Want to see the music you listened to the most in 2019 and the 2010s on Spotify? We’ve got you covered.

Spotify is the music app of choice for many people (myself included) and one nice thing they do every year is crunch your data and then tell you exactly what songs and artists you listened to the most over the past year.

It’s called Spotify Wrapped, and it’s not only good at showing you what you listened to, it’s also great at revealing your emotional state. This year, they’re also looking back at the entire decade of what you listened to, so you get a look back on ten years of emotional states. I found out I listened to a TON of Elliott Smith back in 2013, and you know what, that makes a lot of sense! I will not be delving into any more details about that!

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho returns to Old Trafford on Wednesday and will face Manchester United as an opponent for the first time since the Red Devils sacked him almost one year ago. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be eager to show his side has grown since Mourinho’s dismissal, with a chance to possibly jump up in the standings.

Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boasts a perfect record in three matches under Mourinho so far, having most recently defeated Bournemouth 3-2 at home on Saturday. However, that was also the third time the team has conceded two goals in as many matches under the new coach. The Red Devils extended their winless run to three matches after drawing 2-2 at home to Villa on Sunday, the seventh time in their last eight games that they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet.

Lucas Moura scored twice when Tottenham thrashed United 3-0 in its last trip to Old Trafford in August 2018, when Mourinho was still employed by the latter. The North Londoners failed to score in four visits to the grounds prior to that, ending their drought in sensational style.

The Special One finds himself back in the away dugout, seeking what would be his 10th career victory against United in his 21st meeting. He’s only lost three times in those previous 20 clashes, twice while he was Chelsea manager and once at Inter Milan. Mourinho has traveled to Old Trafford on nine occasions and won in three of those—twice with the Blues in 2005 and once in March 2013 with Real Madrid.

United has lost once at home this season (three wins, three draws), while the Spurs clinched their first away league victory this term when Mourinho’s squad won 3-2 at West Ham in his debut.

Solskjaer is under some pressure to produce a win against his club’s former coach nearly one year after he took over at United, initially in a caretaker role. The Norwegian isn’t expected to have midfield star Paul Pogba back from an ankle injury until mid-December, while defenders Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are chasing fitness.

Mourinho appears to have had a rejuvenating effect on Dele Alli, who has scored or assisted in each of the three games and netted twice in the win over Bournemouth.

Reputations are on the line at Old Trafford when United seeks to fend off Mourinho’s soaring Spurs in what looks to be a vital fixture in the race for European qualification.

Plea issued after deer becomes entangled in Christmas lights

An animal care facility in California is asking people to keep wildlife in mind while decorating their homes for the holidays.

An animal care facility in California is asking people to keep wildlife in mind while decorating their homes for the holidays.

The plea was issued Monday after an Animal Services Officer with Marin Humane responded to reports of a deer that had become become entangled in Christmas lights in the Marin County town of San Anselmo.

Jessica Needham of the nonprofit was not able to free the buck of its burden, but did take photographs to illustrate the extent of the entanglement.

“Catching deer is extremely difficult and catching a buck is even trickier,” Marin Humane announced in a statement. “Our officers would have to use a control pole to get a handle on him, which leaves them open to the risk of being charged and injured. Luckily, this guy is still able to graze and run just fine.”

The group stated that it’ll continue to “monitor the situation” and expressed hope that the buck will become free of the lights when he sheds his antlers during the winter.

Lisa Bloch, a Marin Humane spokeswoman, told the San Jose Mercury News that the Christmas lights were likely strewn loosely around bushes or between trees in the rural neighborhood, “and the deer just walked into them.”

The group, which is not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States, said in a statement:

“This serves as a good reminder that when hanging holiday decorations, make sure they’re secure and high enough where they’re less likely to be an issue for wildlife.

“We’re lucky to share our space with so many animals so let’s be mindful of their safety, even when we’re getting festive!”

On an active NBA roster, the tallest player in the NBA right now is Boban Marjanović, who stands 7-foot-4 and plays for the Dallas Mavericks. 

One wrinkle in the current ranking: Tacko Fall was drafted by the Boston Celtics this past year and stands at 7-foot-5, but he’s currently a member of the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s G-League affiliate.

