Georgia finishes another season undefeated after beating Tech

The Georgia Bulldogs have finished consecutive regular seasons undefeated for the first time in school history.

The Georgia Bulldogs have finished consecutive regular seasons undefeated for the first time in school history. Georgia got off to a slow start in the Dawgs’ 37-14 win over Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs held a narrow 10-7 lead at halftime. Georgia turned it around in the second half thanks to a strong rushing attack and a few Georgia Tech miscues.

Tight end Brock Bowers made a clutch catch on forth down in the third quarter to help Georgia open up a large lead. Bowers caught the ball, which was underthrown, inches from the ground.

Georgia outscored Georgia Tech 27-7 in the second half. The Bulldogs settled for a few too many field goals and could have had better execution in the red zone.

Georgia’s passing attack was disappointing in the home victory. The Dawgs passed for only 138 yards against Georgia Tech. Stetson Bennett completed 10 of 18 passes for 135 yards. He threw two touchdown passes. Georgia’s offense finished with 268 rushing yards.

Georgia’s passing game needs to step up in the SEC championship game against LSU.

Defensively, Georgia recovered after allowing an early rushing touchdown to Georgia Tech. The Dawgs sacked the Yellow Jackets four times.

UGA-Georgia Tech series history

The Georgia Bulldogs will host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for the first time since 2018.

The Georgia Bulldogs will host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Athens, Georgia, for the first time since 2018. The 2020 edition of Georgia-Georgia Tech was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Georgia Tech began Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate with a decent record, but the Yellow Jackets have struggled against Georgia recently. Georgia has outscored Georgia Tech 97-7 in the last two meetings between the rivals.

Georgia enters the 2022 edition of the in-state rivalry as the top-ranked team in the country. The Bulldogs are undefeated and likely headed for the College Football Playoff unless Georgia falls to Georgia Tech or LSU.

It was all bad news for the Yellow Jackets, who were able to set a new school record!

Can Georgia football continue their biggest advantage over Tech?

The Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart have been dominating the Georgia Tech in the recruiting. Can Geoff Collins flip the script?

The Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a rivalry that goes deeper than what happens on the football field. The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets battle throughout the year for talented recruits in the state of Georgia. UGA fans know the Dawgs has dominated in-state recruiting since Kirby Smart took over, but is one of their best advantages, a lack of legitimate in-state recruiting competition fading away?

The last time Georgia Tech landed a top twenty-five recruiting class was in 2007! Back in 2007, the Yellow Jackets recruited several NFL players: OLB Derrick Morgan, S Morgan Burnett, and RB Jonathan Dwyer. Georgia Tech struggled mightily in recruiting, largely thanks to the triple option system, which no defender want to practice against and no NFL offense runs.

Now, under first year head coach Geoff Collins, the Yellow Jackets have the 25th best class of 2020. The results on the field haven’t been pretty, but Georgia Tech is poised to improve. Everybody knew switching systems is more than a one year process.

Enter the Georgia Bulldogs, who have been dominating recruiting in the state of Georgia. Kirby Smart has Georgia competing with the elite programs across the country in recruiting and on the field. UGA’s previous recruiting class to be ranked below tenth was all the way back in 2013. Let’s be honest, Georgia’s biggest recruiting competition comes from the SEC. That being said, Georgia Tech isn’t going to be a pushover moving forward.

Georgia’s class of 2020 is ranked fifth in the country. The Bulldogs can send a message to recruits with another big-win over the Yellow Jackets this Saturday. As for now, Georgia Tech seems to be trending in the right direction. Will they be able to improve in their second year under Geoff Collins? Lots of second year coaches struggled to make the leap this past season. He’s not going to make the National Championship game like Kirby Smart did in his second season in Athens.

The Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Georgia Tech for a noon kickoff on Saturday, November 30th. The Dawgs will look to continue bullying the Yellow Jackets in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. The game in Atlanta will be televised on ABC.

Georgia will likely come into the game with their College Football Playoff hopes on the line. The Bulldogs are currently 9-1 and ranked forth in the country. On the other end of the spectrum are the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets are 2-8 and just lost to Virginia Tech 45-0. Georgia Tech is transitioning out of the triple option, which has been a struggle including: a 24-2 loss to Temple and a 27-24 loss to the Citadel. Tech was able to knock off Miami and South Florida, but that won’t exactly strike fear into Kirby Smart, Jake Fromm, and the Bulldogs.

Below are the game times for the rest of the SEC on rivalry week:

It should be another interesting rivalry week this year. Alabama against Auburn has to be the SEC’s best game in rivalry week. Will Texas A&M at LSU go to seven overtimes again?
