He caught three passes for 23 yards and scored a touchdown. The score was a nine-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter from Baker Mayfield. It was the NFC’s final score of the game, giving them a 56-38 lead.

WATCH: Trey McBride wraps up NFC win in pass-catching competition

McBride helped the NFC win three points in the Pro Bowl Games on Thursday.

The Pro Bowl Games began Thursday evening in Orlando with skills competitions. One of them was the “Satisfying Catch” competition, where three players from each conference had to show off their pass-catching skills.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was one of the three NFC participants along with Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson and Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson going against the AFC’s three participants of Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.

To win, each trio was timed as to how quickly they could make three one-handed catches, make one catch with mascot gloves on and then make a diving catch. If the diving catch was not made, the player had to do an agility run.

The NFC won with a time of 1:57 and McBride was the last to go. Check out how he did:

None of the players in either conference was able to complete the diving catch.

It was a good showing by McBride and the NFC squad.

Pro Bowler Trey McBride discusses Marvin Harrison Jr.’s rookie year, Cardinals season

@EdEastonJr spoke to Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride the Cardinals’ 2024 season and teammate Marvin Harrison Jr.’s rookie campaign.

This week, Touchdown Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride.

In his interview with Easton Jr., McBride, on behalf of Rockin’ Protein, discussed his partnership with the high-quality fitness drink and reflected on the Cardinals’ 2024 season and teammate Marvin Harrison Jr.’s rookie campaign.

“You can get it (Rockin’ Protein) all over the place. It’s not just available here on the western side of the country, but the protein is the best I’ve ever tasted,” said McBride. “It tastes phenomenal. It doesn’t have that chalky taste that most protein companies have afterward. It’s high in protein, super easy, and there are a ton of different flavors to choose from. So it’s easy for me to choose.”

The Cardinals finished the season 8-9, missing out on the playoffs in a competitive NFC West. There is optimism for the young team that excelled past many preseason projections in 2024.

“Yeah, I think for me, Jonathan Gannon and Monti Ossenfort, head coach and GM (General Manager), that they’ve done a very good job of bringing the right people into the building,” McBride explained. “[They are] building this culture, you know, from the ground up, from the foundation, they’ve done a really good job of bringing in a lot of great people, great coaches, things like that, to build this culture the right way. And for me, I think it starts with those guys. Those guys have done a really good job. Kyler (Murray) obviously has done a great job, and just this camaraderie that we have as a team, I think we’re gonna, you know, continue to get better, continue to grow, and I’m excited to see where, where we can take this thing the next couple years.”

McBride’s teammate and rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was a standout performer, finishing the season with 62 catches for 885 yards and a touchdown.

“He’s an elite player,” McBride said of Harrison. “He’s a guy who’s, you know, been a freak athlete his whole life. He comes from great genes, so I’m excited to see what he can continue to do. He had so many expectations from him, from what he was supposed to do. I thought he had a great season, and in this league, it’s so hard to be successful off the rip. So I’m excited for him to grow this next year, to be able to, you know, see coverages better, to be able to find zones better and grow as a player. He’s such a great player and such a great person, and the sky’s the limit for him, so I’m excited to see where he can take it in the next couple of years.”

Cardinals TE Trey McBride reflects on Pro Bowl season, tight end role models

@EdEastonJr spoke to Arizona Cardinals star Trey McBride about his Pro Bowl season and his tight-end role models in the league.

This week, Touchdown Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride.

In his interview with Easton Jr., McBride, on behalf of Rockin’ Protein, discussed his partnership with the high-quality fitness drink and reflected on his Pro Bowl season and his tight-end role models in the league.

“A few things stuck out to me when choosing this protein company,” McBride explained. “The first thing that really sticks out to me is that they’re an Arizona-based company. I wanted to do something that was local. I wanted to be something that was involved in the community here in Arizona where I’m at. And not only is it based in Arizona, you can buy it nationwide.”

McBride set career highs during the 2024 season, finishing with 111 catches for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.

