SEC dominating the NFL Combine once again

The Georgia Bulldogs alone had more NFL Combine invites than the entire Sun Belt conference.

The SEC is the king conference of NCAA football and in the NFL. No other conference has more players go to the NFL. That’s set to happen once again in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The disparity between the SEC and other conferences is concerning. The SEC has more than triple the amount of NFL Combine participants when compared to the Big 12:

Yes, the SEC has four more teams than the Big 12, it has 64 more NFL combine participants. In fact, the SEC has one less participant than the next two conferences combine (Big Ten and Pac-12).

The SEC has dominated college football the past couple of decades and has no sign of slowing down. The SEC recruits the best of any conference and converts this talent into NFL prospects as good as other conferences.

Georgia’s Andrew Thomas gets NFL comparison to former Tennessee Volunteer

Georgia Bulldogs left tackle Andrew Thomas has been compared to a former Tennessee Volunteer who plays for the Denver Broncos.

Georgia Bulldogs left tackle Andrew Thomas is considered a first round talent in the 2020 NFL Draft. Thomas displayed incredible blocking ability during his time in Athens.

Thomas blocked three players on a memorable run play against the Florida Gators. Thomas started thirteen games at left tackle this season at UGA. he additionally started whenever healthy both his sophomore and freshman seasons. Thomas is as seasoned of a veteran as possible at this point in his career.

Now he’s being compared to Ja’Wuan James, who was originally a first round pick of the Miami Dolphins.

Ja’Wuan James is a former Tennessee Volunteer, who signed a massive four year, $51 million dollar deal last off-season to join the Denver Broncos. James has played primarily as a right tackle in the NFL.

Will Andrew Thomas have to slide over to the right side of the offensive line to succeed in the NFL? Based on his time at UGA, Thomas should be fine on the left side.

That being said, right tackles are as valuable as ever in the NFL. Quarterbacks need protection and right tackles play a huge role in containing elite pass rushers. Look at Ja’Wuan James’s contract with the Broncos. On the left or right side, Andrew Thomas will play from day one in the NFL.
