Sooner Nation reacts to Lincoln Riley, USC’s loss to Notre Dame

Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans were blown out by Notre Dame and here’s how Sooner Nation reacted on Social Media.

The USC Trojans have been playing with fire the last couple of weeks in wins over Colorado and Arizona. But Lincoln Riley and the Trojans were  burned in their prime-time matchup with Notre Dame.

It was only a matter of time.

USC’s defense had struggled at different points this season. In this one, not only did the defense struggle, but the Trojans’ offense and special teams units struggled as well. The Trojans lost 48-20 in South Bend.

It’s been nearly two years since Lincoln Riley abruptly left the University of Oklahoma just hours after the Sooners lost to Oklahoma State. Since then, there’s been a great deal of talk about the direction of the two programs.

After the Oklahoma Sooners walked out of the Cotton Bowl with a gritty, hard-nosed win over their biggest rival, and USC suffered a beat down at the hands of the Irish, it’s clear this has worked out very well for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Sooner Nation was tuned into the big-time matchup, and here’s how the fan base reacted on social media to Lincoln Riley and USC’s loss to the Fighting Irish.

Social Media Reacts: Gavin Freeman electrifies with punt return for a touchdown

Gavin Freeman electrified social media with his 82-yard punt return for a touchdown to put Oklahoma up 14-0.

The Oklahoma Sooners got off to a quick start on their first drive, scoring in 1:19 of game time to take a 7-0 lead on Drake Stoops touchdown reception. It didn’t take long for the Sooners to add to the lead after the defense forced a punt.

Gavin Freeman took the punt back on his 18-yard line and darted and dashed through the Red Wolves for an 82-yard punt return touchdown to make it 14-0.

It’s the second year in a row in which the Oklahoma native scored on his first touch of the season. It was the first time the Oklahoma Sooners had return for a touchdown since 2016.

It was a great way to kick start the season early in the first quarter, with Gavin Freeman again showing off his electric ability. Here’s how social media reacted.

Twitter reacts to the Bears’ selection of DT Gervon Dexter Sr.

The Bears went defensive line with the No. 53 pick, selecting Gervon Dexter Sr. out of Florida. Here is how Twitter reacted to the news.

The Chicago Bears fortified the offensive line with their first pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. Now they did the same on the defensive line with their second pick. The Bears selected defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. out of Florida with the No. 53 overall pick.

Dexter has the ideal size and talent for a defensive tackle, standing at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, but needs work on his technique coming off the line. He’ll have his opportunity to get meaningful reps on a defensive line that has Justin Jones and Andrew Billings as the top options but could use some refining before that happens.

Regardless, the Bears needed help on the interior of the defensive line and got it with Dexter. Here is how Twitter is reacted to the selection.
