Georgia football in top schools for elite DT Jamaal Jarrett

Four-star defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett is the third-ranked player in North Carolina and has narrowed it down to only three schools.

Jamaal Jarrett is the third-ranked player in North Carolina. Jarrett is a big defensive tackle with a similar frame to Georgia Bulldogs legend Jordan Davis. Jordan Davis is also from North Carolina.

Now, Jarrett considers his top three schools to be Georgia, Auburn, and North Carolina. Jarrett’s commitment is scheduled for July 19. He has taken recent visits to all three of his top schools.

Jamaal Jarrett plays high school football for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Can the UNC Tar Heels get Jarrett to stay home or will he leave the state and try to be the next Jordan Davis or Derrick Brown?

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound defensive tackle is ranked as the No. 176 recruit in class of 2023. Jamaal Jarrett is considered the No. 26 defensive lineman in the rising senior class. He has committed to play in the 2023 All-American Bowl.

The Grimsley standout is also a track and field athlete. Jarrett plans to be an early enrollee at the next level.

Jamaal Jarrett is more of run-stuffer than a pass rusher, which is expected of someone at his size. Jarrett shows the ability to shed blocks and deliver big hits on tape. He is simply to big and athletic for most high school offensive linemen to block.

The four-star defensive line recruit named his top three schools via Twitter and set his commitment date:

Key Georgia commits impress in HS track meets

Darris Smith and Julian Humphrey can FLY

The Appling County High School prospect won the state title in the 400 meters.

At Smith’s size, hey may be the fastest athlete in the class. Here’s a look at his best times posted this spring.

Results: 11.12 second 100m, 21.85 second 200m, 49.17 second 400m

Along with Smith, four-star cornerback Julian Humphrey posted a blazing 21.44 second 200 meters for Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas.

Humphrey (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) is rated as the No. 9 cornerback in the nation, the No. 13 player in the state of Texas and the No. 81 recruit overall in the class.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart and staff have traditionally always targeted speed. That’s no different with Smith and Humphrey in next year’s class.

The Bulldogs currently hold the No. 8 class in the nation.

Tennessee’s No. 1 recruit, Caleb Herring, is coming to Athens…

2022 5-star in-state DL Lebbeus Overton announces commitment date, TV coverage

Overton will choose among Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Ohio State.

Five-star class of 2022 defensive end recruit Lebbeus Overton will commit on Friday, April 1 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

The Milton High School prospect (Alpharetta, Ga.) will choose among his top-five schools, including Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Ohio State.

Overton (6-foot-4, 265 pounds) is the top remaining unsigned player in his class. He had been one of the top recruits in the class of 2023, but reclassified. He remains a five-star prospect.

Overton is the No. 18 recruit in the class of 2022. He’s the No. 5 defensive lineman and the third-ranked player in Georgia, according to 247Sports, who also predicts Texas A&M as the star recruit’s landing spot.

If Overton picks the Bulldogs, he would bolster UGA’s 2022 class which  finished with the 3rd ranked class in the country behind Alabama and Texas A&M.

Georgia football among top schools for 2023’s No. 2 player

UGA is in the running for 5-star DL Vic Burley, the No. 2 player in Georgia…

2023 five-star defensive lineman Vic Burley has included Georgia football among his top-12 schools.

Burley will choose among Georgia, Oregon, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Florida State, Tennessee and Oklahoma.

Burley, out of Warner Robins, Ga. (Warner Robins High School) is rated as the No. 2 player in the State of Georgia, the No. 5 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 35 player overall, per 247Sports Composite.

Burley stands at a whopping 6-foot-five, 276 pounds as only a junior. He also adds an 81-inch wingspan to boot.

Burley would be a big addition to the Dawgs defensive front that is looking to replace the impact of Jordan Davis, Devonte Wyatt and Travon Walker.

Georgia currently holds the No. 4 class in the country in 2023, which currently includes seven commits.

Massive 4-star DT recruit visiting Georgia football this weekend

Jamaal Jarrett could be the next Jordan Davis…

Four-star 2023 defensive tackle Jamaal Jarret, who stands 6-foot-five, 330 pounds as a junior, is set to visit Georgia football this weekend.

Jarrett is often compared to star defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who’s is pegged as a first-round NFL draft pick this spring.

Like Davis, Jarret is a North Carolina native (Greensboro). This weekend won’t be Jarret’s first visit to the Classic City. The Grimsley High School prospect visited the Dawgs back in January.

Jarret holds over 25 offers and is rated as the No. 25 tackle and the No. 12 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite.

Coach Kirby Smart and staff historically prioritize the interior of the defensive front. The Bulldogs signed coveted tackle Bear Alexander in last year’s class and will look to reel in Jarret to help replenish the front after the departure of Davis to the NFL, along with teammates Devonte Wyatt and Travon Walker.

Here’s game tape from Jarrett’s junior season:
