Twitter reacts: Georgia football adds another elite DB recruit

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart continue to add talented players to the No. 2 recruiting class in the country

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart continue to add pieces to the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. Georgia football has 22 commitments in the class of 2023.

Georgia’s latest commitment is from four-star defensive back Chris Peal, who plays high school football for Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Bulldogs have done an excellent job recruiting North Carolina in recent years.

Peal committed to the Georgia Bulldogs over Michigan, NC State and South Carolina. Peal is the fifth defensive back in the class of 2023 to commit to Georgia football. Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown has done an excellent job of recruiting elite talent this recruiting cycle.

Chris Peal is a 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back and is the third-ranked recruit in North Carolina. The four-star is the No. 177 recruit in the class of 2023, per 247Sports.

Here’s how Georgia football Twitter reacted as Peal committed to the Bulldogs:

Where does Georgia football’s class of 2023 stand?

The Georgia Bulldogs football program just added a pair of recent class of 2023 commitments.

The Georgia Bulldogs football program just added a pair of class of 2023 commitments. Now, head coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have the No. 7 recruiting class in the country per 247Sports.

Georgia’s class of 2023 is made up of 11 commitments. The Bulldogs picked up a recent commitment from five-star defensive back AJ Harris, who is Georgia’s highest ranked player in the class.

Georgia’s class is composed of six four-star commitments, one five-star, three three-stars and one unranked prospect. Who is UGA’s only unranked recruit? It is the Bulldogs’ most recent commitment, kicker Peyton Woodring. Woodring has a strong leg and will be ranked soon enough: He is considered one of the best kickers in his class.

The Dawgs started a busy week of recruiting when they flipped three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller, a Penn State commit, on June 13.

Kirby Smart and his staff are poised to finish with another elite recruiting class. Georgia’s 11 commitments have the highest average rating of any team ranked among the 10 best recruiting classes in the country.

Georgia is also targeting a slew of elite targets including Arch Manning, Joenel Aguero and Justice Haynes.

What is missing from Georgia’s class of 2023 at the moment? Right now, the Bulldogs don’t have a commitment from an inside linebacker. Co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann should have no problem recruiting after such a successful 2022 NFL draft. In addition to inside linebacker, the Dawgs are also looking to secure a commitment from a running back.

The only position Georgia is set at is tight end. The Dawgs have two four-star tight end commitments, Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin.

UGA football recruiting update: Dawgs lose, gain commitment

The Georgia Bulldogs have gained a commitment from McEachern defensive tackle Seven Cloud. UGA lost a commitment from 4-star Treyaun Webb.

The Georgia Bulldogs have gained a commitment from defensive tackle Seven Cloud, who is unrated and is a member of the class of 2023. Cloud plays high school football for McEachern in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Seven Cloud is currently only a sophomore in high school, so he has a lot of time to develop. The unrated defensive tackle is 6 feet, 3 inches and weighs 325 pounds. He’s received scholarship offers from Tennessee, Georgia, and East Carolina.

Cloud announced his commitment via his Twitter account:

Treyaun Webb verbally committed to the University of Georgia much earlier than most prospects do. Webb is from Jacksonville, Florida and plays football at Trinity Christian Academy. He’s currently a sophomore in high school and committed to UGA during the fall of his freshman year.

Now, Treyaun Webb has decommitted from the University of Georgia. Webb did include the Georgia Bulldogs in his top six, which he announced via his Twitter account:

It was unrealistic to expect Treyaun Webb to stick with his commitment since he made his decision so early. Georgia is still in the top six for the 2023 four-star athlete along with Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Penn State.

Webb only 188 pounds and is six feet tall. He is a four-star prospect and as the No. 32 best player in the country.