“It’s a huge honor. It’s something that, obviously, I’ve dreamed about for a long time and to come to fruition finally,” said McBride. “To finally be in the same conversation as some of these great tight ends. It’s, it’s a huge honor, and something I’ve been dreaming of for a very long time.”

The former second-round pick from Colorado State mentioned two current star tight ends he models his game after.

“Yeah, it’s funny. I’ve actually watched a ton of tight ends while growing up. These guys are a little older than me, but Travis Kelce and George Kittle are other guys who really stick out to me. They do everything the right way, McBride said. “He’s a threat in the run game, a threat in the past game, and he does everything the right way. So I love watching all those guys play. I love watching them how they, you know, pick apart defenses, all sorts of different things. So I watch a ton of films on a ton of other guys and try to take different things from each player.”

“Yeah, I think it’s cool to be out there too,” McBride explained. “Obviously, I would love to play and be out there for that, but it’s a great experience. [There are] so many cool people, a lot of different athletes, different people out there, and just being out there with those guys and being associated with them is so cool. I love going out there every year. I’ll probably be out there again this year, so it’ll be a blast and something I look forward to every single year.”

Cardinals TE Trey McBride on Travis Kelce: ‘I love everything that he does’

@EdEastonJr spoke to Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowler Trey McBride about the continued success of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl tight end Trey McBride.

In his interview with Easton Jr., McBride, on behalf of Rockin’ Protein, discussed his partnership with the high-quality fitness drink and his thoughts on the continued success of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“I wanted to do something that was local. I wanted to be something that was involved in the community here in Arizona where I’m at. And not only is it based in Arizona, you can buy it nationwide,” said McBride of Rockin’ Protein. “It tastes phenomenal. It doesn’t have that chalky taste that most protein companies have afterward. It’s high in protein, super easy, and there are a ton of different flavors to choose from. So it’s easy for me to choose.”

https://www.instagram.com/treymcbride/reel/DE3BO6fykJR/

McBride was a first-time Pro Bowl selection after setting career highs in multiple categories during the 2024 regular season. He admires ten-time Pro Bowler Kelce and will watch his performance closely in Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

“Travis (Kelce) is a great player,” McBride explained. “He does a lot of things very well, but I think something that sticks out to me is his ability to get open and find zones. He’s not the fastest guy anymore, he’s not the quickest guy anymore, but he still finds a way to get open and find those zones in defenses. I love watching him play. I love everything that he does. He’s been such an elite player in this league for such a long time, so it’s hard not to put the respect on him. But he’s a heck of a player, a great person, and I’m excited to see what they do this weekend against the (Buffalo) Bills.”

Budda Baker, Trey McBride snubbed in PFWA All-NFL, All-NFC teams

The Cardinals were shut out of both the all-league and all-conference teams, as voted on by NFL writers across the country.

The Pro Football Writers of America, comprised of writers across the nation who cover the NFL and its teams, recently released its 2024 player awards for the All-NFL and all-conference teams for both the AFC and NFC.

You can see the All-NFL team here and the rosters for both all-conference teams here.

Nobody on the Arizona Cardinals made it, not even safety Budda Baker or tight end Trey McBride.

Baker was passed over for both the All-NFL and All-NFC teams for Detroit’s Brian Branch and Green Bay’s Xavier McKinney.

Brank had a fantastic season, piling up 108 tackles, picking off four passes and breaking up 16 passes.

McKinney was incredibly productive on the ball. He had eight interceptions and 11 pass breakups to go with 88 total tackles.

Baker piled up tackles with 164, including 95 solo. But he did not have an interception in 2024 and broke up five passes.

Baker, though, made the Pro Bowl for the seventh straight season and was second-team All-Pro.

McBride was passed over for the top tight end spot by rookie Brock Bowers out of Las Vegas, who had 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.

McBride had 111 catches for 1,146 yards and two scores.

But McBride was also snubbed for San Francisco’s George Kittle, who also was fantastic in 2024. He caught 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns.

