Four-star WR Travis Smith sets date to visit Auburn

In the midst of many tight recruiting battles, four-star wide receiver Travis Smith has set a date for his official visit to Auburn

Auburn football is currently in the race for many of the nation’s best high school products with the hopes of increasing its recruiting ranking in a big way. Visits play a big factor in these races, so every chance that the Tigers get to show off their campus to these big recruits is crucial.

Four-star wide receiver [autotag]Travis Smith[/autotag] is one of those players in the 2025 class that coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is after. Luckily for Auburn, the dynamic player out of Westlake High School (Ga.) has set a date to make his official visit to the Plains.

Smith is set to make an appearance on campus on June 7. His visit will be the second of four week stretch where he visits different programs in the SEC.

In addition to the Plains, he is set to visit Georgia on May 31, Alabama on June 14 and Tennessee on June 21. This visit will be critical for the Tigers so they can separate themselves from their rivals that are going after him.

The 6-foot-3, 200 pound star is ranked the No. 90 player in his recruiting class according to the On3 industry ranking, as well as the No. 11 wide receiver in the class. He is also ranked the No. 12 player in the state of Georgia.

Should he commit to Auburn, Smith would be the first wide receiver to join the class, but the 11th overall player. It would also improve the Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class ranking, which currently sits at No. 9 in the country.

Bears hire longtime Raiders assistant Travis Smith as defensive line coach

Travis Smith lasted ten years, lasting through six different defensive coordinators. He now leaves to become the D-line coach in Chicago.

Richard Smith spent the past ten years with the Raiders, working his way up the ranks under multiple head coaching changes. Today he took another step up, only this time it also involved switching teams.

Smith was named the defensive line coach for the Bears Tuesday, joining new head coach Matt Eberflus’s staff.

Smith joined the Raiders in 2012 as a defensive assistant on Dennis Allen’s staff. He stayed on as a defensive quality control coach on Jack Del Rio’s staff and spent a season as outside linebackers coach (2017).

When Jon Gruden came in, Smith was retained as a defensive quality control coach before being elevated to assistant defensive line coach under Rod Marinelli the past two seasons.

Now Smith gets his shot at being a defensive line coach along with a reunion with former Raiders defensive end, Khalil Mack.

The Raiders website no longer lists Rod Marinelli, which suggests new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will be hiring an entirely new defensive staff.

Bears hiring Travis Smith as defensive line coach

The Bears have found their new defensive line coach in Travis Smith.

The Chicago Bears continue to fill out Matt Eberflus’ coaching staff, which includes an impressive list of names that are aiming to get the team back on track.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are hiring Travis Smith as their new defensive line coach. Smith spent the previous three seasons as an assistant defensive line coach with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Smith played a role in the development of Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who has become one of the league’s best pass rushers. Which can only be good news for a youngster like Trevis Gipson and veterans like Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn.

Smith has already worked with Mack during his time with the Raiders, so it’ll be a reunion for the pair.

Now, running backs coach is the only vacant position coach job.

Eberflus has assembled an impressive coaching staff thus far, which includes offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, defensive coordinator Alan Williams, special teams coordinator Richard Hightower and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, among others.

Here’s a look at how Eberflus’ coaching staff has filled out:
