Best golf socks in 2023

Often overlooked, a pair of golf socks can really make or break a round.

A great round of golf can only be ruined by a handful of things.

A sudden change in the weather and a bad shot or two are to be expected and oftentimes something out of your control. One thing you can control on the course, however, is the comfort of your feet.

There’s nothing that derails a round like a bad pair of socks. Catching a blister on the back of your heel or having your toe poke through, opening a sweaty river in the sole of your new favorite pair of golf shoes can ruin your day on the course.

Socks are not often thought of as an important piece of equipment, but we’re here to change that. What other sport, besides distance running, are you on your feet for miles and hours at a time? Take care of your feet and you’ll see improvements in your focus, recovery and even in your score.

Heather Dinich: Conference realignment means nothing for Notre Dame

Don’t worry, Irish fans.

To put it mildly, college football is in chaos. The Pac-12 is about to become extinct or is seriously threatened at the very least.

Oregon and Washington will join USC and UCLA in the Big Ten in 2024. Colorado is rejoining the Big 12 in 2024, and we now know Arizona, Arizona State, Utah also are heading there as well.

What does this mean for Notre Dame?

If college football insiders are to be believed, absolutely nothing. As part of a series of questions published on ESPN’s website, Heather Dinich was asked to tackle the evergreen issue of the Irish’s independence and how it applies to the changing college football climate. If you’re worried about the Irish giving into public pressure and joining a conference permanently, Dinich says don’t be:

“Notre Dame athletic director [autotag]Jack Swarbrick[/autotag] has long repeated the same three factors that could contribute to the university’s position as an independent becoming ‘unsustainable.’

Those include: the loss of a committed broadcast partner; the loss of a fair route into the postseason; or such an adverse financial consequence that would force it to reconsider.

In spite of all of the drama swirling around Notre Dame, nothing has impacted those particular factors. Notre Dame still has a strong partnership with NBC as its broadcast partner that runs through the 2025 season. It recently announced a renewed commitment to Under Armour. It also remains a partial member of the ACC in football and has a contract with the league stating that if the Irish were to relinquish their independence, it would be for the ACC.

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said recently at the league’s media days that he knows how much the Irish value their independence. Notre Dame still remains the most valuable property remaining on the Monopoly board – and it’s still not for sale.”

Tom Noie of the South Bend Tribune expressed similar thoughts earlier in the day. So sleep easy, Irish fans. The program is not changing its affiliation or lack thereof anytime soon. Besides, conferences need the Irish more than the Irish need them.

Social media reacts to Notre Dame unveiling green uniforms

What are your thoughts on the unis?

If there’s one thing diehard college football fans love, it’s tradition. That’s why many of them, including our own Nick Shepkowski, is upset that the regular season will be devalued by the expanded College Football Playoff beginning in 2024. Some don’t like it when nicknames or rivalry trophies are changed. Then, there are uniforms.

Reaction to the revelation of Notre Dame’s green uniforms for its Sept. 23 game against Ohio State has been mixed. While some like how spiffy they are, others see it as a reflection of the program’s apparently misplaced priorities, namely that it’s focused more on dressing well than winning games. Others don’t like that this was lumped in with the announcement that the program is extending its relationship with Under Armour.

Whatever you feel about it, chances are those feelings are reflected among these thoughts we found on social media. Take a look at the following and see if that’s the case:

Top five apparel companies that Notre Dame should sign with

Who is at the top of your list?

This coming season might be the last for[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] and [autotag]Under Armour[/autotag], there should be multiple apparel suitors fighting for the Irish’s signature.

As one of the strongest brands in all of college football and collegiate sports, whoever signs the Irish will have a significant jump in their sales. There will be plenty of rumors over the next year as to who Notre Dame will sign with and rightfully so.

Notre Dame is the biggest free agent school to hit the market in a while so it’s going to be very interesting to see who they sign with. These are my top five companies the Irish should sign with.

Notre Dame hitting the market with Under Armour deal set to expire

Who do you want Notre Dame’s next outfitter to be?

It certainly seems that Notre Dame’s days with Under Armour will soon be coming to an end.  According to a report from Ross Dellinger of Sports Illustrated, Notre Dame’s “exclusive negotiating window with current apparel sponsor Under Armour has expired.”

Under Armour has been Notre Dame’s apparel sponsor since 2014 and the deal is set to expire following next season.  With the way things have gone for Under Armour in college athletics recently this is hardly surprising to hear.

In recent years Under Armour has cancelled deals with UCLA, Hawaii, Cincinnati, and Cal while Boston College opted to pair with Adidas and New Balance instead of stay with them.

Under Armour will remain having a seat at the table but at this point it feels like a big of a long shot to think they’ll be outfitting Marcus Freeman and the rest of the Notre Dame athletic department in a few short years.

So the question now turns to if not Under Armour then who?

Adidas was the apparel sponsor with Notre Dame for years before Under Armour dove in and they’re still a major player in the college game.  Notre Dame has never had a relationship with Nike but their brand clearly speaks for themselves as does the potential Jordan brand.

Another to keep an eye on will be New Balance who has tried for quite some time to grow its brand in the college game.

Whatever the case, change is almost certainly coming to Notre Dame locker rooms and the bookstore soon.