You could argue that McBride should have had the edge over Kittle, but Kittle has been doing it at the highest level for years.

Though if Kittle is going to get the nod over McBride for the NFC, he probably deserves to be chosen over Bowers.

But with the Cardinals winning only eight games, it will take a little more team success to get more recognition for their top players for awards like these.

Who was the Cardinals’ offensive player of the year in 2024?

The Cards Wire writers make their picks for team offensive player of the year for 2024.

The Arizona Cardinals are in their offseason and looking ahead to 2025.

But while we are in the offseason, it is time to look back at the 2024 season and give some recognitions for player performances.

On the podcast, we discussed player awards and superlatives. Now we will put our picks in written form.

We continue with the team’s offensive player of the year for 2024.

Who was the Cardinals’ offensive player of the year? Howard Balzer and I give our picks.

Cardinals 2024 offensive player of the year

Jess Root: TE Trey McBride

There were only two real choices and the choice was clear. Running back James Conner, whom I named the Cardinals’ 2024 MVP, had a career year for the second straight season, but McBride had a record-breaking season and one of the best tight end seasons in NFL history.

After setting the franchise single-season record for receptions by a tight end in 2023 with 81, he blew past that with 111 catches, and totaled 1,146 yards.

He has become one of the very best tight ends in the NFL and produced more catches and receiving yards than anyone else on the team.

Howard Balzer: TE Trey McBride

McBride picked up where he left off at the end of the 2023 season and compiled 111 receptions (on 147 targets) for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns, although he added two touchdowns on a running play and fumble recovery in the end zone.

Playing 934 offensive snaps, he was fourth in the NFL in receptions and second among tight ends, while ranking 11th in yards. McBride had three 100-yard games and also had five games with eight or more receptions including three with 12 catches.

As for consistency, McBride averaged 10.2 yards per reception in 2023 and 10.3 in 2024 while catching 76.4 percent of his targets last season and 75.5 percent in 2024.

Budda Baker is a Second Team All-Pro. Three other Cardinals got All-Pro votes.

The AP NFL All-Pro teams were announced on Friday and one Arizona Cardinals player made the cut. Safety Budda Baker made the All-Pro Second Team, the fourth time he has been an All-Pro.

Baker received seven first-place votes and 17 second-place votes for a total of 38 points.

TEs Trey McBride, George Kittle linked in several ways

McBride was part of Tight End University with Kittle and will join him at the Pro Bowl Games.

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride was one of around 60 players at the position who participated last June in Tight End University in Nashville, an event coordinated by tight ends George Kittle (San Francisco 49ers), Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs) and Greg Olsen (former Carolina Panthers and now FOX Sports game analyst).

McBride said at the time, “It’s a cool group of guys. There’s a ton of guys there. They’re all there for the same reasons, trying to spread knowledge, help each other out and get the tight end position to grow as much as they can. It was very cool to be a part of that and to work out with those guys for a few days was a blast.”

Kittle gave a shoutout then to McBride (“he’s just going to keep getting better”), which he appreciated. So it was somehow fitting that those two players will likely be on the field Sunday (Kittle is questionable with ankle and hamstring injuries), only three days after both were named the two tight ends to represent the NFC in the Pro Bowl Games next month.

After getting the Pro Bowl nod, McBride said Thursday, “Obviously Kittle’s been a great pro. He’s been playing in this league for a long time and he’s someone I’ve looked up to since I was a kid. So just to be considered part of that team with him … Obviously we’re in the same (division), we play against each other twice a year. So I’m always trying to one-up him, but just to be on this team with him, it’s going to be a great, a lot of fun, and I’m excited to spend that week with him.”

Asked if he ever told Kittle about looking up to him, McBride laughed and said, “I think he knows that. Obviously, we got a matchup this week against each other, so it’s kind of a cool way to end the season playing against him. We’ll be at those games together too, but just another opportunity for us to go out there and hopefully get another win before the season’s over.”
