Patrick Mahomes, Mecole Hardman joke following record contract

Mecole Hardman and Patrick Mahomes were joking on Twitter after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback signed a record breaking deal

Mecole Hardman and Patrick Mahomes were joking on Twitter after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback signed a record breaking deal. Mahomes can earn up to $503 Million over his ten year contract according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He and former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Mecole Hardman should be playing together for years to come.

Hardman averaged over twenty yards per catch en route to a solid rookie season last year, where he established himself as on of the NFL’s top deep threats. The speedy wide receiver complimented Tyreek Hill well. Hardman finished with 26 catches for 583 yards and six touchdowns.

Last season Hardman and Mahomes helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. The Chiefs had three consecutive comeback victories in a historic postseason run.

Here’s what Mahomes and Hardman had to say on Twitter following the record contract signing:

Tyreek Hill shared what he’s been doing when Mahomes starts buying time during his career:

Mahomes, Hardman, and Hill will be fun to watch for years to come. The Chiefs have one of the NFL’s best deep passing attacks ever. Look for Hardman to have an even bigger season during his second year in the NFL.

Chiefs players share thoughts on George Floyd protests around the country

A few members of the Kansas City Chiefs shared their thoughts regarding recent protests via social media.

The past week has been filled with protests and rallies following the death of 46-year-old George Floyd in Minnesota. Video of Floyd’s encounter with the police has sparked a nationwide response, including comments from the NFL.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged this recent event and other similar tragedies in an official statement. The NFL’s stance on the matter of these particular incidents has been a topic of discussion over the years, beginning with peaceful kneeling protests started by QB Colin Kaepernick. Goodell felt that in light of nationwide protests it was necessary to show support in this situation rather than stay silent.

Kansas City was one of the many locations that held protests following Floyd’s death. A few members of the Kansas City Chiefs shared their feelings on the current events taking place in our country via social media.

Pro Bowl return specialist and wide receiver Mecole Hardman had a public discussion with Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. on the issue.

All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill reposted a viral video from his hometown of protestors standing in silence.

Safety Tyrann Mathieu chose to acknowledge the recent events with a quote from the late political activist Assata Shakur.

Kicker Harrison Butker spoke to the media about the death of George Floyd and the protests on Friday. One officer involved in the death of Floyd has been arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

Chiefs players continue to use their voices and public influence to support the efforts of their communities in achieving justice and equal rights.

Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill ‘taking a different approach’ to staying in shape this offseason

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill is looking in peak shape after adding Yoga and Nordic hamstring curls to his workout regimen.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill is one of the many players on the team who remains dedicated to improving during the offseason. Each season he’s managed to get better and part of that is his commitment to keeping himself in the best possible shape.

The unique situation surrounding the 2020 NFL offseason has seen players sidelined in favor of virtual meetings. Hill, however, has taken this opportunity to continue to work on his body. He’s taken a bit of different approach this season, resulting in a chiseled physique heading into the 2020 season.

“I’m kind of taking a different approach this year,” Hill told reporters in mid-May. “I’m doing yoga two times a week, so I’m getting into yoga a lot. I’ve been trying to open up my hips a little more, open up my glutes and things like that. I have been feeling amazing, been getting out of routes even better. It’s going to be crazy. I feel like this is going to be a crazy year for me, so I’m excited.”

In addition to yoga, Hill also added another new workout to his regimen, showcasing a whopping 10 repetitions of weighted Nordic hamstring curls.

Hill recently posted a slew of pictures on his personal Instagram page, with the caption, “Everyday we getting better.”

Everyday we getting better 😌

A post shared by Tyreek Hill (@cheetah) on

When some of the photographs showing a ripped Hill went viral, he responded, claiming he’s at “literally 1% body fat.”

When people came for his comment, saying that 1% body fat was impossible and also unhealthy, Hill snapped back and let people know that it was merely a joke.

Hill’s true body fat percentage is irrelevant. It’s clear that he feels very confident in the shape his body is in. He’s also confident about how that will translate to the football field during the upcoming season.

Eagles among NFL teams building a roster of hybrid running backs and receivers?

Miles Sanders among players in NFL who pose a threat as an RB or WR

The Philadelphia Eagles arrived late to the hybrid WR party but Howie Roseman is attempting to make up for it by loading his roster with multifaceted running backs and receivers.

Aside from veterans DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, and second-year wideout JJ Arcega-Whiteside, the Eagles now will rely heavily on guys who can catch the deep ball, take a bubble-screen to the house or carry the ball out of the backfield as well.

In Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, Corey Clement, undrafted rookie Adrian Killins and at times Michael Warren, the Eagles have running backs who can make their living carrying the ball or sliding out to the slot as a receiver.

In Jalen Reagor, Marquise Goodwin, John Hightower, and Greg Ward, the Eagles now have a core group of wide receivers who can carry the ball in certain situations as well.