The tallest player in NBA history is a tie between Georghe Muresan and Manute Bol. Both were listed at 7-foot-7.

We are in a little bit of a lull between World Cups right now, with the women’s World Cup of 2019 just ending — which the USA won — and two years out from the previous men’s World Cup.

You may be wondering when the next World Cup will be held.

The next men’s World Cup will be in 2022 hosted in Qatar.

Because of incredibly hot summer temperatures in Qatar, the tournament, for the first time ever, is being moved to the winter months. Right now it is tentatively scheduled to begin in late November and run until the final, which is scheduled to be held on December 18, 2022.

After that tournament, the next women’s World Cup will be in 2023. No host country has been chosen yet, but several countries have put in a bid to host the tournament.

Those countries are:

  • Argentina
  • Australia and/or New Zealand (possible joint bid)
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Japan
  • South Africa
  • South Korea and/or North Korea (possible joint bid)

The 2026 men’s World Cup will be joint hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Watch: Shark knocks 7-year-old boy off surfboard

Chandler Moore was surfing at a beach known as the shark attack capital of the world when he was knocked into the water by a blacktip shark.

It happened so quickly that his father Shaun Moore, who posted the video on social media, wasn’t aware of the shark and what happened until someone pointed it out to him.

“One of the surfers out there through social media got in touch,” Tennille Moore, Chandler’s mother, explained to WESH. “He was like, ‘Did you see the shark?’ And Shaun’s like, ‘What shark?’ So we slowed the video down and we were amazed.”

The incident occurred Saturday at New Smyrna Beach, a location known for its shark attacks. NatGeo reported that it is the shark attack capital of the world according to the International Shark Attack File, and said it estimates that anyone who has swam there has been within 10 feet of a shark.

“I’m like the luckiest boy ever since I didn’t get bit by that shark,” Chandler told WESH. He went on to explain what happened.

“So I’m just, like, standing up on this normal wave, and then I see fish, that makes me scared, so I kind of start to turn it, but then the shark hits me and knocks me right off.”

Two fish had jumped out of the water in front of him and he thought a third one had struck him. He learned later it was a shark.

“That explains why two fish in front of me jumped out of the water, because they got scared of the shark,” he told WESH.

But Chandler isn’t afraid of sharks. And the shark encounter isn’t going to scare him away from surfing. On the contrary.

“It’s not going to keep Chandler out of the water for sure,” Tennille Moore told WESH. “He’ll be out there. He’d be out there every day if he could.”

Surfer Mark Healey fends off shark while freediving

The accompanying video clip shows a large shark approaching Mark Healey, who ends the encounter with a firm jab to the shark’s snout.

Mark Healey makes a living as a big-wave surfer who spends most of the year chasing enormous swells around the world. But when the athlete isn’t riding waves, he often seeks solitude and adventure beneath the surface, freediving with a speargun, hunting fish for the dinner table.

I’ve found that it’s worthwhile to make every effort (within reason) to not let sharks take a fish you’ve speared. They’re fast learners and when they are rewarded for a behavior they usually double down on it. That’s why they’ve been around for eons. Sometimes it’s unavoidable and the sharks beat you to your fish. This video is an example of how they act after being “rewarded”. I lost a fish to about five sharks earlier in the dive. Once that happens they have way less hesitation and they’ll shadow you all day. Even follow the boat if you switch spots sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t feel in danger at all here, but if I ended up shooting that Wahoo, you know this shark would have been all over it. Another good reason to avoid having the sharks take your fish (besides losing your food) is that you don’t want them to associate divers with food. It might not be a problem for you that day, but it may end up being a problem for the unwitting diver that that wild animal encounters next time.

This sometimes puts Healey in close proximity to sharks looking for an easy meal.

The accompanying video clip, posted to Instagram on Sunday, shows a large Galapagos shark approaching Healey, who ends the encounter with a firm jab to the shark’s snout with his spear tip.

Healey told For The Win Outdoors that he was diving off French Polynesia when the encounter occurred. He had recently lost a fish to several sharks that had been close by, and Healey had been eyeing a wahoo (also seen in the video clip) when the Galapagos shark approached.

