Trey McBride, George Kittle injury update, availability in Week 5 Cardinals vs. 49ers

ESPN’s Adam Schefter gives an update about whether or not Trey McBride and George Kittle will play in Week 5.

The top tight ends for both the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers enter the Week 5 divisional showdown between the two teams questionable to play.

Both are expected to play, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

McBride returns to the lineup after missing the Cardinals’ 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 4. He was out with a concussion. He cleared concussion protocol at the end of the week and had no injury destination on the final injury report of the week, but was downgraded Saturday when an injury to his ribs came up.

In three games this season, McBride has 14 receptions for 122 yards.

Kittle was also questionable to play with a rib injury. He is also expected to suit up. He has missed one game this season. In three games played, he has 15 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals and 49ers kick off from Levi’s Stadium at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.

Trey McBride’s availability in question with rib injury

The Cardinals downgraded him from having no injury designation to being questionable with an injury to his ribs.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride appeared set to play on Sunday in Week 5 after missing Week 4 in concussion protocol. That might have changed. While he has cleared concussion protocol, the Cardinals downgraded McBride to questionable for the game with an injury to his ribs.

McBride was a full participant in practice on Friday but must have had something come up with his ribs afterward.

He apparently traveled with the team so his still could play, but with new NFL rules about injury reporting, they had to disclose it.

In three games this season, McBride has 14 receptions for 122 yards. In his absence last week, the Cardinals suffered their worst loss under head coach Jonathan Gannon, a 42-14 defeat to the Washington Commanders.

The Cardinals and 49ers kick off Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.

Cardinals TE Trey McBride out of concussion protocol, will play Sunday vs. 49ers

The Cardinals will have Trey McBride back in the lineup on Sunday against the 49ers.

Things are “good to go” for Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. McBride came out of concussion protocol and will be set to play on Sunday when the Cardinals face the San Francisco 49ers on the road.

McBride suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of the Cardinals’ 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 3 and missed their game in Week 4, a 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders. He was a full participant in practice on Thursday and made it through another day without symptoms.

McBride has 14 catches for 122 yards in three games this season.

The Cardinals and 49ers kick off from Levi’s Stadium Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.
