Chelsea sits 3rd on the EPL table. It managed to get to this point in the Champions League by defeating Lyon 4-1 in the first knockout round. It finished second in Group H with a 4-1-1 record, losing the group to Juventus.

Chelsea is expected to be led by M Mason Mount and F Kai Havertz on the attacking half. Having given up only 23 goals in 29 EPL games, its strength is in its defense, although it will be without D Ben Chilwell.

Real Madrid is led by F Karim Benzema, who leads La Liga in scoring. Benzema has 24 goals in 26 matches played this season as Real sits atop La Liga.

Real defeated one of the favorites, PSG, in the first knockout round, losing 1-0 in the first leg and then winning 3-1 in the second with all 3 goals by Benzema.

These two teams are as close as it comes and both have strength on the defensive side. Chelsea has 5 draws in 14 home matches (7 wins and 2 losses).

Also, it should be without F Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to leave the Blues this summer. That’s going to cripple its attack and Chelseas may struggle against the strong Real defense.

As for Real, it lost to PSG on the road 1-0. It did come back and win at home, but it isn’t necessarily in elite form, having lost 4-0 March 20 to Barcelona.

Considering each teams’ form, I expect a close battle that results in a draw.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-150).

Obviously, Chelsea and Real both did well in the group stage as both are still playing.

However, when faced with quality competition, Real is 1-3 O/U, having taken on Inter twice in the group stage and PSG twice in the first round. Chelsea is 4-4 O/U in Champions League action.

Chelsea doesn’t have an overly strong attack without Lukaku, and its defense is among the EPL’s best. It’s a strong price to pay, but it’s certainly the better side here.

Atletico Madrid did what many were not expecting it to do — go into Old Trafford and come out with a 1-nil win. It was even outshot 11-8 and had 2 fewer shots on target. It drew Man U in the first leg 1-1.

Madrid is led in scoring by F Ángel Correa and F Luis Suarez, both of which have 11 on the season. Madrid sits 3rd in La Liga and has a 7-3-5 road record in league play.

As for Man City, it sits No. 1 in the English Premier League and has been on a dominant tear there. It cruised to a win over Sporting in the first round of the knockout stage, winning on aggregate 5-0.

It is led by a superstar-filled midfield that includes M Jack Grealish and M Kevin de Bruyne. City should be at full strength as it enters its first competitive UEFA Champions League knockout round battle.

The value for both teams not to score at -175 and for the home favorite to win at -300 is just not worth it.

There are only so many good bets when it comes to battles involving Man City considering how dominant it is on a team-specific bet just won’t be in the equation here.

Over/Under (O/U)

If there’s anything the quarterfinals taught us, it’s that Madrid’s defense is legit. It is allowing just 1.23 goals per game in La Liga competitive and allowed just 8 goals, scoring 7, in the Champions League group stage game.

At the same time, if it taught us anything about its attack, it’s that they aren’t that good, scoring 2 on Man U and totaling just 4 shots on goal through both games.

As for City, it has the best defense in the EPL, and D Kyle Walker will be back from his suspension. It has allowed 18 goals in 30 EPL games and didn’t allow a single goal in either first-round showing.

Man City’s elite midfield play does typically produce goals, so I expect it to get on the board at least once, having averaged 3 goals per game in the group stage.

However, both defenses are good enough to warrant fewer goals being expected.

Despite playing a tough match Saturday and being down a top midfielder, it’s still the more talented side with the best forward, Romelu Lukaku, in this match. Juventus F Paulo Dybala has impressed, but the club’s defense hasn’t.

Allowing 2 goals to inferior Italian sides in each of its last couple of matches, Chelsea should be able to break through with the skilled Lukaku leading the way.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the OVER 2.5 (+133) as the best value in this game. Losing a stud like Kante, who controlled the pace for Chelsea’s backline, is more concerning than most would imagine.

Having given up just 2 goals through six EPL games, Chelsea will be taking on a ferocious Juventus attack led by Dybala and M Manuel Locatelli. Juventus scored 6 goals in its last two Series A matches and put 3 on Malmo to kick off UCL action.

Chelsea will be down M Mason Mount as well; however, M Kai Havertz has stepped up in a big way for the club lately and F Timo Werner should also get some minutes. Both are capable of producing goals and should help a strong Chelsea attack.

A draw with Southampton and loss to Tottenham in the EPL still hang over City’s season performance.

PSG is arguably the most talented club Man City will face this season. With F Kylian Mbappe and F Neymar on deck, Paris St. Germain is undefeated in Ligue 1 action.

This is a battle of two European powerhouses, and it’s tough to tell the sides apart. With Man City not having a true nine and PSG only with elite attackers, this could easily end in a draw.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+110) as Man City has the best defense in the EPL.

There are about six or seven top-tier teams in the world, and these are two of them. That said, while PSG can average 3 goals per game in league action, Man City has given up just 1 through six games.

I expect an attack as lethal as PSG’s to break through some, but it’d be shocking if it puts up numerous goals on Man City.

With D Kyle Walker and D John Stones anchoring the backline along with an outstanding possession-minded midfield, expect a low-scoring match.

With plus-money odds, I’d put a unit on the Man City defense holding up.
