Four-star linebacker set to visit Ohio State

Four-star linebacker set to visit Ohio State #GoBucks

The Buckeyes are burning up the recruiting trail and another heavy hitting recruiting weekend is coming up. One of the bigger fish to capture in Columbus this weekend is Tyler Atkinson. He is currently ranked as a four-star prospect from the state of Georgia in the class of 2026.

The consensus top 20 player in the country has visited a number of schools including southern powers such as Florida State and Auburn, but Ohio State is hopeful that it ranks among the highest after his unofficial visit this weekend.

Standing at 6-foot, 5-inches and 205 pounds, Atkinson has the ideal build to grow into a dominating Big Ten linebacker. As a sophomore last season, he tallied 197 tackles with 25 registered behind the line of scrimmage. He also sacked the quarterback 10.5 times.

UNC football cracks four-star recruit’s top 10

The UNC football program cracks the top 10 for a four-star recruit linebacker.

The UNC football program has had a great season so far, becoming a threat on both sides of the ball. Well, that threat should continue for the next few years, with the Tar Heels cracking the top 10 for top-ranked national recruits.

The most recent recruit, four-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson of the 2026 class, released his top 10, featuring UNC. Along with the Tar Heels are two other ACC schools, Florida State and Clemson. The other schools in the top 10 are Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, and Ohio State.

UNC’s best chance at landing Atkinson is to continue to dominate and bring in NIL dollars to the student-athletes. Many top talent are not lining up to sit on the bench at Alabama anymore, giving the Tar Heels a fighting chance.

It would be a huge snag for UNC if they can get Atkinson to lace up in the Carolina blue threads.

Georgia eighth grader Tyler Atkinson talks Rutgers football offer

Rutgers football offers a bigtime recruit from Georgia.

Tyler Atkinson isn’t even a freshman in high school yet and he is already one of the most coveted recruits in the nation. Earlier this week, he pulled in his ninth Power Five offer, this one from Rutgers football.

A 6-foot-3, 190-pound edge rusher at Grayson (Loganville, GA), Atkinson already holds Power Five offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, and Texas A&M.

He has 22 scholarship offers total.

The offer from the Big Ten program came just days after the staff saw him up close at a Florida State football camp. Rutgers head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag], cornerbacks coach [autotag]Mark Orphey[/autotag] (recently named to a prestigious coaching watch list) and defensive line coach [autotag]Marquise Watson[/autotag] attended the camp in Tallahassee and walked away impressed with the eighth-grader.

Impressed enough to make an offer.

“I was able to meet coach Schiano, coach Mark and coach Watson during camp over the weekend. They felt I had a great day at camp. I was able to speak with coach Schiano again [on Wednesday] and I earned my offer from him personally,” Atkinson told RutgersWire.

“I think what makes me the most excited about my offer from Rutgers is that the coach Schiano was able to see me work in person and tell me things I can fix.”

It is certainly early in the process for Atkinson – in fact, extremely early – but he did say that “I have made some really good relationships with Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Texas, Michigan State, and Michigan coaches.”

Because it is so early in the process for Atkinson, his focus isn’t as much on the recruiting component as he is on getting ready for the fall.

“Just working and getting ready for high school. We just finished our first week of summer workouts at Grayson,” Atkinson said.

“I am just focusing on being at my best all-around so I can help our team win [the] state.”

All offers are per 247Sports.

Georgia is not the usual recruiting turf for Rutgers football. Historically, the ‘State of Rutgers’ has been New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and parts of New York State as well as into Connecticut and Maryland.

Michigan State football offers 2026 Georgia DE Tyler Atkinson

Michigan State football is trying to get in early on what appears to be an elite edge rusher in the 2026 class

Michigan State football is trying to get in early on what appears to be an elite edge rusher in the 2026 class.

Tyler Atkinson of Loganville, Ga. announced on Tuesday that he’s received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. Atkinson is a edge rusher in the 2026 class.

Atkinson is yet to be ranked by 247Sports, but that has more to do with him being in the class of 2026. When rankings do eventually come out, it appears he’ll be a highly-rated prospect based on who already is showing interest in his talents.

Michigan State is the eighth school to already offer him a scholarship. The Spartans are joined by Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Akron.

Atkinson plays for Grayson High, and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. He was the first-ever eighth-grader invited to the All-American Bowl and participated in the UA Next All-America Game.
