1 loss to Utah didn’t get the Coaches Poll voters too excited. Maybe the Gators can get some votes back with a strong showing against McNeese this week?

A 24-11 loss to Utah on Thursday lost Florida whatever support it had among US LBM Coaches Poll voters heading into the season.

The Gators weren’t ranked in the Coaches Poll to start the year, but they earned enough votes (63) to land just outside the top 25 at an unofficial 28th overall in the county. Those votes are no more, though, and the Gators are now behind teams such as James Madison, Texas-San Antonio and UCF.

With McNeese State up next on the schedule, Florida won’t have a great chance to earn any of those votes, but the SEC opener against No. 9 Tennessee in Gainesville will be a solid opportunity to show improvement.

As far as the rest of the SEC goes: Georgia is still No. 1, Alabama stayed at No. 3, LSU fell from No. 5 to 14, Ole Miss is at No. 20, and Texas A&M rounds out the ranked programs in the conference at No. 23. Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky and South Carolina earned votes as well.

US LBM Coaches Poll update after Week 1 sees Clemson fall outside the top 20

Clemson drops outside the top 20 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

College football is now past Week 1 with Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program struggling in their 28-7 season opening loss to the Duke Blue Devils.

With the loss, the Tigers fell 12 spots to No.21 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll. The Blue Devils took a massive leap from unranked to the No.24 team in the country.

There are now four ACC teams in the top 25, with Florida State jumping three spots to No.5, UNC up four spots to No.16 and Duke jumping a full thirty spots. Clemson avoids falling out of the top 25 and remains ranked higher than Duke after a big loss.

Arkansas still unranked, but picks up votes in US LBM Coaches Poll

Beating Western Carolina wasn’t – to no surprise – enough to vault Arkansas into the Top 25.

The first post-gameday US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday with little shake-up after a largely underwhelming weekend.

Arkansas remained outside the Top 25, though picking up a few more points worth of votes. The Razorbacks were a de facto No. 34, one spot behind SEC rival Auburn and two spots ahead of Battle Line Rivalry foe Missouri.

Georgia remained at the top of the poll as the entire top four was unchanged. Following Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State was a new No. 5. Florida State jumped three spots after dismantling LSU over the weekend. The Tigers fell nine spots to No. 14.

Tennessee, Ole Miss and Texas A&M were the other three ranked SEC teams. The Volunteers were ninth, the Rebels 20th and the Aggies 23rd. Kentucky picked up the most points outside the official rankings, checking in at a practical No. 28.

Arkansas is set to host Kent State on Saturday for the Hogs’ official home opener in Fayetteville.

Notre Dame football moves up in latest US LBM Coaches Poll

The Irish move up, but how high?

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] over the first two games of their season looks like one of the most complete teams in the nation and it reflected that in the most recent US LBM Coaches Poll, but the question is how much?

Their defense has yet to allow a touchdown and when the first team offense has been on the field, they virtually score a touchdown every drive. It’s a great combination to have and it’s impressed the coaches enough to move up the rankings.

Yes, an LSU (you can laugh here) and Clemson loss helps the cause, but the Irish have played better than most teams early this fall. Find out below where Notre Dame landed on the newest coaches poll.

A top-10 shakeup in latest US LBM Coaches Poll doesn’t move Alabama

Alabama’s 56-7 win over Middle Tennessee was enough to keep the Tide ranked No. 3!

Alabama football’s 56-7 win over Middle Tennessee in Week 1 was dominant and many worries regarding the team were alleviated. However, it was not enough to move Alabama up in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Georgia remains the No. 1 team in the nation after a win against Tennessee-Martin and Michigan stays sandwiched in between the Dawgs and the Tide after beating Eastern Carolina.

Alabama will have a true test next week as the Tide host the No. 10 Texas Longhorns for the second installment of the home-and-home series that began in 2022 with a one-point Alabama win.