“There’s no shortage of sharks down there,” Healey said. “This shark was shadowing me to see if it could get another easy meal. It doesn’t have an aggressive posture towards me, but they don’t mind a bit of physical contact once they’re fired up.

“It had a competitive feeding situation when it vied with other sharks earlier in the day to eat my fish. It’s kind of like throwing a French fry to seagulls. Once they’ve seen it they’re not afraid to get close to you because they’re more concerned about beating the other seagulls to the next possible French fry.”

Healey, 38, who lives in Hawaii, said encounters like this are not uncommon in locations where sharks are plentiful, and he generally tries to exit the water as quickly as possible after securing his catch.

“You just have to read the scenario,” he said.

Patriots vs. Texans

Tom Brady is frustrated with the offensive production of the Patriots, and rightfully so. The team posted 20 points in a loss to the Ravens, 17 the following week in a win against the Eagles, and beat the Cowboys 13-9 in a defensive battle this past weekend. Brady completed 17 of 37 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown. Sony Michel rushed for 85 yards and Julian Edelman was the leading receiver with 93 yards. The offensive depth chart is incredibly thin due to injuries. This unit will need to get going, as the defense can only carry them for so long.

This year we’ve seen stellar defenses in the NFL, including the 49ers and the Patriots. Lamar Jackson proved that New England’s group isn’t perfect, but he’s been doing that to opponents all season long. The unit held the Cowboys No. 1 scoring offense to zero touchdowns in the game and Dak Prescott to a mere 212 yards passing, while also tossed an interception. All-Pro wide receiver Amari Cooper was unable to reel in any receptions for the first time in his career as a Cowboy. Dallas converted only two of 13 third-down attempts as well. The Patriots defense simply shutdown the Cowboys and will face another tough offense in the Houston Texans.

After a 41-7 beatdown at the hands of the Ravens, the Texans narrowly defeated the Colts 20-17 last weekend. If they thought it was difficult scoring points on Indy, it won’t get any easier when the Patriots come rolling into town with their defense that ranks second in total defense (256.4 YPG) and passing yards allowed (158 YPG). Last weekend, Watson threw for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns. Will Fuller had his second-best game of the season with seven catches for 140 yards, while DeAndre Hopkins added six receptions for 94 yards and two scores. Can this offensive line protect Watson and give him time to throw the ball to his talented wide receivers? Will they be able to get running back Carlos Hyde going to set up the play-action pass? How they respond to these questions will be crucial to their success on Sunday.

The Oakland Raiders had their three-game win streak snapped last weekend in a disappointing 34-3 loss to the New York Jets. Oakland had just 208 yards for the game, with Derek Carr being pulled in the second half due to the lopsided nature of the contest. Carr had just 127 passing yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. To go toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes, Carr will need to be more effective against an inconsistent Chiefs defense.

Kansas City won its last game, earning a 24-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football in Mexico City. Patrick Mahomes didn’t play up to his usual standards, throwing for 182 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Fortunately, the Chiefs were able to compensate on defense, intercepting Philip Rivers four times in the win. The Chiefs have alternated wins and losses over their last six games, a streak they will attempt to break with a win against Oakland.

Something’s just not right for Barcelona this season. After several months of transfer sagas and failed negotiations involving Neymar over the summer, the atmosphere and performances surrounding the Catalonia giants have been weird. Despite all the negativity regarding its pedestrian showing this season, Barcelona still finds itself atop just narrowly. This just goes to show how high the bar has been set for this prestigious club. 

Antoine Griezmann was their huge offseason signing, while the club’s top players all wanted to see Neymar return. The Frenchman’s introduction into the lineup hasn’t gone smoothly, but he did score a goal in Wednesday’s 3-1 Champions League win over Dortmund, along with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

Disappointing signings are something Atletico Madrid can relate to. After selling both Griezmann and Rodri for huge fees this summer, the team spent quite a bit on Portuguese youngster Joao Felix. Everything went so well for Atleti in the preseason with Felix and the entire squad immediately clicking. Unfortunately, that early success didn’t translate to competitive matches. Felix has struggled with ineffectiveness and injuries, while the overall results leave them on the outside of the title race looking in. A huge win over Barca at home is just what the team needs to get back on track.
