This is why it’s hard to bet on Chris Stapleton’s Super Bowl national anthem performance

Wanted: Any evidence of Chris Stapleton previously signing the anthem

Two of the most popular novelty prop bets during the Super Bowl each year are settled before the game even kicks off: the coin flip and the over/under on the national anthem.

Do these have anything to do with the actual game? Rarely!

But they sure are fun to bet on and get a quick result to start off Super Bowl Sunday. Except betting on the national anthem has become a bit more difficult this February thanks to this year’s performer.

Fresh of his appearance at The Grammy’s, Chris Stapleton has the honor of singing the The Star-Spangled Banner with the over/under set at 125 seconds. The problem is that there’s no footage anywhere online of Stapleton singing the anthem before. Which isn’t to say he’s never done it. Just that no one seems able to find any video proving as much.

Fortunately, there is some recent history and past trends worth looking into before placing your bets, as Bleacher Report dug into.

That may or may not make betting on the anthem any easier, but it’s good context to have before placing your wagers. Or maybe it’s a sign to skip betting on them anthem this year altogether.

Either way, it’ll be exciting to see this one play out.

Updated BetMGM betting odds for Alabama vs. LSU

Alabama will face off against LSU on the road and will be the heavi favorites according to oddsmakers at BetMGM.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against an unranked LSU on the road for another ‘night game in Death Valley.’ However, this year’s contest is not as highly anticipated as they usually are.

Alabama being the top team in the nation, as well as the only undefeated team in the SEC, seems high and above the reigning National Champions, who are 3-4 this season.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM are also predicting a healthy win for Alabama over the Tigers.

Alabama – Kentucky BetMGM betting odds

Alabama football opens up as a heavy favorite of Kentucky for the team’s first contest since Mississippi State.

By the time Alabama plays Kentucky this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 21, it will mark three weeks since the Crimson Tide played football. Having a week off after defeating Mississippi State, then having the LSU contest canceled. However, oddsmakers at BetMGM seem to think they will do just fine against Kentucky.

Place your legal sports bets online in CO, IN, NJ, TN, and WV at BetMGM. Bet now!

Mac Jones and the Alabama offense are projected to have quite the game according to the lines, and the defense should perform as well as they had prior to the extended absence from the field.

Alabama-Mississippi State BetMGM betting odds

Alabama will take on Mississippi State at home for Week 6 of SEC action. BetMGM has their lines open and Alabama is a clear favorite.

Alabama remains to be the only undefeated team in the SEC at 5-0 after defeating the Tennessee Volunteers on the road last Saturday. Now, they’ll look to keep the win streak alive by taking on Mike Leach in his first season coaching the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home in Tuscaloosa.

Mac Jones, Najee Harris and the rest of the Crimson Tide offense is averaging 48.4 points per game, which is the most of any collegiate program in the country with more than one game played on the season.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM have Alabama as the heavy favorite leading into Week 6 of SEC action.

Alabama – Tennessee BetMGM betting odds

Alabama opens up as a 21.5 point favorite against the 2-2 Tennessee Volunteers for the Week 5 matchup in Knoxville, Tennessee.

No. 2 Alabama’s win over No. 3 Georgia did not come without some interesting factors: a pair of interceptions to start the game, a defensive showdown and three potential Heisman winners on the Crimson Tide offense showing out.

With the win, Alabama improves to 4-0, the only undefeated team in the SEC; and Nick Saban improves to 22-0 against former assistant coaches by defeating Kirby Smart.

Saban will now look to add one to both win columns this week as his team will face off against former defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt’s Tennessee Volunteers.

Tennessee is 2-2 on the 2020 season with two, tough consecutive losses to Georgia and Kentucky.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM have put together lines for the Crimson Tide vs. Volunteers Week 5 matchup.

My normal advice would to not bet this weekend. Don’t do it — especially before knowing every teams’ situation since the late games have some large dependencies on the early game results. The problem is that I am two games below .500 and we have to get to at least .500. Last year, it was a 59-59-2 finish. This year the standings currently sit at 55-57-2.

The problem is that isn’t a win. Let’s say we put a unit on every bet — a unit is your standard bet and it can be $5 or $500 — then we’d lose the vig or 10 percent. A $100 wager on every bet would mean down at least $570. That’s not the case since we had some big moneyline underdogs hit and a parlay here and there. We’ll be using units next year.

As usual, the home teams are in CAPS, and we are using Bet MGM for our odds. Games will be listed at -110 unless denoted otherwise.

Let’s get to it.

It’s the end of the year. There are only two weeks left in the regular season. That means two weeks left to bet on random teams that won’t make the playoffs. There’s only a short time to throw a ton of teams into teasers and parlays. Betting on Lamar Jack against Bad Team X — this week it’s the Browns — won’t be possible. Also, time is running out to get above .500 on the season.

As usual, the home teams are in CAPS, and we are using Bet MGM for our odds. Games will be listed at -110 unless denoted otherwise.

Let’s get to it.

6 best bets for Week 15 of the NFL season

There’s always one week at the end of the season when things get turned upside down when it comes to gambling. Hot teams cool off for no apparent reason. Teams that are left for dead try for some reason. Let’s just say that type of week could be the 15th session of the NFL season.

As usual, the home teams are in CAPS, and we are using Bet MGM for our odds.  Games will be listed at -110 unless denoted otherwise.

10 best bets for Week 14 of the NFL season

There are picks for Patriots-Chiefs, Niners-Saints, Rams-Seahawks and Bills-Ravens.

Don’t get confident. We were on fire with a bunch of big weeks followed by a great Thanksgiving and then went 1-5 in Week 13. That’s the opposite of good. So it’s time to go back to basics. Hit some home underdogs. Take some unders. Moneyline an obvious favorite here or there.

Finishing .500 isn’t the goal because that means lost money. There’s a reason that books take a vig. It’s their fee for taking a bet. That’s why finishing .500 is bad. That vig isn’t made up. It’s not a lot of lost money, but it’s 10 percent of a unit lost generally. So we need some winners. Let’s get some winners.

As usual, the home teams are in CAPS, and we are using Bet MGM for our odds.  Games will be listed at -110 unless denoted otherwise.