Pro Football Focus recently did a breakdown on the new wave of hybrid receivers who legitimately pose a threat as a runner and whether that could be the next big thing in the NFL.

Sanders and Killins factor into the equation because of their ability to be dynamic in the passing game, giving Carson Wentz another weapon on the outside of the in the middle of the field.

The Chiefs are the gold standard for NFL offenses with the San Francisco 49ers chomping at the bit. The Saints have. a juggernaut for an offense, but recently added Ty Montgomery to the roster because he presents that same skill set.

The utilization of Eagles’ running backs and receivers as multi-purpose threats out of the backfield and in the open field could present Carson Wentz with the opportunity to get rid of the ball quickly while starting games off at a more efficient pace.

The quicker pace is something Wentz and the Eagles flourished at late down the stretch of the 2019 season and the reduced hits would allow the Birds star to fight off any talk of an injury-prone 2020 season.

The Eagles will face some heavyweight pass-rushing units early on in their schedule and with such a young-roster at the skill positions, getting Reagor, Hightower, Killins, and Warren the ball in space can only do wonders for their confidence early on.

Tyreek Hill envisions Clyde Edwards-Helaire as ‘Darren Sproles type’ RB for Chiefs

A nice comparison for the rookie RB out of LSU from Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill.

With the 32nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Clyde Edwards-Helaire, running back, LSU.

“Who?”

That’s at least how I imagine Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill’s reaction went during the draft.

On Friday, Hill revealed to reporters that he didn’t know who Edwards-Helaire was when Kansas City first selected him in the draft. But once Hill did his research, watching highlights of Edwards-Helaire at LSU, he was impressed knew exactly what he was all about. Hill even likened Edwards-Helaire’s skillset to that of a former NFL great Darren Sproles.

“To be honest, I didn’t even know who that was at first,” Hill explained. “But then I looked at his highlights and I was like, ‘Dang this dude is short, but he’s good, he’s cold.’ I think he’s definitely going to be like a Darren Sproles type back, come in, scatback, who can catch the ball out of the backfield, get those scrimmage yards when you need them. It is going to be tough.”

Back in 2011, when Sproles became a free agent for the first time, Andy Reid and the Eagles were among his suitors. It’s definitely interesting that Hill sees Edwards-Helaire as a guy who has that same type of skillset. He adds yet another dimension to a bevy of offensive playmakers that were already difficult to defend. Perhaps the most exciting thing for Hill is just seeing the types of creative plays that Andy Reid will be able to come up with.

“I feel like with the mind of Andy Reid, anything is possible,” Hill said “He can line you up and gain 15 yards, which is crazy. He just takes over with it. And that’s not taking away from the amazing athletes that we have. Just saying, Coach Reid is a wizard with the way he draws these plays up.”

One thing is for certain, Reid will be able to really open up the playbook with the addition of Edwards-Helaire.

Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman has ‘no ceiling’ according to Tyreek Hill

KC Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill says ‘there is no ceiling’ for former Georgia football WR Mecole Hardman in his 2nd year in the NFL.

Former Georgia Bulldog wide receiver Mecole Hardman had a breakout rookie season in the NFL playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hardman was drafted by the Chiefs in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL Draft and did not disappoint.  He caught 26 balls in 2019 for an average of 20.7 yards per catch.  He also pulled in 6 touchdowns in the slot, one of three receivers to do so last season.

Hardman showed off his incredible speed to the entire league and helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl 54 in his rookie year.

Kansas City’s star wide-out Tyreek Hill spoke to the media on Friday about his teammate and his potential going into his second year.

“Well, I think Mecole is going to continue to be a heck of a player,” Hill said. “But it’s all about mindset. I feel like if he continues to do what he has been doing in the past and works his butt off, he’s going to be amazing.” Hill is one of the best receivers in the league and is most definitely the quickest.  He talked about how Mecole’s abilities go far beyond just his speed and route running.

“There is no ceiling for this kid.” said Hill. “I feel like he’s definitely a 1000-yard receiver every year, with the targets obviously. But he’s just got to continue to work. He’s got to be different, he’s got to find something to be different every year. It just can’t be speed, it can’t just be relying on route running. Sometimes there’s going to be a contested catch. Sometimes you’ve got to get off a jam [at the line of scrimmage]. You’ve got to work on those things. I feel like he is going to work on those things because he wants to be great and he wants to be a part of this offense. He likes the challenge, so he’s going to be great.”

Mecole made some incredible plays connecting with Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the 2019 season.

It will be exciting to watch Mecole in the coming years as he has already achieved what most football players strive for their entire careers in just his rookie season.

Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill delivers food to frontline healthcare workers at Saint Luke’s Hospital

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has taken on a role to assist those that have helped us combat COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world tremendously as sports continue to take a backseat to the devastation it has caused. As many have continued to remain sheltered at home there are frontline healthcare workers doing everything possible to help the many affected. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has taken on a role to assist those that have helped us combat the virus.

Hill, fresh off a Super Bowl championship, has teamed up with his mother, who is a healthcare professional to give back to the frontline workers at Saint Luke’s Hospital. Hill explained yesterday why he finds it so important to give back and show his dedication to everyone in Kansas City.

“We basically, me and my mom, we talk about giving back. That’s the way I was raised,” said Hill during a press conference. “My mom, she’s actually a nurse. She always comes home and talks about how some people don’t care about (nurses) risking their lives every day. So, I was like, ‘Mom, maybe I can do something here in Kansas City for the healthcare workers. It can be small. It can be big.’ So, we just came up with the idea of partnering with Chick-fil-A and just giving sandwiches. Plus, I love seeing people smile. It was a good time seeing people smile, seeing people keep sandwiches. I really had a good time.”

Hill is using this unusual offseason to help those in need, but he’s also spending time adjusting to the new virtual offseason with teammates and Chiefs’ coaches. H explained that he’s taking a new approach toward keeping his body right.

“I’m kind of taking a different approach this year,” said Hill.

The speedy All-Pro target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes is never at a loss for confidence on the field. He’s taken that same swagger and used it in building up healthcare workers during this long pandemic battle.

Tyreek Hill says ‘there is no ceiling’ for Chiefs second-year WR Mecole Hardman

The Kansas City Chiefs’ second-year receiver is in for a big year if he keeps preparing the right way.

We already know that the Kansas City Chiefs are expecting big things from  WR Mecole Hardman during his second season in the NFL. Now we’re learning that one of Hardman’s teammates also anticipates that he’ll take a big leap moving forward, at least with the proper preparation.

When speaking to the media on Friday, Chiefs starting WR Tyreek Hill spoke on his expectations for Hardman in 2020 and beyond. Hill thinks that Hardman has limitless potential, so long as he continues to maintain his work ethic from his rookie season.

“Well, I think Mecole (Hardman) is going to continue to be a heck of a player,” Hill said. “But it’s all about mindset. I feel like if he continues to do what he has been doing in the past and works his butt off, he’s going to be amazing. There is no ceiling for this kid. I feel like he’s definitely a 1000-yard receiver every year, with the targets obviously.

Those are some pretty lofty expectations from Hardman’s teammate, but they don’t appear unachievable. Hill may already be onto something with Hardman working on improving certain areas of his game. Hardman has been working this offseason with one of the best WR coaches in Rischad Whitfield, who is better known as “The Footwork King.”

Whitfield and Hardman are specifically working on his ability to beat press-man coverage, something that Hill pointed out as an area that needs improvement. That’s what Whitfield works on exclusively with the receivers he coaches — how to beat press coverage using your feet and hands. He makes sure that receivers don’t have any wasted motion and that each motion is purposeful.

From the looks of it, Hardman is already well on his way to making the necessary improvements to reach new heights during the 2020 NFL season.

Chargers safety Derwin James wins EA Sports’ Madden 20 Tournament

No one wants to take on Derwin James on the football field, as well as on Madden.

Chargers safety Derwin James is one of the best players in the league, and one of the best Madden players.

James was crowned champion of the Checkdown x Madden Tournament, which was a Madden 20 tournament to help raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts, taking down Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

James used the 49ers while Hill played with the Bears.

Hill couldn’t find the scoreboard, only managing three points after scoring 104 points in the last two rounds prior to the championship matchup. Meanwhile, James’ offense was too dominant for Hill to stop as he racked up a whopping 52 points.

James worked his way to the top by taking down his own teammate Keenan Allen 14-6 in the first-round, following that up by defeating Eagles’ DeSean Jackson by the score of 50-27 in the semifinals.

With his earnings from winning the tourney, a donation will be made in James’ name to a COVID-19 charity of choice.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill advanced to the semifinals in The Checkdown’s “Madden NFL 20” tournament. During the first round, he defeated his Chiefs teammate Tyrann Mathieu by a score of 62-32. Hill played as the Bears, while Mathieu grabbed the Chiefs.

Hill will face Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward in the second round at 5 p.m. CT. Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson will face Los Angeles Chargers DB Derwin James in the other match, which will determine the final matchup.

If yesterday was any indication, Ward better play his best game against Hill, otherwise, he won’t stand a chance. On both defense and offense, Hill proved to be deadly, holding as big as a 35-point lead against Mathieu.

(Note: Electronic Arts initially reversed the graphics on the stream, as Hill actually played as the Bears and Mathieu the Chiefs.)

The single-elimination tournament benefits the United Way’s COVID-19 relief efforts, so be sure to show your support for Hill this evening. Tune in at the top of the page to see if Hill advances to the final.
